The segment 2:04 is my favorite. I remembered seeing college campuses while this soundtrack was playing while the sponsors were mentioned. It brings the vibe of wanting to go to college. Those were awesome memories of watching college football and the ABC themes were nostalgic.
2:03 You MUST all know this about me: Born in 1973 in Seattle. Sonics and Blazers fan. Washington Huskies graduate, and also love the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers. 2000 was one of the BEST years of my life. And, 2002 was the last great year of my life. My Dad unexpectedly passed away in March 2003, and life hasn't been the same since. On one hand, I hear these songs, and think about the fall of 2002, when my Dad was still alive and well, and I was enjoying college football, and how much soon after that, he suddenly passed (we believe an embolism, as he had back surgery the year before). On the other hand, on a positive note, it gives me adrenaline, as I think about those happy 1996-2002 days of my life.
You MUST know this about me, to understand where, when and how I grew up: Born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Washington, Oregon and Oregon State fan. Japanese-American. I have long thought that I'd live to be 48, and pass away in 2021. 1999-2000 and 2002 were GREAT times in my life. 1993-94 and 1996 were TOP times in my life. My Dad unexpectedly passed away in 2003, and life hasn't been happy for me ever since (except 2011-12 and 2016). And, these ABC College Football Songs REALLY remind me of the "good half of my life," when my Dad was alive. If this is indeed the last year or two of my life, these songs are among the memories I want to cherish, during my final months of life. I have been planning for my 2021 funeral, and I want it to be MUSIC based. Sports music, kid songs, Japanese kid songs, TV show themes, video games music. This is definitely a song that I want played at my funeral.
1:37 I associate this with, Fall 2000, Washington just won at Colorado, 17-14, on our way to the Rose Bowl. 2000 was one of the BEST years of my life. This brings back great memories.
I miss this theme Montage when I watched College Football every Saturday as a kid that theme would be the 1st thing I heard before enjoying the game. I still love College today just don't care for the other theme songs like I do this one.
Are you sure this was John Colby? I thought the composer was Anthony Dilorenzo. I even saw a comment posted under his name thanking people for all the appreciation, on one of these videos, years ago.
There have been multiple covers of this, the original version from 1994-96 was actually done by the Michigan State band but I believe written by DiLorenzo, then they brought in an orchestra to rerun it in 97 with John Colby, and in 98 they added several other cuts which I believe were done by NonStop Music. Much later in 2012 yet another redub was created, again by NonStop Music, until this theme was finally dropped after 2014 and the end of the BCS.
I want to start a petition for abc to bring this back who is with me?
I’m in
Count me in!
Me
Yes!! I was born in Seattle in 1973, so from my birth year, you can all see why this song means so much to me!

Chills
I thought that particular one was used more often for flashbacks where Keith Jackson would talk about some old game
Perfectly said. I remember the same thing.
@@TheLocalLt they originally used it for that (the "Marriott Moment"), but used it to return from a commercial break in later years.
@@joltinjacket it was still used for flashbacks too though, I believe it was used for one even as late as the 06 Rose Bowl
Greatest sports theme music in history.
RIP John Saunders and Keith Jackson
Nothing like those tag team combos of Musburger and Dan Fouts and Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson! 💪
Somewhere Keith Jackson is sending it to John Saunders for an update.

2:46-2:49 I LOVE this short part, of about 6-7 beats! Takes me back to happy times.
