Queen Padme Amidala. The most underrated character. She was important to the story. She gave birth to Luke and Leia, only getting the chance to name them, but never knowing who they would become. But her son would save the man she loved, bringing out the good in him that she knew he still had.
The way you said it, it reminds me of the legend of Osiris, Isis and Horus, gods of ancient Egypt. Isis gave birth to Horus after Osiris was killed by his evil brother Set. Then, when Horus became an adult he defeated Set and cast him back into the desert. Osiris is a god of the afterlife, and Isis was worshipped in Hellenistic world, during the period of Alexander the Great's empire and time of Diadochi. Horus is basically a Apollo of Egypt and Set is a god of desert and foreigners. Sorry, just wanted to express my opinion

A memory: On another blue marble planet, much like our own, there lay a garden by a villa. The vines of many types frame a scene, where the old balcony looks on into the clean and pure serenity of Naboo’s lake, one I would certainly like to call home. And there, there is the silhouette. She is draped in the essence of beauty’s aroma, skin smoother than the finest silk, and surrounding her the halo of the light’s reflection off that pure water. There is Padmé Amidala. And if she is not the personification of beauty, then what be that thought of her through my darkest days of childhood? Heaven existed in my thought of her, where peace and love could be found in her smile as she innocently turns, benevolently looking down to me, and in my prayer of need, I ask she will take me in, and that somewhere in this mad universe, I may find the love I so need. In a way, this scene gave me just that. This melody takes me there.
This is spiritual. It seems to describe a goddess in her heavenly abode. And if a fictional character could fulfill this need for you in the darkest of your days, then let it serve as further proof of the beauty of human imagination and resolve.
Me too! I grew up in a very fractured, hurtful family, and when the prequels came out in 1999 when I was 14, Padme was absolutely the icon of celestial feminine virtue and goodness and everything I aspired towards as a young woman. A devotion to justice and mercy and peace, a shining beacon of hope for young adults in 1999 and especially for myself.
I did and it really did not do her any justice nor did it endear me to her as a character. The writer pushed the "goody little two shoe" narrative way too hard and tries to explain away any faults. Like for example, fans complained for years "Why didn't she free Shmi?" so the book tries to show Padme's half-assed attempt to free her and all the bills she written against slavery, blah, blah. The truth is that her handmaidens did most of the work. Padme would have sunken like a stone in a lake without them. There was also no character growth or changes at all except the typical "wanna-be good doer who has to prove she belongs" ploy in the Senate. In the end, Padme didn't feel real to me. And that's a real disappointment. I wanted to like Padme more.
Yep. Did so. I really liked the novel. For a book where "nothing" happens, I sure learned a lot more about the character. I really like EK Johnston's writing style, I find it appealing and engaging. It got me into the story. And the concluding chapter/epilogue, even though we know what happened from the movies, I found it to be soo unexpectedly moving and well done. It added to her story, her depth as a character and her tragic but significant path in the "Star Wars" universe. Ditto for"Ahsoka", another novel I really enjoyed. Besides those inserts about the Siege of Mandalore that appear in that novel...we are about to see in the last season of the animated shows "The Clone Wars" coming out in February 2020.
They should have had Rey be descended from Padme's sister. That would have been a beautiful and unexpected twist that would have really brought things full circle. Daisy Ridley even kind of looks like Padme, at least enough that them being related would be believable. That would have been a much better decision than her being related to Darth Sidious.
She really was a beautiful character, though tragic, from the inside as well as from the outside thanks to gorgeous Natalie Portman and it is displayed very fittingly in this piece of art in my opinion. Something just occurred to me: Padmé has got a sister, right? I have not been into the prequels for a while, but I think her name started with "S"- Sonia or so... And that sister of hers got two daughters herself, who can be seen at Padmé's funeral in Episode 3 and I think there is also a deleted scene in Episode 2, which gets elaborated in the novelization of Ep. 2. Those two girls technically are cousins of Luke and Leia. Weird that our perspective is often focused on Anakin' s storyline. I even believe one of those girls also follows in Padmé's political career footsteps :) So in the end, at least Padmé's spirit and her family's upright legacy live on ^^ Hope you enjoy this little detour in my teen prequel and Padmé loving memories and have a lovely day everyone :3 Edit: I looked it up, the sister's name was Sola and her daughters were called Pooja and Ryoo.
Yeah! And I think Pooja became a senator and was a rebel spy who knew Leia! Not absolutely sure if that’s canon or not, but it’s crazy to think Leia had her cousin next to her for years without knowing
