"Push my fingers into my eyes it's the only thing that slowly stops the ache." Corey Taylor suffered chronic migraines and that's what he's referring to. So you got it pretty much spot on.
I do the same sometimes with my migraines when I can't take pain anymore. It's like in your desperation to free yourself from the pain, you get to a point that anything, even hurting yourself enough to maybe, maybe distract you from the hell you're living is worth trying.

its a good song but i wouldnt say its their best song. the albums Iowa and Slipknot are the best albums for me from slipknot. but you cant go wrong with slipknot in general.
Slipknot has been one of my favorite bands since their debut album in 1999. They are currently sitting in my top 3 of what I'm listening to the most for the last few years. It kinda blows my mind imagining someone having not discovered them till now since Slipknot has been in my life for so long, but you've picked a great time to jump in. They have so many great songs for you to discover.
Knox you're the man. This has been my fav band my whole life, and my parents were even at their debut performance. I'd be so grateful for you to continue down this rabbit hole. They NEVER disappoint. Every album is different. But each of them have insane lyrics and very intense energy. We need more people like you too break down the lyrics and really dissect the purpose of each song and appreciate it properly. But one thing remains persistent with them, they will ALWAYS sound better live!
Metal Mondays are the best & Slipknot is definitely one of my favorite bands. Corey Taylor’s vocal range and lyrics are just so good. I recommend their song Snuff ❤
Bro you did it again! One minute into the video and you already got the song. I love seeing Hip-hop guys expose themselves to metal. The lyricism is just as deep and meaningful. I swear more hip-hop fans would love metal if they didn't let the heaviness scare them off.
You should watch their live performances… they go so damn hard it’s intense. I’ve been in the pit for them live and as a small 30 something year old at the time I thought I might not make it out. The fans are so incredible that bigger guys actually protected me and I didn’t even know them!
I just absolutely love it when people discover the beauty in heavy and harsh music, in the rock and metal genres. It's makes me very happy to see videos like this, as someone who used to and still gets shit for listening to "screaming and shouting, which isn't proper music". Kudos to you
This is completely awesome. It was bands like Marilyn Manson, trapt, Korn, slipknot that allowed me to explore larger amount of music. Grew up with country music. Would love to see you explore country music and blues. Keep up the great work.
Just wanna say thank you guys for recommending starter metal to him. It happens way too often where people get excited and want to just force the heavy stuff down people's throats when they aren't used to it and it turns them off from listening to any type of metal. I'm glad to see he is enjoying this
gotta say, that's the first time ive ever seen someone actually grasp that he was talking about his migraines with that first line, everybody's usually just freaking out about the imagery of fingers in eyes.
I was NOT expecting to hear this already on here. Corey is just amazing. Hope you get some Stone Sour in here, which is Corey's other band. Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero are must watches, as well as Bother and Through The Glass.
First of all, I want to say, rap and metal are my two favourite genres and I always get a lot of shit cause I'm "not a real goth if you like rap" so this new segment is golden cause it shows the same deep lyricism in so many different genres 🖤 Your breakdowns are just something else 👌🏻
Its funny but when you think about so many alternative metal bands incorporate rap on their songs Korn incubus rage linking park ...and so many more Its funny how they overlap
My personal favorite Slipknot songs are Psychosocial and Sulfur. Highly recommend. However Corey Taylor (the vocalist) has other projects you should check out: a band called Stone Sour (my personal favorite song being Absolute Zero) and some solo stuff (CMFT Must Be Stopped is something that is right up your alley 👀)
I definitely second this. As amazing as their band is musically it is hard to understand the energy this band creates by adding their visual stage performance. I was just at Aftershock and got to see them and the energy these guys created in the crowd was insane!

I've seen Slipknot, Stone Sour and Corey Taylor on his own. Let me just say he is so versatile and one of the best lyricists. He is an all around genius in music! I'm almost 47 and I get down with metal daily! Those who don't, really have no idea what they are missing! Love duality. Snuff (live) , vermilion pt 2, eyeless, and psychosocial are also great slipknot songs for diversity of sound for a new listener. Corey Taylor is amazing.
