You should dissect the turbo, and see how bad it is. I could make an interesting video. I'm guessing the shaft had play, causing the turbine to cut into the housing.. That would explain the metal shavings
I think this happened to me, I found metal shavings in my BOV and there was tiny shiny blobs on my spark plugs and in my exhaust ports (I assume melted aluminium)
You should put in the 1.4 into it because it would be more powerful and it would be able to cope with all the accessories that your going to put in the engine
Metal in the intake can only have come from either the turbo dying and milling out the housing or improper cleaning of intercooler and pipework after cutting. With that said the only damage it’ll do is to the cylinder walls but you’d need quite alot of shavings all at once to cause an issue. It’s likely the shavings you’ve got were mostly just going in and getting thrown out the exhaust, theres no way for shavings to get from the intake into the engine oil. If it were me I’d clean out all the pipework and intake, replace the turbo and head gasket and carry on! Only way of knowing the health of the cylinder walls is a visual inspection and a compression test, if all is okay then you’ll be fine. Regardless of what I’ve said, good luck and keep on doing what you do.
loving these videos mate. Honestly you are one of my favourite creators on RUclips right now. Videos are always just chill to watch and I'm not even that into cars but you make these vids entertaining. Appreciate it mate, keep up the good work 🔥⚡👍🏼👏🏼
Also, just imo, I think the 1.0 deffo outweighs the 1.4 in terms of all the pros and cons, just means it won't have as much power but you will still have ridiculous amounts of fun in Boris
I may be wrong here, but wasn't the QG18 already built as a Turbo engine? maybe that would be better power wise? plenty of Almera's around.. but would it fit?
the 1.4 is not a bad engine there is some one running big power with one na arround 160 bhp maybe more 1.4 engine with 1.0 flywheel and gearbox will last a good while
Its quite likely turbo oil starvation rather than the cheap turbo just straight giving up. Its worth hooking a pressure gauge up to the line for the turbo feed. You want to see somewhere around 60psi for a GT17 turbo.
Can’t believe you were going to a head gasket install on old bolts, would’ve been a disaster especially with the turbo pushing the bolts to its limits anyway. Don’t get me wrong it’s not that big of a deal but why risk it when new bolts stents crazy money anyway. Keep it up tho I do enjoy the content
1.0l engine with 1.3 cams xD Don't bother with the 1.4... By the way why didn't you go with a VL36 Turbo? They go to roughly 200hp on a 1.4 tjet and you can get one for like 300 on ebay totally rebuilt :) Should be plenty for this 1.0 engine... A friend totaled his Bravo Tjet at about 400.000 km and the turbo was still the original and doing great...
If turbo broke, - would go into the intercooler first. - so surely its more plasuable intercooler has fell to bits gone into the engine? Surely the cutting out at high rpm, Metal in the oil, Sure the pistons haven't started to see det, and top of the piston ring lands breaking up? Head itself damaged? Burnt a valve seat?
Hello, could you explain me about from 1L to 1.4 swap remapping please. My motor mechanic says that it is not necessary to adjust stock 1L ECU, it does it by itself
No mate get a 1.3L manual they are faster and if you put 1 litre pistons in it and put 1400 Nissan almera injectors also a smaller gear boy it will defo hold the power mate it will be fast 💨
Is it plastic rocker cover coz if it is the milky oil would probably be caused by condensation from it being a plastic rocker cover probably just needs a good run to get hot and should be fine!
Both are solid engines when N/A. But when they’re boosted more pressure is put on the pistons and the 1.0L’s have far thicker ringlands than the 1.4’s so they have a lower chance of failing.
There is a very specific 1.3 with a semi closed deck that is slightly better for boosting but not majorly. For example a 1.0L coil pack has 100 hit points whereas a semi closed deck 1.3 has 110 hit points, it’s not massively better but it is better. I would go for that but the issue is they came in a very specific 1.3 auto which is pretty rare. Also it’s very hard to distinguish a 1.3 semi closed from a fully closed 1.3. Easier to just go for a 1.0L coil pack which has thicker ringlands than the 1.3/1.4’s.
@@JackMcNeillCars there is a guy in my country with a 1.3 turbo (i dont think its from an auto), only a slighty bigger head gasket and minor things like bigger injectors etc, and makes 0.9bar 180hp+/- made in his garage. also have a channel on teaching to turbo it on low cost, by using FMU and not a remap. He as 2 turbo micra's another with 120hp +/- if i recall c/BaguetesGarage
The only way that’s possible is if I paid someone to do it. And I’ve decided that’s not what Boris is about. It’s all about trying to do things yourself. I’m not even remotely skilled enough to do it so I’ve deceived against it.
Get a star light roof! It will fix everything 😂

Do a built 1.4 . . well as built as you can go
Not a bad shout

This is 100% what I was thinking. No need to jump to conclusions and buy an engine.
1.4 obviously!
Love your videos, can't wait for more Boris videos!