The story of Padme Amidala is soo sad, beautiful and inspiring. She was wise, kind, compassionate, caring and stood up for what she believed in and sought Diplomacy to sort conflicts. Her character was an inspiration for me growing up (I'm gay so I don't fancy Natalie 🤭)but Padme's character is soo soo under appreciated 😢 😢. She loved Anakin so much and the Emperor used their love to manipulate Anakin to turn to the dark side. If Mace Windu had managed to crush the emperor truly I my think she would have became Supreme Chancellor ❤️. Living happily ever after with her twins and husband. Luke probably following her in her footsteps with his kind, determined, compassionate nature as a jedi . And Leia with Anakin's nature becoming a politician like her mother. In an Alternative universe far far away I'm sure they have happy ending
Padme has always been one of my favorite Star Wars characters, I just wished she had a larger role in episode 3. I feel like she could've done something integral to the plot of the finale of the prequels I've had the idea that Padme should've grown wary of Palpatine by the start of Episode 3 in how Pro-War he is to campaign a Vote of No Confidence against him. As Palpatine was grooming Anakin, he would also have to play politics to ensure his plan of becoming Emperor isn't foiled by a senator from Naboo. Eventually the battle of the vote goes down along the War and Peace factions, especially when Padme is nominated to become Supreme Chancellor by her party on her promise to immediately seek peace with the Separatists and return her emergency powers should the Vote of No Confidence succeeds. The vote happens and Padme and the Peace factions lose by an incredibly suspicious razor-thin margin among some Palp shenanigans. I love the concept of having Padme being able to influence the Galaxy without the force nor a blaster but instead her wits and diplomacy. Had she became chancellor she would've stopped Palpatine's rise to power, stop Order 66 as the order could only come from the supreme chancellor, and seek peace with the Seperatists with Dooku's intervention (as he would be dead at this point)
yeah but the thing is at that point in time the fans were really against putting more politics in the movie (which imo was a bad choice considering the politics in this universe was quite interesting to watch and follow through. I think that's why i liked phantom menace a bit more than AOTC)
Beautiful Music. Very well assembled. Across the Stars is one of my favorite pieces of music ever and you captured the energy and beauty of Padmé's theme really really well.
The story of Star Wars 1-3 saw the fall of Padme. From being a high official and powerful in Episode 1, her career cascaded down in Episode 2 and 3 and was so helpless in guiding Anakin. From a your highness in Episode 1 she became so powerless in her remaining life and was just tossed by circumstances.
Made a comment similar to that in a clip of Padme crying alone when she saw the Jedi temple burning from her window. She was so helpless in that scene, especially compared to where she started as Queen in TPM. She fell further than Sidious in that reactor shaft during RotJ.
I believe that was the intention. People were outraged at the prequels and just overlooked this. The way you describe Padmes downfall coincides with the Republics downfall with each movie.
@@gabegalaxy8467 Yes, I mean, in some kind she was binded with the Republic and democracy. When both of it was destroyed, "reorganised" by Palpatine, she lost all her power to live.
The real tragedy is that everything that she had done, even the children she had borne amounted to nothing in the grand scheme of things. After the death of Luke Skywalker(and possibly Leia's soon after) the line was severed and the galaxy no longer relied on her descendants. Listen here - *THIS* is why I dislike the sequels. Not because of the writing or the feel or anything else, but because...in the end it destroyed everything else the previous movies built up. They ensured Padmé's last, permanent death. Not only in the story, but in all stories.
@@Vampyresdontdodishes It is possible that Rey and Ben could be the descendants of the Skywalkers, but Ben isn't technically a Skywalker. Leia uses her foster family's name, Organa, and she is married to Han Solo, hence how Kylo is called Ben Solo, not Ben Skywalker. So its quite a stretch. In this case he's pretty much out of the family. It won't be the best idea to include Rey as part of the Skywalker Family, and it doesen't make sense either. At the time she was born Luke was training the jedi. If he knew his daughter was force sensitive in some way he would have trained her, because otherwise he'll have to live with the guilt that comes with abandoning a kid, especially considering the only reason is that she could be Luke's contingency plan. Additionally Luke shows no recognition when meeting Rey, and does not attempt to properly train her when the opportunity is first presented, making that last point invalid as well.
@@Vampyresdontdodishes But then he's biologically also half-solo, especially when considering how his father had the name. As you can see from my name I'm a wong. My mother's maiden name was Lau, but this does not make me a Lau.

