People still have it pop up in this day and age so this man's remains is one of many keys to unlocking the mystery of this awful condition.
outwestlawns Joseph Merrick agreed to let his skeleton be used for research. He figured he'd recieve a medical diagnosis in a few decades or centuries, so he allowed it.
I'm giving the video a thumbs down not out of cruelty but because I feel mislead. I figured I'd hear what the ACTUAL elephant man sounds like (didn't know he's been deceased for some time) not a recreation from an actor. I didn't click the thumbnail thinking "Woah what a freak I gotta see this!" I was genuinely intrigued and wanted to hear him speak.
It was amazing, in watching this, with all the computers and technology applied in recreating what Merrick's voice would sound like, how strikingly accurate and similar sounding John Hurt's performance in David Lynch's Elephant Man was.
I watched The Elphant Man only yesterday, which is why I searched for this stuff. And I must agree. There is absolutely nothing I can complain about in the mvbie, it's so just so amazing. I'm sure a lot of things in the movie can be described as historically inaccurate, but it's still my favorite my of all time. Once you realize that John Merrick is just another human being, who has had a very unfortunate start on his life, I think you can will be very moved
This man seems more intelligent than most people today, his only challenge was his abnormal growth. I felt sad the way he described himself in the quote, God bless him.
The "elephant man" had his entire life to learn to speak with these handicaps.. so I have a feeling he was able to speak more clearly than this actor who only had a few minutes to get used to them.
I know!!! I have been thinking about that lately. We are so fragile and there are so many people that have something wrong with them. So as someone that has basically nothing wrong with him and is a perfectly healthy person it makes me sick that im not out there in the world doing more. Doing things that not everybody can do. Everyone that's a normal healthy person should really get off their ass (including me) and kick it into high gear. Do good things for this world and help the people who cant not only help the world but cant help themselves.
I wouldn’t say I live a normal life every time I get a stomach ache I literally can’t move cause of how sensitive my stomach is so every time I get a stomach ache I got to hell and back
We are not lucky we have a normal life. They are unlucky they don't. Being lucky means that you, out of a lot of people, are the only one with something good or better than everyone else.
Djizzle96 I think it’s good they didn’t; it would have been both horrifically uncomfortable and, if they decided to simulate weight, dangerously heavy.
From the movie you can see the tenderness of his heart and his dignity and self respect no matter how abused or neglected he was from others. Trying to comprehend what that soul went through is terrifying.
So nobody mentions that big ass drip of slobber at 3:14 Lmaooo(I know it's natural due to a build up caused on his mouth being restrainted in that way.)
Maishida i would think its just like having all that excess spit when you get a retainer. It's the bodys reaction to a foreign object in your mouth or something, im not entirely sure.

Right lol the ways u said that had me dying u made me think his brain melted saying that
Yeah 3:14
2:45 Wow! What an emotional, beautiful speech! He's an amazing actor..
Yeah John Hurt truly is a man of many talents
Until you notice all of the drool coming out of the bottom.
The story of Merrick is very sad but very interesting. From the stories I’ve heard he sounds like a great man that I very much respect.

This man Joseph Merrick had a beautiful soul, he may have had a horrible hard life but he is free from his earthly body and is perfect in heaven in the presence of God.
Carol Driehorst there is no heaven lmao dumbass
AZB imagine being toxic lmao
Why can't atheists mind their own fucking buisness.
Amen🙏❤️
@@ugotrektdude824 Do religious people ever mind theirs? We are exposed to religious symbols and beliefs everyday, some countries are ruled by it. Boo fucking hoo there's atheists on the internet too.
This may be messed up but watching videos like this when I'm sad or depressed helps me snap out of it and makes me realize I really don't have it that bad... people have much worse lives and still manage to be happy
Matthew Hanson that is messed up
croissant 910 no I do that to remind myself that there are people who are worse off than me and u should be grateful for what I get instead of complaining all the time. If also makes me want to make those people's situation better
That's exactly what I was trying to say, it makes me realize my problems aren't really problems at all and it definitely makes me want to help those that are in far greater need then myself
ozen YES
ozen There’re difference types of depression.
*_This man is literally doing the hardest yet interesting and exciting job of his life_*

The poem... it makes you feel so sympathy towards Joseph Merrick and his hardships.

i hate how life works like this. why does this have to happen, i feel so awful for this guy
things happen for a reason maybe not every one better most will agree but GOD has a reason for every little thing buddy
i couldnt justify this for who knows why??? but the Allmighty

+Alpacas-are cool So you are saying that every atheist person is a communist? Well in that case every religious person is a moron 😂
+Alpacas-are cool Mine isn't superior... as it isn't a religion 😂 If you believe in God well I'm sorry to say that I'm already superior 😂
What a poor man! Let's hope he is in heaven now.
He is definitely in heaven👼
Heaven doesn’t exist
Lol
@@lieutenant_hentxi7103 "omg I'm so edgy, lol" grow the fuck up
@Nobody Holy mother of God you got mad, he/she was *NOT* being a dick, you are.
They simply said "Heaven doesnt exist", not "Omg what a loser you believe in God?? 😂😂😂 ugly bastard go to hell"
Im tired of ppl saying "Let people believe in something 😡😡", if you say that then you should also let ppl believe that there is no God.
This made my eyes well up. In the end he was just as human, a man, most likely more emotionally deeper, I have no doubt a most beautiful soul and in touch with his feelings and himself then most men!
What a beautiful poem at the end.
His voice actually sounded beatiful when he read the poem
it's really strong isn't it
Jayla Shepherd not really it was just muffled talking
I just feel so strong man, so strong. I have never felt this strong.
No it didnt
Jayla Shepherd I agree
Watched the fastest talking man b4 this, turned the speed down and forgot to turn it back. Whoops.