I may be wrong here, but wasn't the QG18 already built as a Turbo engine? maybe that would be better power wise? plenty of Almera's around.. but would it fit?
1.4 will make boris feel better I mean you only want the best fro Boris right?
True but I don’t want to have to do the same thing again a couple months down the line you know
If he truly wanted the best for boris he’d do a K20 swap 😏
good video Jack
literally no debate, even if swapping in the 1.4L caused 100 hungry orphans to die, everyone's still choose it cus more power go BRRRRRR
1.4, Jeremy Clarkson always sais POWERRRR not Reliable
Needs the 1.4
Boris needs a Turbo’d K20 Engine 😮💨
1.6 ALMERA SWAP
(fits like a glove in a micra)
Put a 1.4 micra engine in but keep the transmission from the 1 liter more power and shorter shifting
1.4! Go for more power! 😂 Flywheel and pouley from the 1.0 are lighter might swap them tot the 1.4.
surely just put an sr20 in boris
1.4 cams in the 1.0
That’s the plan I thjnk
the 1.4 is not a bad engine there is some one running big power with one na arround 160 bhp maybe more 1.4 engine with 1.0 flywheel and gearbox will last a good while
K20 Swap!!!
I see that cheeky Facebook plug
1.4 for the crack aye
get a 1.4 and put the 1.0L gearboks on!

K swap it 😅most reliable engine in the world and can get shit loads more power 👊🏽👌🏽
Easy to spend others money isn't it
@@lukeyboy01 its sure is
Just put SR20DE in there 🤣🤣
Not as easy as you would think bro
Tbh you should throw in a sr20ve

You can re-use micra head bolts multiple times. Ive built many CG turbo engines and only ever had piston ringland issues
Yeh bro don’t think bolts are a big deal on these
SHES ALIVE 🙏🙏
1.4!!
A 2.0L SR20DE is a pretty common swap from an Almera/Primera why not go down that route for extra power without the turbo?
i feel like boris is just the alternative of phil the mx5
1.4L😌
Make it proper sleeper. Put a ninja h2 engine in or something mad
fully forge a 1.4 or k swap
stick the 1.4 in
Stick a ga16 in it or an sr20 ;)
It needs more power baby, in the meantime get your hands on some pink wrinkle paint for the cam cover🥶

Get a 2.0 nissan primera engine in there
Forge a 1.4
How much did Boris ever make Ive not seen it in your videos
1140 bhp (divide my 10🤭)
tune the oil channels if you put an new engine in?
Put in a vw 1.8 T or a vr5
1.4😎
1.4 please more power for Boris

Forged rods and pistons?
I have a Nissan note e11 06 I want to put a turbo can you help?
2.0 16v
Put a civic engine in it 🤣🤣
13b swap they are small and powerful
1.3 cg13de?
commenting for the P's
Get a 1.4 and remap turbo it
How long did it REALLY take?
whack a k20 in er and turbo it
Okay but consider this: K swap it
Get atleast a Pulsar turbo
Ga16 swap
Hey I own a 1.4 micra k11, why would it be less reliable then the 1.0? Are there like any technical flaws? Things to look for when servicing?

isnt 1.3 better for a turbo than a 1.4? something about internals being stronger. I saw on facebook a few weeks ago

Noo not boris
K20 swap it
You should just buy another cheap turbo n drive it til it actually blows up as ur getting another engine anyways 🤷♂️
Just clean the engine don't need to get a new engine
no k swap for boris? :c

sorry but i think those cons 1.4/1.3 dont apply to them xD
just swap it eheheh
They do.
K swap
Wasn't fixed in ten mins. 🤔🤦♂️🤣
It’s a Nissan, so it obviously needs an RB30 instead of that weak-ass 4cyl bullshit ;)
First?
Bad oil can cause metal shavings, so yeah, people saying the oil looked metallic were correct
Just scrap the piece of junk already
