I’ve heard that when you get to Heaven , St. Peter gives you a box of all your lost socks ( and umbrellas too!) 🤣🤣

Buy socks in the same colour where you can. My children wear all white and all black socks. I don’t have to sort them out.

Be careful when throwing out your children’s possessions. Of course children, like adults, sometimes hang on to stuff they no longer have use for, but always be mindful that they are entitled to their opinion, and what is trash to an adult may be treasure to them. Be respectful of your children’s wishes, is what I am saying.

Yep, my boy has a "treasure box", and when I declutter his stuff, I put it in a box in my room for a few weeks to see if he asks for anything back - no peeking - before it gets donated/recycled/trashed. I think that tip was from Minimal Mom (Dawn).

Agree with this sentiment. My mom threw away a beloved stuff animal behind my back when I was a child. It was devastating.

My kids have struggled because they have areas that are supposed to be safe spaces at the other house, but their siblings don't get in trouble if they mess with stuff, and their stepmom has gone through and trashed stuff because it was broken or whatever even if it was in their safe area or if the other kids had pulled it out and left it out even tbough they werent supposed to touch it@@EveryPeachInReach

My mother always threw ours and many things my dad made we don’t gave anymore. It’s very upsetting.

The board books and picture books were hard to get rid of because of nostalgia, but I had to tell myself if my kids aren’t reading them right now, the books are not fulfilling their purpose! I passed them along to two people so their kids can read them instead

I actually would encourage people to have a box of toss out socks and rag to clean the windows, etc rather than reaching for disposable swiffer, small acts to help the environment out.

Odd/torn socks etc. Can also be used for teaching sewing or making puppets 😊

My 2 boys age 10 and 6 will not get rid of anything, so I have to do it and hope they don’t notice/miss whatever I got rid of and most of they time they never notice! Xx

I sometimes set young kids' items in a box out of sight for many months before actually decluttering them in case they request them. But if they don't, I feel it's safer to declutter them after that out-of-sight/mind waiting period.

Kids almost always keep way more than they need.

👏😂 So true... And exactly what I need to do again. I typically put a load of items in a "time will tell" box, that kiddo hasn't played with in a while. He is one of those kids who will notice and ask for every little scrap of paper back, BUT any items he doesn't name (without seeing the box contents) I do let go of after a few weeks. This has avoided the tears (even over a toilet paper tube) several times.
