Recreating the faces of these people that existed long time ago, mostly from paintings which offer limited information in 2D, about what these characters looked like while they were alive, and translate such images to 3D and make them move and gesticulate, it is indeed like magic. What this technology is capable to achieve is something that was unimaginable just a few years ago. Thank you for sharing this amazing AI work!
@@chrishalle1982 I believe it's more about the painters of the time not being able to recreate a realistic looking pair of eyes. Which makes a major difference.

It's obvious that when AI interprets figures from the past and brings them into a more modern or realistic version, it won't do so perfectly. What do people expect? Perfection? We should admire the creator's work, which is truly impressive.
True. How could it ever be "perfect" when the original image is a painting and not a photograph? The original artist obviously didn't render perfection. The A.I. is correcting the artist's errors. These A.I. renderings are probably more accurate than anything another artist could do.

Wow, you're not easily impressed then, call me stupid but I find it impressive how it recreates clothing and faces photo-realistically even if I also see how imperfect it is, but there are a couple things I almost don't get how they can make it do.
I don't expect perfection, but it is what it is in the end. Not close to reality. The AI makes the people too much nice looking, seems it automatically creates perfect make up on women and faces generally. And then it is senseless to make such videos.
It's great seeing these people rendered so realistically. Their facial expressions and body movements make one feel how they probably moved in their own lives. It gives them back their humanity and personalities.
I enjoyed the clothing textures and the backgrounds for adding depth to the portraits. Bringing the past to life, adds a human perpsective and point of view. Well done!
I❤ these AI recreations - brings tears to eyes on some of them because it’s hard to imagine what historical ppl would have looked like …. Keep them coming ☺️
Amazing! Just amazing! I particularly love the results on women - they are more attractive than in portraits. I love reading history and feel so lucky to know your channel. Thank you and love from Tokyo.
Because the AI gives them modern makeup style which fits modern beauty standards so u find them attractive. Back then this wasn't the beauty standard and the extremely pale skin/thin eyebrows/thin lips etc was seen as more beautiful. Therefore paintings look different because it was seen as the "prettier" version of them
Just think for a second. Of all the people who lived back then that we do know about, let me take a moment to acknowledge the ordinary people who were alive also in those times. They existed too!
Can you make video of Korean historical paintings? Korean portraits are so realistic that it even described their facial characteristics, therefore they can be nice sources of ai. For example, the world’s first drawing which described Vitiligo was drawn in Joseon.
"He was young and more handsome than any man then alive... a man so vigorous and handsome that he might have been made for the pleasures of the flesh... The handsomest prince my eyes have ever beheld... I don't remember ever having seen a man more handsome than he was." - Philippe de Commynes. "In the flower of his age, tall of stature, elegant of person... He being a person of most elegant appearance, and remarkable beyond all others for the attractions of his person" - the Croyland Chronicle. "He seized any opportunity that the occasion offered of revealing his fine stature more protractedly and more evidently to onlookers" - Dominic Mancini (lol) His bones were measured and he was about 6'4", always wore splendid clothing, and once armoured up, was said to stand near 6'7". Sadly, no contemporary portraits survive and even if they did, the portrait quality of the time wasn't great... in England anyway, lol.
Imagine seeing a lost relative again and seeing them as they were in their days. I don’t what I could ever say if I was able to see my dad just one more time. 😢
Fantastic work. I love this heading! I hope to see one day here João IV of Portugal, Afonso de Albuquerque, Vasco da Gama, Francisco de Almeida or some important Portuguese character
Sentimental connection to our past and seeing how these images make them seem more like real people even though they most likely aren't completely accurate. I feel similar emotions when I listen and play lute music from the Renaissance. It grabs my soul and brings me back. It took me surprised when it first happened to me because I didn't know why there was such a connection and still don't.
This is absolutely amazing. I hope in a few years this technology is made affordable to the home user. It would be great to apply this to family members before home video was available.
😢Thank you. Because of this, I have seen great people from the past and the various outfits and environments of their different eras. I feel very touched and happy inside."
Timur does have the look of thunder attributed to him by Kit Marlowe and the sense that he ‘hold[s] the fates bound fast in iron chains’. I love the Medici AI.
Utterly amazing and compelling. I'm curious about the AI interpretation between portrait and final representation. It would seem that in a lot of cases, getting the nose right is really tricky; in some examples, especially with the women; the nose looks a little too idealized, especially on some of the bridges and nose tips. Some of these people appeared to have more of an aquiline structure in the original portrait or more of a hook at the tip of the nose Thank you for these fascinating representations! [PS: I would not want to meet Timur in a dark alley😐.]
The artist also painted with a filter. You know that the painting came across better looking than the actual person for the most part, but it is still awesome to see.😊

These recreations touch my heart for some reason. I love them! ❤
Like a resurrection...
These kind of images should be put into a museum to spice up the art gallery.
It would be totally amazing.
Never heard of any of these people, however, the re-creations themselves are absolutely incredible!
Some seem to clean up a little too well, others seem quite close. Interesting stuff! Subscribed.

Yes. Too good to be true. Royal ppl didn’t marry for looks. Lots of unattractive kings and queens, etc.
It gives the women modern makeup... and for some of them, minor cosmetic surgery.

Actually, historical reports say that he was extremely handsome in his youth, and also quite tall, over 6’.
