The voiceovers on these vids always cracks me up hahaha. “If your engine sounds like this it might be time to get a new one” lol. You should do a vid about your everyday computer set up.
i was on a IIci in '89 with 21" radius (and the monster rasterops video card that powered it) made the workstation a fabulously rare and incredible thing. Mind you, pushbutton phones were pretty cool, too.
Hi, great work. I’d recommend a light machine oil (like sewing machine oil) for the moving parts in the floppy drive, if the WD40 dries out the oil should last longer.
Wow!! 31 years old. The IICi, which looks like that was my first Apple computer in 1993 when we bought it used from a seller in San Francisco. I remember some of those games and programs.
Yay! As old as our country! (Slovak republic)! BTW congrats for 100 000 subscribers! I am not very tech guy but I enjoy your videos and (suprisingly for me) I can understand terms you use! Huge love from Slovakia!
I remember seeing it for the first time when I was in college, and being amazed with the colors, after being used to years of Mac classic/plus monochrome screen.
"If your car engine sounds like this it may be time to get a new one" Brother, I do not wish to alarm you but if your car sounds like this then you are driving a square wave.
I'm an old fashion-vintage mac machines lover, your video are amazing because let us see all that technology comes inside of this machines at time. sorry about my poor english and, congratullations. Greetengs from México...
Awesome! the other one that is broken would be a great candidate for a sleeper PC.. imagine put that retro case but having the internal running modern component and run hackintosh would be just insanely COOL!
Congrats on the 100k subs mate. Your channel has grown quick I remember when I subbed it was at 46k. Can't wait to see more awesome restorations in the future and see some eucalyptus oil sprayed on the play button.
Another good rebuild project sir. Definitely very entertaining. I hope you are well with all the fires in the land of Auss. Thank you for uploading videos during these times. This is appreciated Nathan. (:
Awesome revamp. I used one of these in my first job, using Aldus PageMaker and MacDraw to create engineering training material. Still love them! Well done!
Great video as usual. If Macs looked like that today and you could access the innards with a single screw, I’d be a happy man. Macs used to dare to be different but now every new Mac is identical in appearance to the last. My first Mac was a 1998 iMac G3. Best computer ever.
Nice. I had Mac IIcx and Iici many years back and sold/gave them away. I wish I have kept them. Still I kept Mac Quadra 700 with the same form factor...
Memories, memories... I've owned every one of the Mac2 series, 2, 2si, 2ci, 2cx, 2vi, 2vx, 2fx, except for the 2x for some reason. Ran a 2ci as an Appletalk server at home for a while. My kids learnt on that and many others. Oh them were the days.
That’s the first computer and operating system I ever used. We had them in my school computer/typing class. Great videos by the way! I just subscribed.
That is really cool! I had one of those (I'm old) and recognize some of those programs. That was state-of-the-art back then. I think my next machine was a Macintosh which I still have. I'm using a mid-2010 Mac Pro with lots of upgrades to handle Photoshop and Lightroom. These old tower machines are very upgradeable and expandable (and still very useful).
mac still made tower machines up to 2010? I thought that was the year they brought out the trashcan thing Do you have any idea if those were also upgradable at all?
Don’t know how I found you but so glad that I did. Binge watching and I feel the need to get myself a bottle of methylated spirits and eucalyptus oil just to clean some old tech lying around at home 😍
@@GamingZoneGz7 I always see on RUclips people putting stuff outside. I have often sun in front of my house, but putting something outside in my neighborhood is not an option. Cool! I have a IIci in my collection that I haven't gotten to power up yet. This may be the motivation I need to look it at. So many, so little time ;) Good job on getting that up and running!
Hey Psivewri, the dead motherboard and video card can still be fixed if you know how to solder. Especially the video card that looks fine but doesn't work, the most common issues with a dead video card that doesn't let the computer turn on is a shorted capacitor that is really easy to get online as a pack of.
Congrats!! Here's some feedback for you. Can you use a wider lens and have your hands exposed so that you can have some amount of hand motion going on? Because right now it looks like someone has strapped you onto that chair. Hope you take this feedback in a positive way.
One of my favourite graphics packages was Aldus SuperPaint 3.0. Not sure if it was compatible with the version of Mac OS 7.1 you have there, but as I recall, I was using Mac OS 7.x with SuperPaint on my MacBook 180c. IF you have SuperPaint, you could do a whole segment on it, it's that nice a program that has never been replaced. It had a draw layer and a paint layer. You could draw things, then cut them to the paint layer, or even cut parts of the paint layer to the draw layer. I used SuperPaint for simulations of interfaces and even for backgrounds for presentation slides. I really miss SuperPaint. Cheers!
The cx was a rare limited edition. It was quickly replaced by the IIci which was much better and had a cache card slot as well as a snap-in removable power supply. The ci was a massive hit and produced in huge quantities. You should also definitely get a RasterOps 8/24 NuBus video card for it. Those and SuperMac cards were dope back in the day.
