Gonna stick my neck out and say this...this to me rivals work by the great Frank Zappa. Until watching this, I was unaware how much Edgar had his 'hands on' this composition. By not only composing this but also playing multiple instruments {I realize the studio version was a bit of a cobble job) in a live setting; I have a new perspective on a song I have heard a thousand times. This version shows the genius of Mr. Winters and his band.

·June 1972 Edgar Winter got his first certified Gold record with the single Frankenstein. Edgar pioneered strapping a synthesizer around his neck while playing this song live. Edgar played sax keyboards and timbales on the recording. The drum solo is Chuck Ruff on the set and Edgar on percussion.Of all the musicians I have to say Edgar was one of the most talented!

    • @michaelbauers8800

And a beautiful synth is was, by many accounts. It was never the household name a Moog became. Stay tuned kids, with Behringer cloning classic synths, an Arp-2600 clone could show up next year. If you ever watch Close Encounters, look for the 2600's big brother, the rare, and nearly unobtainable Arp 2500.

Daniel Slade: This is a good example to harken back to the days of yore where even if there were drugs; it was different: more novelty, sentimental and innocent, along with the aspect for one to experiment with his music. Today's ambiance: drugs are dangerous, and people's creativity is just as unique as cookie-cutter cupcakes, afraid to step away from the ordinary.

6:50 is actually also the keyboard. It's an arp synthesizer :) Great analog machines built with the sole purpouse of creating awesome sounds.

For those of you who don't already know, the title "Frankenstein" is because it was cut together from a lot of different pieces in the studio. He doesn't go back to the keyboard at the end when playing it live is because he changed so many settings on the ARP 2600 it would take a couple of minutes to re-program it back to the original settings.
