First rock concert I ever went to, back in the 70's.Mothers Finest opened for them. I pity you kids today, you missed the best decade in human history.
This was one of Dave Peverett's last concert before his early death at 56 years old in 2000. He was one of the best of Hard Rock. He almost always saved this song for his last encore song,,,so I will make it the start of my 3 day weekend!!!Whoopee!!!rock On!!-W
This is a great piece of musical history that has been preserved by video, as it'll never happen again. RIP, Rod & Dave, we'll getta party again someday -
Wow! I'd almost forgotten how awesome Rick and Roll was! Easy to do nowadays. I had tickets to see Foghat in Hartford, CT with some buddies, 1982.. Was 16 and would be my first concert-Dad didn't let me go. Alas...
@pwnageinthemaking Loved this band since first heard "Foghat Live" back in the late 70s still rockin to them now 30 years on & lovin it!!!!!! Bigggg thumbs up from a 50 year ol rocker.
Desde Chile........Foghat con Roger Earl, Tony Stevens, Rod Price y Lonesome Dave son una de las mejores bandas del rock..........crecí con ellos y por ahí nos encontraremos......
Back in the 1970's I had 2 slide guitar heroes. One was Johnny Winter, the other was Rod Price, although I didn't know his name at the time, I knew I loved his playing. Hearing what music he has here on RUclips, has only made me like him more. Too bad all these guys are gone now.
Thee best In fact he was also an amazing standard lead in many Foghat songs like Fool for the City, Honey Hush, 8 Days on the Road, Dreamer, Midnight Madness, and many many other songs including his two solo CD's. I seem him play so many times live including so close, I could have reached out and strum his guitar. His fingers were pure magic. As with every great guitarist a lot comes from the heart. I consider him a most versatile guitarist Rock ever had.
how in Gods name could anybody give this a thumbs down??? I sat on stage with these guys when they first came to the states; they where unbelievably tight.
The band has achieved five gold records, including the women's discus at the LA Olympics in 1984. The group remained popular during the disco era, the grunge era, and the Weimar Republic, but their popularity waned in the early 1980s. Roger Earl lists his hobbies as 'walking around, looking at things, crushing my enemies, seeing them driven before me and hearing the lamentations of their women.'
Sorry to hear about Rod Price. I had no idea that he had passed on. I heard about Lonesome Dave quite a while ago. I really dug this band when I was growing up. My older brother had "Energized" on 8 track and I loved it. I bought a bunch of their albums after hearing it.
I agree with you on Duane Allman. I got to see Foghat in a small bar in O'Fallon, Mo. and the UAW hall in Wentzville, Mo. It's sad that their popularity had waned to the point that they had to resort to playing in those places, but I'm glad that I got to see them.
This is the entire original lineup, but much older. I got to see them during this era here in Cincinnati, and it was a big thrill for me. The only person that belongs in the same sentence as Rod Price on slide guitar is Duane Allman... Great video! Thanks!
very well said and its about time someone says it. I'm a pro drummer and hate it when i hear people saying how good they are at guitar hero... yeah here's a real guitar show me how to play it... the only thing good about GH is it brings back a lot of good classic rock and metal tunes into the loop.
Rods phrasing and vibrato are still the gold standard for rock/blues slide guitar. There will never be another master of the slide guitar like Rod "The Bottle" Price
I just can't figure out how 33 people could give this song a thumbs down ? wtf ? .... These guys totally kick ass !!! .... those people must have some sort of hip hop brain damage ... or something !
@Freyja1133 It is Blues Rock dude... at their core, Foghat was a blues band. They kicked it up a few notches and integrated it with their rock upbringing. It is the stuff of legends man... the stuff of legends.
From Wikipedia: 'Foghat are a British rock band who have spent every minute of their existence trying to sound like an American rock band. They had their peak success in the mid-1970s for nine and a half minutes. Their style can be described as "lowest common denominator-rock," dominated by electric and electric slide guitar, one of them is shaped a bit like a square, but it's actually a complex cuboid. [cont]
Damn I love this song. This band ans well as Neil Young were playing this grungy stuff well before the 90s bands. All this is coming back. Love that shoebox guitar.
ah... Mr. Macabre... you've taken the words from my mouth.. I can't believe I suffered though yet another "slow death" of Faghats "Slow Ride". It quite simply makes me regurgitate my meal. And I suffered through a Greatful Dead concert and two Pink Floyd concerts in all their latter years of performance, so I know all about bad jam sessions. But this should be kept at Konocti Harbor Resort in Clear Lake or the Alameda County Fair. Winger rockers harder!
First rock concert I ever went to, back in the 70's.Mothers Finest opened for them.

My 10 year old son knows all the words and sings it EVERY time it comes on the radio !! These guy's ROCK !!!!
One of the greatest live bands of all time. Listen to Foghat Live 77 and crank it up. It sounds as good today as it did when it was new
Ah yes, the great Rod Price. The magician of slide

There is nothing strange and like the good old rock and roll, rock rules.

how in Gods name could anybody give this a thumbs down??? I sat on stage with these guys when they first came to the states; they where unbelievably tight.
And only now do I find out that Price lived only an hour and a half from me. What a legend.

In 1994 Foghat put out a cd called 'The Return Of The Boogie Men'.I highly recommend buying it!
This is the entire original lineup, but much older. I got to see them during this era here in Cincinnati, and it was a big thrill for me.

I miss Rod, he was my love back when, may he always be remembered as the best slide player there was.
Peace
Linda
