@@Apfeljunge666 Alestorm and Gloryhammer are both projects of Christopher Bowes. It had recently come out that Chris and members of the band are racist and sexist. There a reddit thread of the messages. Look at your own comfortability. They also kicked the lead singer of Gloryhammer out for shitty reasons.
@@MetalChillSpine Well I actually looked the story up in the meantime and honestly, its pretty gross and I'm disappointed obviously, but at least Chris' apology was pretty good as far as public apologies go, so at least I dont have to burn all my Alestorm CDs lol
If you're looking for some more good pirate metal bands look up Lagersten (criminally under rated imo) and Ye Banished Pirateers

Why is the accordion so piratey? I can't imagine it being a popular instrument for sailors to play aboard a ship, but it fits so well.
What they're playing is actually called a concertina! It's much smaller than an accordion and was considered a lower class instrument (the german version at least) so you were more likely to see it amongst common folk such as sailors. Unfortunately the concertina wasn't invented until well after the golden age of pirating, but it was a common instrument amongst Victorian age sailors so it has a nautical feel to it. Plus, there were still some pirates around that time frame, so theoretically there could have been concertinas on pirate ships!

This is a great cover. I don’t necessarily enjoy the genre of the original version, but this one married well with the lyrics, in my opinion and turned it into a song I’d want to listen to. That stock song from youtube at the end is a traditional Irish tune, “Donald where’s your trousers” or something like that. It would be a nice one for you to cover as well! The lyrics are hilarious. 😂 Best regards from Portugal. 😄