Man Knox, you really can break down lyrics on another level. Corey Taylor has spoken about how he suffers chronic migraines etc. You nailed that shit on the dot, with such little context, crazy as always bro.
You ought to check out Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers The Kaleidoscope (Live in Colorado 2016). Six of the most incredible musicians you'll ever lay eyes on. Clean singing, harsh vocals, a violin, insane drummer, bassist, two guitar players. Magic made into sound.
We need a snuff reaction. i enjoy the live performance Corey did its such a powerful song that always makes me shed a tear (maybe a few truthfully) either way great video. slipknot is such an amazing band and i think just this song can show you how they have such a strong fanbase
The thing I love about metal is the depth to the lyrics, the music and vocals usually expresses the emotions of the song. A lot of the lyrics are written in a way that different people will find a different meaning for the same song. For me duality is chaos and order. The insanity is the fact that what some see as chaos is seen as order by others and vice versa. Emotions and thought are the prime example for my chaos and order theory.
I am in love with the way you breakdown music and I really appreciate how much you really want to know what the true meaning and depth of any music is.
Knox I love metal mondays, and as a big metal fan, please react to Parkway Drive. They're not a really famous group but their music is INSANELY good. I personally recommend The Greatest Fear or Dark Days, but there are many many other good songs. Hope you'll give them a try, keep up the amazing work king!
I'm so glad you see how powerful lyrics and a crushing beat and the skill it takes to do as many beat changes and how it directly relates to you and what you do. I can't wait to see the effect Metal Mondays has on your future tracks.
Your interpretation of the lyrics is absolutely brilliant. I've always thought it was exactly what you first said, that he can't stand to look at the world, but with "it's made of all the things I have to take," it makes so much more sense that it's about stress, anxiety, and life in general. I think even the "you cannot kill what you did not create" line plays well into this: you can't stop the "ache" because you are not the source of it, life is. No matter how hard you try, there's nothing you, as an individual, can do to stop it. Love these videos, great job man.
Enjoying the Metal Mondays, man. So happy to see it become a mainstay on the channel, and I'm here for it! Looking forward to see you delve deeper into this genre.
It would be cool if you reacted to indestructible by disturbed. I think it is a very motivating track with some cool heavy guitars and some great drums
I've been a metal fan since 1980 and fan of hip hop dating back to Master P, Biggie and Tupac. I just want to say that's the coolest break down of a metal song i've ever heard ...nice job!
There are millions who don't understand ANYTHING about Slipknot lyrics, but have been listening a long time. Being able to put a story together from a song on the first listen is impressive. Though I'd honestly expect nothing less from a talented musician. The level of creativity and insight fellow musicians have for each other is amazing.
I am actually enjoying your break down something that I hear in this as I was a younger person and had to break down myself. But it's really cool to see someone younger than me actually going into the abyss and try to figure out what the point was in the 1st place. Absolutely fire I hope these Mondays continue and maybe even double and triple up. I'm 60 ,and my journey goes back into the 1960s and before. I'm blessed to have experienced hundreds of different music examples in my life so far. Your facial expressions are priceless.
What i enjoy about these sort of metal react videos is you can tell when someone is a music lover who can appreciate every sort of genre wether they like it or not and the ones who sort of gravitate to a standard sort of chart music base, which in its self is acceptable as well
You absolutely need to check out Spit It Out by Slipknot, both lyrical and flow wise, but the live performance is a legendary and iconic Slipknot concert tradition.
rap fans discovering metal is one of my favorite things. So many people have this preconception that metal is all just mindless, angry, meaningless, violent... And some of it is, but there's a reason for that anger, and it's things that most people CAN relate to, if they just listen. And because rap is all about the words, rap fans DO listen, and appreciate the rhythm even in very heavy songs where there isn't a lot of melody or traditional "musicality". I love that moment when it clicks and someone goes "I get it now, this is why metal fans like this music."
