    I have the nylon Multiac SA and I love it even though I haven't found many sounds that I like with my Roland synth, mostly the horn sounds. But I got it at a music store in Berlin N.H. where their assembly plant is (at least it was back then.) While I was there the Godin rep was visiting the store owner. And when I asked the owner how much the guitar was he looked at the rep and asked if he could sell it to me for $950. The rep said he didn't care as long as the Godin company got their money. So I bought it. Shortly after I got it home, about an hour and a half away, I found one of the sliders was frozen. I can't remember which one. So I called up the factory in Berlin and told them the issue. The next week I met the rep at my post office and in the parking lot he gave me a brand new one to exchange for the bad slider. He drove an hour and a half and I drove a half mile. Now that's service and I still love this guitar and it plays like a dream.

      I lied. I just found my receipt for that SA and it was $995 not $950. They are now more than $2300.

    I have had my Multiac for 29 years and it remains one of my most reliable instruments that I have owned. Mine was the 3rd Godin that hit California in 1993. I just upgraded to the guitar synth to BOSS sy1000 and synth module still works flawlessly. I have the RMC hexaphonic pickups which give the guitar a far more dynamic and transient sound. It is quite a bit more expensive and necessary if you use the midi side of the guitar.

    Thanks for sharing this video on this guitar! It's definitely one of the best guitars I've ever played with. When it comes to the battery, I recommend using an Eveready or Panasonic battery because it's smaller than the regular size "9V" batteries. It fits in perfectly without any hassle. Trust me, give it a try and you won't regret it.

    I solved the battery problem by getting a small battery charger and a handful of rechargeable 9V batteries. I always have 4 or 5 on the charger. I change the battery before every gig and put a few in my gig bag for good measure. I don't really worry about unplugging for breaks, etc. The battery should last through a full gig without unplugging. If you get used to the ritual before the gigs (and have spares in your gig bag/case) you'll be fine...

      Lagrima was my first public solo guitar piece I performed in high school. Since then I have continued to work on this piece and many others. It remains the first piece in every solo show I play. So beautiful and deceptively difficult to play it is a great warm up piece.. Please don't rush the tempo, it deserves to be milked for expression.

    08:11 "You just have to rip it (the cable) out, and hope you are not live in the P.A." ... Well, Chris, there is a solution to that. I had the same "popping problem" with my Cordoba GK Negro. I ended up buying a "silent guitar cable". I bought the "Cordial CRI 3 RP Silent Cable" (3 meters) for about $37. Several companies use the same tech. They can cost upwards of $100, so I thought this one gives good performance for a reasonable price.
    It's amazing in that you can just "rip out the cable" from the guitar that's plugged into a "hot" amp... with no pops or cracks, and you can plug it back in as well with no pops.
    Ok... in the interest of full disclosure, I will admit I will very rarely get a pop if I have accidentally touched the contact tip of the cable before plugging it into the guitar. I'm thinking doing so creates a slight charge on the cable tip, so it will pop... but usually not severely. Just don't touch the tip of the plug while it's out of the guitar, and you should be fine.
    You are welcome. 😇

    I have also been enjoying playing one of these. I agree with what you say about the battery case. I also feel that the 'sliders' on the top for volume etc are rather sharp and pointed, and would have been better slightly broader and rounded.
    Great sounding guitar though. Like you, I wish I had treated myself to one sooner.

    Love this demo. I recently played my second gig (solo voice/guitar) with my Godin Multiac Encore Nylon. Not sure what the difference between the Ambience and the Encore is.....possibly neck width? At any rate, I love the unique sound, and so have my audiences. My Encore was about $1300, so considerably lower in price than yours. I also do NOT have the midi capability, which didn't matter to me. For the two gigs, I had a house PA for vocals, and used a Fishman Loudbox Mini acoustic amp for the Godin. Pretty close to an authentic sound. I've had mine about eight months, and zero issues. (knock wood) Anyway, I avidly approve and endorse the Godin Multiac guitar.

    • @BarkerBroski
      @BarkerBroski  Год назад +1

      It's such a great gigging instrument, you could probably run it through the vocal PA if you didn't want to bring the extra amp. Godin doesn't make the Ambiance series anymore, but their current "Concert" models have the 2" neck (my preference) as opposed to the 1.9"

  • @MrDogonjon
    @MrDogonjon 11 месяцев назад +2

    I have the Multiac grand concert SA. It is a nixed bag of what I dreamed of and what I despise. Amplifying is the main advantage. I struggle with the neck. too thin and the radius on the fingerboard makes it not a concert instrument. The body shape is odd and uncomfortable. The GR pickup with a Roland GR 20 has latency issues but using Electroharmonics Mel 9 masks this pretty well. I do a lot of prog so the Roland provides a good string pad and the Mel 9 has a nice flute and choir voice when I cover Genesis and King Crimson songs.

    It seems feasible to put a switch for the battery somewhere. You just want to make sure it is not in a location that would be easy to accidently hit while playing. You still want to ensure the battery is off when your cable is unplugged, regardless of the switch setting, but the switch should give you the option to disconnect the battery even when the cable is plugged in. If you want to get really fancy, you could add a little LED too, to give you a visual power status.

    • @MrDogonjon
      @MrDogonjon 11 месяцев назад

      The SA version needs no battery as the synth provides power to the guitar.

    A piezo pick up can be adjusted if you remove the small wax ball on the inside back of it…go left’ counter clockwise, till stop, then just barely go right’ clockwise, but you can adjust to your taste..That tip came from Parker Fly guitars when they 1st came out….And it will definitely sound better if you could get a old Roland SRE-555 rack mount unit to run directly into and out to your acoustic amp…..you’ll be amazed how good it is…….Seriously amazed……..! Also, definitely get the MIDI option…then the Godin can play Most guitar sounds with the GR-55..example; like a 335 sound…

    I want to Guitar Center yesterday, i’m playing a bunch of guitars… But I played one of these for the longest time. I mean this one or one quite similar to this. I have to say is a little bit odd because the high Estring just seem to be a little bit too close to the edge of the fretboard. I don’t know what was going on with that. And also I find the placement of those buttons and sliders to be a crime against humanity. If I ever get one of these, I’m gonna get it in black so it all blends together.

    I agree totally, a superb guitar. However, I can only 95/100 because of poor battery connector. It is a Big con. The flimsy battery connector is so unnecessarily cheap. Removing a battery is not easy. This could have been avoided by spending a few pence (or cents) on a a substantial (readily available) 9V battery connector. Unfortunately, the new Mondial versions also use the cheap and nasty flimsy connector. Why?

    They sucked anyway. Lackluster tone.
    So using a a soldering iron, I routed the pickup direct to the outputs. I make sure I use a great quality cord. I put it directly into the Fischmman Loudbox Mini.
