One of the things I love about USC is the tradition that harkens back to the McKay era. The uniforms, the black cleats w/white laces and white socks, so old school! In 2002, they also had the 1960’s era end zones with the diamonds. I don’t know why they stopped doing that. It was one of the coolest end zone color schemes in college football.
This was after Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup defeating Colorado Avalanche the reigning Stanley Cup Champions of 2001, also Lakers won their Third Straight NBA champions with Shaq and Kobe. This was my fourth born cousin Munchie Stevens (R.I.P.), my Auntie and Uncle's son, my cousins (Tweety and Jamaal)'s brother on my Mom side was a 12th Grade Senior at Jess Lanier High School in Bessemer, Alabama. My Fifth born cousin Joseph "Bassy" Dawson aka "JoFlo the Great" was my Auntie and Uncle's first born son, and my cousin Danny Dawson's brother on my Mom side as well was a 12th Grade Senior at Ensley High School in Bessemer, Alabama.
This was during the Magic School Bus gang's 12th Grade Senior Year at Walkerville High School of Arnold Perlstein, Ralphie Tennelli, Tim Wright, Carlos Ramon, Wanda Li, Keesha Franklin, Dorothy Ann Hudson, Phoebe Terese, Jyoti Kaur, Morgan Matthews (Lindsay Ridgeway)' 12th Grade Senior at John Adams High School
Looking back, USC was scary good. They were stacked on both side of the game. Carson Palmer, Troy Polamalu, Mike Williams. And don't forget the great assistant coaches. Coach O on D line, Coach Chow on Offense. Dammmmm.....Great documentary.
M. Patterson, Shaun Cody, Lofu Tatupu made the NFL. I think the rest of the "Wild Bunch II" Udeze and Nazel made it also. Fargas, Colbert, Kelly, probably others on the O-line Katnick for sure.
Out of PCs teams this was my favorite. Remember we were 6-6 year before, Carson Palmer did not reach his potential yet, we had the toughest schedule. The experts did not expect much from team and poohed poohed PC as a coach. It was so cool to see them grow each game. The ND game was awesome! Then we took apart Iowa. They thought they could out physical us.
Exactly! I was at the game vs. Washington. Mike Williams had 3 TDs that game and he dropped the easiest pass he had all day which would've been his 4th. He was one of the most ridiculous receivers I've ever seen. Definitely as a freshman. You wonder how all these DBs are such poor tacklers until you remember that he was 6'5" 235lbs. USC's opponents those next few years must have been so happy when the NCAA didn't let him back in. DBs had no chance vs. this guy once he got going. I wasn't a fan of Sultan McCullough I always felt he hesitated, danced around looking for the hole. When Fargas got in there it was a completely different attack. He'd just get it and go. Hit it where it's supposed to be BOOM! I thought, "This guy should be starting." The next week he was. They scored over 30 the rest of the way. That Oregon game was just a slugfest for most of 3 quarters. I think it was 19-14 Oregon and USC ripped off 30 pts. in a row. Ducks got 2 late TDs to make it look closer than it was. USC under Carroll always made great 2nd half adjustments. If you didn't have a big lead you were going to get beat 98% of the time. Iowa ran the opening kickoff back then I think they were outscored 38-3 before a garbage TD late. They thought they were going to tie it up at the end of the 1st half. "No, we're not going to let you do that." Cody blocked the FG. That sent a message.
Coach Pete Carroll is the Greatest Football 🏈 Coach of all time😎👍🤙💪. Coach Pete Carroll is the most up beat and the most fun Coach to be with and watch in practice and during games😎👍🤙💪. We Are USC Trojans Nation, Trojans For Life And Go Trojans And Fight On To Victory✌️✌️✌️😎👍🤙💪
I really think y’all can become a powerhouse again under Lincoln Riley if y’all just pay a little attention to defense with the offense you have you don’t need an elite defense just a decent one will do in these times