It’s worse because she hits on a boy younger than her. Seriously, that’s Jacob and Reneesme level shit. Like call every law enforcement agency in the known universe. Padme should have ended up with an older mature man.
I hated star wars. I thought it was kinda nerdy. But we watched this in class one day, and the romance was something else. There’s this girl I had feelings for in class, and she and padme were so much alike. Not just because of their same pretty looks, but the same expressions and feelings. After I couldn’t see the girl anymore, I’ve been hooked to watching this movie. Padme reminds me of that girl so much I swear. Its so depressing
Padme was the one who suffered the most and being so kind and humble, because before doing any harm, she preferred dialogue and reason rather than violence and with Anakin she was the one who gave the most: '(. Padme's character embodied by Nathalie was perfect and beautiful
This is one of he most incredible mixes of music and one of the best themes from Star Wars. Padme truly was an amazing character and deserved such a good theme. This is incredible.
Imagine movies where Padme´s children would become sad failures who allowed another Empire-clone rise and never amounted to anything. And her last descendant was father-killing, mass-murdering warcriminal. And that Palpatine who orchestrated fall of Padme´s husband and her death lived longer than Padme´s children. Skywalker´s lived and died for nothing, only causing untold suffering to the Galaxy. Curse you Disney for taking our hopes away from New Hope...
Wow! You created a masterpiece there! This is beautiful and I am lost for words, your beautiful music mix nearly paralysed me, I am just sitting here in complete awe and can’t do anything else than carefully listening to your piece of art! I am so glad this was recommended...
She deserved so much better... Just sort of a head cannon of mine, but I think Padme was depressed for a long while, and Anakin was her only escape. When it was obvious she was losing the love of her life, her stability slipped with him. She's a lonely woman who took on so much pressure by getting into politics at an age so young. I love her character, even if the prequels failed to capture what made her interesting.
me and my dance partner did a dance for our movie week . we chose to be padmè and anakin and this music was so easy to tell a story i think we rehearsed once and then. improvised on the day all the lifts tricks and movement wasnt choreographed and we took first place . that’s how you know the music is good and the story is .
Call the prequels what you want, but Padme was such a strong character. She used physical weapons when she needed to, but she also used intelligence and words to make changes. She wasn't flawless, and she didn't have the Force, but she was much more developed and far surpasses Rey as a character, female or not (though to be fair, Rey had little character development that changed with the whims of the directors).
Great music, really moving stuff. Transitions are good. The Clone Wars section at 5:45 is mastered to a different loudness standard than the film sound tracks, and is in fact distorted when the music gets big on this rendition. You need to turn that clip down and re-export.

