This video is a quick tutorial on how to knit a yarn over knitwise. A yarn over is a simple knitting increase that creates a lovely eyelet. A lot of lace patterns use this to great effect. Unlike almost all knitting increases, a yarn over has no slant. Here's how to knit it.
Step 1: Wrap the yarn around the needle counter-clockwise
Step 2: Continue with your knitting pattern (you may want to secure the wrap with your index finger before you continue)
Pay attention: A yarn over is just a simple wrap. The following stitch is not part of the yarn over! You can close the eyelet by purling the yo through the back loop in the return row.

This is less confusing than the English way of making a yo. Thank-you.

Thanks! Do you have a video about knitting YO on the next row (so closing them)? Like in a hat I have yo and the next round I need to knit them and no matter what they seem really open when doing this cable pattern

well, typically that is the way it's intended to. But you can knit them through the back loop to close them a bit.

@@nimbleneedlestwo thanks! Yeah they didn't say knit through the back loop but it seemed like I should be to make the stitch tighter lol
