    A member of my Discord server (YoshiIsDead) has found a way to get an even shorter first lap on a triple launch coaster by using chain lifts as a booster. This wooden coaster is only 11 meters long (ignore the stats, I didn't bother building the rest of the ride): ruclips.net/video/ziQL4k3wVxY/видео.html. I wonder if there are any coaster types out there that can do this with an even shorter length.

      wow i seriously did not know that would be possible to do in openRCT make it when the train goes up the hill it gets boosted but not enough and guests get confused, and when the guests doesn't make it on the hill the train goes back to the station, going backwards, and when the hill on the opposite side of the ride, it gets boosted to further the speed, i like that idea, i don't know why i haven't though of this, lol. so much information. :)

    • @MarcelVos

    would be cool to see what the shortest in both of these categories would be if you weren't allowed to use bonuses from stuff other than the ride (scenery, path etc.). could also be cool to have a category for "smallest ride footprint", like what's the fewest number of tiles you can take up while still reaching 10 excitement

    I feel like there's one more question to ask: what's the shortest 10+ excitement coaster you can use as a prebuilt design? That is, it would need to get 10 excitement using only bonuses for decorations you can save with the ride design, like paths and scenery pieces, and can't count on bonuses like going underground or interacting with other rides.

    I’ve never really tested the effectiveness but one strategy that I used to use to avoid lift hills or boosters is to build the station at a tall height and have the track immediately drop, as a sort of reverse-lift hill, then put the lift at the end of the track when the train approaches the station, that way when the first car enters the station the standard station speed kicks in instead of the lift speed, and if the ride is short enough the train will have enough speed at the end of the ride to not even require a lift hill at the end because the station can pull it in.

    I'm really happy that you were thorough. You covered every legitimate definition of shortest that I could think of.
    The shortest coaster in terms of tiles would also be a fun challenge. Whichever direction is the longest for a coaster would count. So, a 6x10 coaster would be 10 in "length", for instance, and an 11x5 would be 11.

    • @MarcelVos
      @MarcelVos  3 года назад +1

      For that my record would be 8 tiles, with a giant 6x8 skyscraper of a giga coaster.

    So for the shortest length, you basically came up with Rita Queen of Speed at Alton Towers!
    (Not a dig at you, a dig at how short that ride is!)

  • @hawkticus_history_corner
    @hawkticus_history_corner 7 месяцев назад

    I like how this isn't even unrealistic (sorta), cuz there are plenty of coasters that are rather short, but advertise their "massive drop" or "several loops" or something else as the main attraction.

    I think the only times I've consistently gotten 10+ excitement is when I made "Racin' 'Round the Park" rides, which are Go-Kart tracks that go around the perimeter of the entire park. It works best on larger parks (worked super well on Three Monkeys Park) but can become very expensive.

    Challenges for future videos:
    The ride that has the lowest intensity but at least 10 excitement.
    The ride that has the lowest nasuea but at least 10 excitement.
    The above challenges and this videos challenge, but without any "external bonuses" e.g. scenery, terrain, paths, sychronization, loop bonuses that are from track pieces not part of the ride.

    What a great Video! Really enjoyed this you one, you make such great content :)
    I'd really be interested in what the highest achieveable excitement rating in (Open)RCT might be. How high can it go? And I'd love to see a "ride rating explained" video. Cheers! :)

    • @MarcelVos
      @MarcelVos  3 года назад +2

      The highest achievable excitement rating is 327.67: ruclips.net/video/oVKAD0jCR-M/видео.html
      I do plan on making a video about the excitement rating at some point (I've done intensity already), but it's quite a big topic.
