Let's just say that this is her signature song, in much the same way as Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You", or Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On". Whenever people will hear this song "Akin Ka Na Lang", they will always remember Morissette. It's her original song, written for her as a contest piece in a songwriting competition way back in 2014. Her rendition on the Wish Bus in 2018 made it very popular, with over 160 million views by now, because it was completely live, with those amazing whistles and incredible 14-second no-breathing belting. What makes Morissette a very likeable performer is her beautiful voice and her singing technique, like her squeaks, which we hear every now and then in her songs, whether original or covers, and also her belting style, which is full, rounded, rich and not strained or screechy. It is evident as I was observing you both while listening to her belting, and you also seem well-pleased listening and watching her. As a Filipino, able to speak English, I laughed when i heard "akin ka na lung" 😂 not to pick on them but that just sounded funny. Like you want a lung 😂😂
„Akin ka na“ means „(you are) with me/mine“, „lang“ is a kind of wish-form that turns it into „please be mine“ or „just be mine“. „Hangang“ is „until“. „giliw“ means „(my) love“. The end of the verse is „hangang akin ka na, giliw“ - „until you are mine, my love“. Tagalog also has this funny word duplication constructions: „araw“ means „day“, „araw-araw“ (where she makes the squeak) means „every day“ (somewhat comparable to the English „day-by-day“ or „day after day“, only that in Tagalog you just say „day-day“!)

Another great and emotionally captivating song by Mori in Tagalog is „gusto ko nang bumitaw“. Go for the „live version with band“, not the Wishbus version. (Other people might have a different opinion.) both Version do not have subtitles, but there are dual lyrics in Tagalog and English side by side on the web, so you might want to pull that up while listening.

Even Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande (if they can sing in Tagalog.....LOL ), CANNOT deliver this song the way Morissette did .....with those long. clear and precise whistle tones, plus the breath control and support.....that performance was for the ages and Morissette "owned" that.....they can replicate, but cannot duplicate.....
BTW......you want a longer whistle tone?.....try her version of I WANNA KNOW WHAT LOVE IS on Myx Live.....it is about 16 seconds long !.....prepare to be flabbergasted.....