One of the heartbreaking story... Elephantman film is amazing
‘Tis true my form is something odd,
But blaming me is blaming god.
Could I create myself anew,
I would not fail in pleasing you.
If I could reach from pole to pole,
Or grasp the ocean with a span,
I would be measured by the soul,
The mind’s the standard of the man.
These are the words from “false greatness”
By Isaac watts.
Brother. Can you also explain the verses as well. Will appreciate it.
BA-HA -HA I have no idea what you are talking about.
It makes me want to cry
Amen. There is a soul that is precious and dear to God in every human being. NO physical ailment can change that, nor should it.

@@Unhelpful You can't be racist towards a country 🤦 you can be racist towards another RACE tho.
Hshsud Ydhdhs Sorry, I meant race. But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know I’m talking about race.
Still they refuse to give up this poor mans skeleton. Even in death he cannot be laid to rest.
outwestlawns Its important they keep it in order to help figure out ways to some day treat Proteus Syndrome [?] And understand how and why it happens and works.
Before he (Joseph Merrick) died, he knew his body was going to be left to medical science. He was alright with it.
dude hes already death long time how dafuq isnt he resting yet ?🤔
They are just bones. He has been gone a long while
The poem was so lovely and well spoked
The number of idiots thumbing this down is so fuckin' horrible. Look at the comments. It shows how cruel humans can be.
...thus is evident in their truly cruel comments. People today are SO mean & hurtful.
Yeah but if they wouldn't "release pressure" this way they'd actually do something. I prefer a few comments over a rise of idiocy and ignorance.
Ya, I suppose the old rule of "Silence is golden" is no longer
I'm giving the video a thumbs down not out of cruelty but because I feel mislead. I figured I'd hear what the ACTUAL elephant man sounds like (didn't know he's been deceased for some time) not a recreation from an actor. I didn't click the thumbnail thinking "Woah what a freak I gotta see this!" I was genuinely intrigued and wanted to hear him speak.
humans have to die, period
It was amazing, in watching this, with all the computers and technology applied in recreating what Merrick's voice would sound like, how strikingly accurate and similar sounding John Hurt's performance in David Lynch's Elephant Man was.
It's unbelievable isn't it
I watched The Elphant Man only yesterday, which is why I searched for this stuff.
Agreed it's an amazing performance, very moving.
People need to stop giving Rocky Dennis a hard time.
Omg😂😂😂😂😂
Cori in da house
My Names Reed lmao
+Cory Baxter best anime
Cory you a busta
his poem is heartbreaking
This man seems more intelligent than most people today, his only challenge was his abnormal growth. I felt sad the way he described himself in the quote, God bless him.
The "elephant man" had his entire life to learn to speak with these handicaps.. so I have a feeling he was able to speak more clearly than this actor who only had a few minutes to get used to them.
We are so lucky we live in a normal life 😭😭😭 lets not waste our time..
Yurri Moni seriously.. U r right. I will
I wouldn’t say I live a normal life every time I get a stomach ache I literally can’t move cause of how sensitive my stomach is so every time I get a stomach ache I got to hell and back
This disease is still around today... it's called neurofibromatosis
We are not lucky we have a normal life. They are unlucky they don't. Being lucky means that you, out of a lot of people, are the only one with something good or better than everyone else.
Spit came out his mouth 3:15
Here’s a like 👍

Thank you, I'm blind

*_You mean saliva. Spit is the action of releasing saliva straight forward and fast. In this case, he’s fucking drooling._*
And?
It sounds so sad so tragic I can faintly understand that voice.

John Merrick was a brave, bold man due to his deformity I would've wanted to meet him 😞 *R I P*
Actually his first name was Joseph not John. But yes you are right about him.

What if the guy has a full face mask of the elephant man and makes you feel like a victim in bed like a little bitch
Bob Schneider fuck dat bitch
they should have gone with the full head to, too see how much weight he had to carry on, but that's just my opinion
Djizzle96 like wearing a fat suit! Brilliant
Djizzle96
I think it’s good they didn’t; it would have been both horrifically uncomfortable and, if they decided to simulate weight, dangerously heavy.
From the movie you can see the tenderness of his heart and his dignity and self respect no matter how abused or neglected he was from others. Trying to comprehend what that soul went through is terrifying.
It must have been so hard to live like that 💔
OK IM STOPING MY RANDOM VIDEO TIME

Ya know, I typically get annoyed by introductions, but this video could really use one.
Not really, it would just drag it out, we know everything we need to know this way anyway.
Bro ppl like you are hard to please,
Can you imagine what that poor man went through his whole life being like that? My God how horrible
Nick Marsala especially back then, today things are somewhat better for people like that.. back then they thought way more crazy without science
Maishida I thought I was the only one that seen it
That was a beautiful poem