On another blue marble planet, much like our own, there lay a garden by a villa.
This is actually so beautiful. You have a way with words - write a book!
Me too! I grew up in a very fractured, hurtful family, and when the prequels came out in 1999 when I was 14, Padme was absolutely the icon of celestial feminine virtue and goodness and everything I aspired towards as a young woman. A devotion to justice and mercy and peace, a shining beacon of hope for young adults in 1999 and especially for myself.
y'all read Queen's Shadow??? It was SO good! Really helps you learn more about Padme and her handmaidens
I've been meaning to
I did and it really did not do her any justice nor did it endear me to her as a character.
I wanted to like Padme more.
chosenmibhar ek Johnston didn’t do Ashoka any justice either. The setting and characters were so boring, I haven’t read that book in like 3 years
Thank you for the recommendation!
Yep.
This makes me want to cry.
her main theme the parts of Anakin's dream and accross the stars i want to play at my wedding soooo romantic
They should have had Rey be descended from Padme's sister. That would have been a beautiful and unexpected twist that would have really brought things full circle. Daisy Ridley even kind of looks like Padme, at least enough that them being related would be believable. That would have been a much better decision than her being related to Darth Sidious.
I like that
Technically Rey being Palpatine’s granddaughter also makes her of Naboo descent like Padme. Since Palpatine was from Naboo himself.
If you look up the skywalker family tree on google go down on images and you will see that Rey's mother is Padmé's sister
That would've been beautiful now that I think of it. I don't mind what they did but I love this.
Maybe Rey's mom could be Pooja, Padmé's niece.
I even believe one of those girls also follows in Padmé's political career footsteps :) So in the end, at least Padmé's spirit and her family's upright legacy live on ^^
Hope you enjoy this little detour in my teen prequel and Padmé loving memories and have a lovely day everyone :3
Edit: I looked it up, the sister's name was Sola and her daughters were called Pooja and Ryoo.
Yeah! And I think Pooja became a senator and was a rebel spy who knew Leia! Not absolutely sure if that’s canon or not, but it’s crazy to think Leia had her cousin next to her for years without knowing
Rest in peace your royal highness/majesty
I remember when I was a kid and I saw the movies how their love story melted my heart. For me those where the best movies because I saw them as a kid.
Charlie Towler beautiful. I always felt bad for Padme and Anakin. Their love was pure and true.

I totally agree, padme's character is very underrated. And I love the alternate ending

John Williams brings any movie and character to life
You hear the beginning of this melody, and then look to this background, you think that Padmé was a tragic soul
Padme has always been one of my favorite Star Wars characters, I just wished she had a larger role in episode 3. I feel like she could've done something integral to the plot of the finale of the prequels
I've had the idea that Padme should've grown wary of Palpatine by the start of Episode 3 in how Pro-War he is to campaign a Vote of No Confidence against him.
There is actually a deleted scene in which she can be seen with other senators talking over the matter
yeah but the thing is at that point in time the fans were really against putting more politics in the movie (which imo was a bad choice considering the politics in this universe was quite interesting to watch and follow through. I think that's why i liked phantom menace a bit more than AOTC)
Beautiful Music. Very well assembled. Across the Stars is one of my favorite pieces of music ever and you captured the energy and beauty of Padmé's theme really really well.

The tragic Queen Amidala.
Anakin's Dream is the most beautiful ost I had heard ever.
"It's okay madam. You may rest now...and live an eternity of peacefulness and bliss. I loved you. We all loved you. Most importantly, he loved you."
Not only in the story, but in all stories.
curtis wong Ben still lives. And there is a good chance Rey is a Skywalker. It lives on.
Additionally Luke shows no recognition when meeting Rey, and does not attempt to properly train her when the opportunity is first presented, making that last point invalid as well.
curtis wong it does not matter what given name Ben has- Leia is the daughter of Anakin Skywalker. Ben is biologically a Skywalker.
@@Vampyresdontdodishes But then he's biologically also half-solo, especially when considering how his father had the name. As you can see from my name I'm a wong. My mother's maiden name was Lau, but this does not make me a Lau.
@@curtiswong7280 it's 50/50,just because we take our father's last name doesn't mean we are more connected with fathers side of the family than mothers. But Kylo Ren died anyway,so there are no Skywalkers anymore,Palpatine won in the end😂😂😂

Music is the highest form of art.
100 times better love story than twilight. This still hurt my heart after all these years
It’s worse because she hits on a boy younger than her.

One of the most beautiful and powerful theme from the Skywalker saga. The character portrayed in the movies doesn't do justice to this music.

The OT was the modern-day hero's journey. The prequels are a modern-day Greek tragedy.

Great music, really moving stuff. Transitions are good. The Clone Wars section at 5:45 is mastered to a different loudness standard than the film sound tracks, and is in fact distorted when the music gets big on this rendition. You need to turn that clip down and re-export.
