If you’ve been searching for a black-and-white film simulation recipe for your Ricoh GR III or Ricoh GR IIIx that you can use for any situation, look no further than Reggie’s Monotone Standard. This film simulation recipe started out as an attempt to recreate the look of my popular Fujifilm recipe Reggie's HP5 but for the Ricoh GR system. It’s not quite the tones as Fujifilm, but it really hits for those high contrast scenes that make the Ricoh GR cameras shine. (Fujifilm X100VI because the algorithm)

@@Reggiebphoto absolutely, I'm going to set it up now ... Question: I shoot with the GR3 and I use the built-in square format 1:1 ratio ... Do I lose quality in my images if I do this or should I just crop square with the native format?

Actually, I did some quick tests and this works incredibly well on the pentax K-1 as well. You have basically the same settings, both cameras being made by Ricoh. I can't say if the rendering is exactly the same but you get a great B&W look with these settings.

You lose to many information in the shadows in my opinion
if that's what you're going for than just adjust the recipe to reduce the contrast and increase the shadow dr
This might sound like a silly question but do we leave the White Balance as auto? I know it shouldn't make a difference but thought I'd check. Great recipe as always 😁

Judging by what you can see by pointing the camera to a colorful scene, or by pressing Fn button when selecting the filter effect, they probably go like this: 1 is green filter, and the rest is warm color filters gradually increasing towards red, such 2, 3, and 4 being yellow, orange, and red, respectively.

Since they’re fixed lens cameras the beauty is you can pick whatever you want for personal.