Havent watched in a few years. Glad to see you are opening up to the depth of what rock and metal offers. People write it off as angry screaming. Its so much more.
BRO! It's so refreshing, hearing a person looking for a human,, relatable interpretation, instead of "oh, yeah, obviously he wants to poke his eyeballs out for the song. Metal artists never use paraboles.
The thing is this . Music is a safe place to go, relatable an expression of self through someone elses voice...Not specific to rock but music in general if you're having a bad day pop in your favorite artist and suddenly your day isn't so bad...

No matter how hard you try, there's nothing you, as an individual, can do to stop it. Love these videos, great job man.
Mate these metal Mondays are amazing there's so many great bands that you're going to love
Loving metal monday's so much. Could you do A Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold, or any song from the same album?
Enjoying the Metal Mondays, man. So happy to see it become a mainstay on the channel, and I'm here for it!
Looking forward to see you delve deeper into this genre.
It would be cool if you reacted to indestructible by disturbed. I think it is a very motivating track with some cool heavy guitars and some great drums
Dude your insights are just hitting the head on the nail every review I’ve seen you have a gift in reading into lyricists minds
Given Up, Linkin Park. 17 second long scream and it's spine chilling
I've been a metal fan since 1980 and fan of hip hop dating back to Master P, Biggie and Tupac. I just want to say that's the coolest break down of a metal song i've ever heard ...nice job!
Slipknot drops so hard, even rappers feel it in their souls.
Love that you're open to break down anything.
Knox, your breakdowns are next level. Make me appreciate songs I already like, even more. Thanks.
Bro, Knox I`ve watched your reactions for years now. You are the real deal when it comes down to dissecting lyrics. Amazing stuff !
Wait and bleed IS My favorite Slipknot Song.. Awesome Song.
One of the best reactions to this song. This song was my entry to this band. Love them.
This is what I have been waiting for! Metal Monday... good to see and hear reactions. Keep going with this
The cords and riffs in this song are so amazing. Hands down to most underrated guitar work
What i enjoy about these sort of metal react videos is you can tell when someone is a music lover who can appreciate every sort of genre wether they like it or not and the ones who sort of gravitate to a standard sort of chart music base, which in its self is acceptable as well
Metal Mondays are seriously my fav. Thank you.
When it comes to metal, depths won't be an issue. You'll always get that WOW moment every time it's amazing!
How is it possible to have such a good analysis the first time you listen to a song?!
Havent watched in a few years. Glad to see you are opening up to the depth of what rock and metal offers. People write it off as angry screaming. Its so much more.
Knox this is why we love you. You came into this open minded and a great perspective thank you
Seeing the drummer lift, go sideways, upside down and turns in circles... epic show live!!
Please keep reacting to metal I am loving it
It’s actually so nostalgic to listen to this song…. This must have come out 16-17 years ago when I was 14 or 15 years old. Learned to play it on guitar years ago
knox you the goat for diving into metal. never expected it. love it man
Great review. Love your show. The video that goes to this song is even better
I like the acoustic version of this song; The video is also powerful as he controls the destruction of the crowed just with the power of his presence.
Had the pleasure of watching Slipknot in Glasgow a few years ago. Loved every second of it, still gives me tingles remembering.
Yooooo. First Metal Mondays reaction for me and I love it. You truly have the best breakdowns bro, no matter the genre.
This guy!! So lovely! I really appreciate your sincere contribution!
Their video is crazy
I am enjoying catching up on your metal Mondays. I’m a metal dude and a lot of these songs have been in my library since before a digital library was even a thing. It’s fun to watch you digest this for the first time. Renews my love for the music.
You would love Spit It Out, really shows Corey’s rap ability
Eyeless has always been my favorite slipknot song of all time
Love that you're reacting to metal now, most people have no idea what they're missing.
This is one of those songs that got me into metal music.
