In Islam most deem music as haram (impermissible) - not halal (permissible) and for good reason! Some music messes with your mind, emotions, body and soul! There's also songs that do backwards music messages (subliminal) and then there's the Illuminati.. but that's a whole other discussion!

My parents told me that when I was 3, I had a meltdown when they took off a Beethoven record and put on the Beetles. I don’t remember that of course but apparently I was one of those few people that are wired to love classical music. I don’t remember a day that I have not been absorbed by it. It’s the best work tool on earth…..but you have to be wired that way. I just don’t enjoy any modern music. I’m stuck in the 18th century and I love it . Much of those works are rooted in religion, but the church was a very important place for composers to introduce their works. Sorry, a bit off topic, but I completely bypass modern music by living in the past 😀
My mum and even hubby are like that, old songs and music. Modern day songs tend to be trashy and just rubbish to feed your soul really. Very few are sentimental, positive etc.

This is so interesting…and I’ve definitely went down some rabbit holes with a lot of these conspiracy theories about Hollywood and the music industry and basically industry in general. A few years ago I found myself watching a horror movie, a fav pastime of mine, and I realized my body was reacting like zombies were chasing me. I began to question why I found horror entertaining and ever since have been mindful with TV/movies/news…any way the media can influence me. I hate being manipulated. And lately, I’ve been finding myself listening less to modern rap/pop/mainstream music and more towards music that speaks of love and loving expression-which may or may not fall in line according to these theories with the earth tones, etc, but my mind does begin to think more along the lines of love and loving expression. I can’t know exactly what is really going on in these industries but I do try to be mindful on what I watch, listen to and how I patronize as a consumer. Interesting talk guys!

I think it's great you are being more mindful of what you consume, because..it in turn can consume you. I think listening to positive songs with good messages is of course much better and different to listening to songs that are full of negativity, crude etc I suppose music of any kind will still have some kind of effect - even if positive- over the mind and body even if just for the duration of the song, but I suppose that's why we listen to music, to feel good, to focus etc. Just being mindful and taking the balanced approach is good! thanks for listening in!

Listen to your soul and heart yes yes yes perfectly said Noah . I remember in the 1960's The Beatles putting hidden messages in their music, if you played it backwards you could hear it , i ruined lots of records trying to find them,😳 so even back then they were trying to get in your mind. I love music but only if it makes me happy, the lyrics to some songs are soooo depressing, i like it to lift my mood not put me in a sad one. Like Adele has a beautiful voice but those lyrics to nearly all her songs are so mood lowering. I love happy songs , songs that i can dance to in the kitchen 💃🏽 😄. I do listen to one song every single day and have done for years , this is a powerful song and one i am happy for it to be in my mind.I know you will laugh but its ok, to me it means a lot , this is one song that's ok to get in my mind, i love it and always will and as i said i play it every single day. Elvis Presley singing " If i can dream " He sang it in 1968 , i wish the world could be better maybe one day. Loved this video, you both put your points of view across brilliantly. The song i love is on you tube if you have a moment please listen to it i think everyone should hear it even if its just the once .

@@0annonymous Years ago i played them backwards , in the 1960's when i was young and everyone was doing it , i obviously dont now and have no interest to. I listen to all sorts of music , but happy music and do not listen to music with negative lyrics . Talking of negativity your words fail to impress me . I raised my child on my own from when she was three years old. My husband was very abusive and i did not return to the marriage after he put me in hospital for two weeks. He went to prison for what he did, i do know for a fact if i had stayed with him my daughter and i would not be here.
My lovely mum and dad supported me emotionally and i worked hard for my daughter, the father figure she had was my dad , who she absolutely adored. He passed away when she was young, I taught and raised her the best i could, she went to College and University she is a school teacher. We were able to do this through hard work on both sides .
I am not weak i am strong, i respect men but do not need one . I have been through so much in my life and this is not the place to talk about it.
I didn't have lots of "dates" trying to find a man . I didn't need one, i raised my daughter and supported her until she married.
I then did meet a lovely man, we were very close for four years , he passed away with cancer.
My life is spent trying to be a good person and being happy in the little things.
I do not need to find a man i am NOT lonely i have been on my own for many years and very content. In fact i know people that are married and very lonely.
You have every right to comment on what you think but you have no right to tell me what you think i need. Like i said i am strong not weak, i have had to be, to survive all the things i have gone through.
