- Опубликовано: 5 окт 2024
- Today, I am reviewing British Airways in economy class on a Boeing 777-200 from New York JFK to London Heathrow. Find out whether their economy product is any good and how it compares to the competition.

Really lovin' your airline reviews! Authentic, unbiased, and well-balanced. Keep making these!
Thanks a lot!
I believe I'll subscribe because he's not too long and overly critical like some other airline vloggers.
BA oversold my LHR-LAX flight, bumped me to transfer CDG-LAX Air France but that flight was already full too per AF: so got bumped twice to following day and it was AF that finally solved my problem. As you said in video; every single BA staff I encountered either didn’t know what they’re doing or did the absolutely bare minimum. In the endless LHR BA queues (their check in kiosks didn’t work) I saw plenty of other frustrated passengers, ignored and misdirected by BA staff. It was a downright humiliating and dehumanizing experience.
Thanks for making this video, I'm taking a similar flight on Wednesday and flying economy
excellent and quick breakdown with additional insights and suggestions provided. thank you.
Fantastic video! Having flown that route various times with BA, I totally agree. It's super annoying when the service is slow on a red-eye flight.
Thanks a lot!
Heathrow is always my preferred airport flying to/from the UK. Especially Terminal 5 and 2. Other airports are often slower, more old fashioned and noiser.
Thank you for the review this is helpful to us.
BA used to be a decent airline for which I'd pay a bit more. The last BA flight I took taught me that they've evolved into something very average but still charge a little bit more.
Keep up the videos!!! Good content :)
Hiya,
I flew from DEL-LHR on a 9hr flight (due to strong winds)
I though british airways was probably the worst long haul airline I've ever flown on,
The entertainment was broken for the person beside me,
Mine broke MIDWAY in the flight, but it restarted, and their was a lack of good enteratinment options because the system is from 2013!
We had 2 meal services and the first one was disgusting
Breakfast was ok.
Crew were rude, and on the flight the attendants did the bare minimum.
We flew qatar airways from MAN-DOH
And that was Cheaper, Entertainment was GREAT, Food- Amazing, And the crew were a lot nicer.
What a good review, right to the point! At the moment after my recent flights to Orlando I’d give 6/10 for their economy cabin.
Thanks!
I'm loving these videos, Jack! These feel like good mental prep for if I'm ever able to afford travel off the North American continent (my big pet peeve is when people from other countries think Americans don't travel because we're lazy or ignorant or something... naw, man, most of us are broke!). You've reviewed American and alluded to Delta, any experience with United? They're the one I've flown with the most since my home airport is their chief hub, ORD (another reason international travel would be so expensive for me -- from the middle of the country, other countries are even FARTHER away in every direction besides north haha). Also, it always seems you're unimpressed with airplane bathrooms, but they always look clean to my eyes... how much nicer can a lavatory be? Lol can you show us for reference? And one last thing, you had a layover in the UK which is not in the EU, do you have to go through customs for layovers in countries you're just transferring and not leaving the airport? I made the mistake of asking this once in r/travel and everyone just laughed instead of answering me, but you seem nicer than them so I feel like you're safe to ask haha.
Thanks for your comment! I've flown Delta and United in the past but haven't had the chance to review them yet. Lots of airlines have way nicer lavatories in economy (Turkish, Emirates, etc) with amenities and so on. In the UK, you need to do a security check if you transit, but no customs as you are not entering the UK (explained this in my American video). Most countries have security checks but no customs if you're just transiting. The US are a notable exception because you always need to go through customs. Cheers!
Thank you for sharing very informative👍🏿
I agree with your assessment of service and the London transit furthermore American should have received a better rating since they offered superior service. I too avoid transiting LHR whenever possible.
Im traveling with them on the 12th of this month I’ll come and tell you about my flight
I fly BA all the time- I'm GGL member now, it's by far the best airline overall. Love T5, the lounges and overall service
0:50, $80 for a 45 minute drive to JFK is really expensive.
It's NYC 😅 And it is a fixed rate so Uber costs the same
Really? Wow, I see.
I prefer the train and the subway 😂
@@JackRoaming Is there a required 15% to 20% tip on top of that $80 taxi fare?.
Do those economy seats recline on the BA 777? And if so, does the seat reclined infront of you affect you much? (Long legs and hate reclines in front!!)
Yes they do. The reclining is pretty good too. If you also recline along with the person in front of you it won’t make a difference in leg room if both seats were upright, so in my experience the legroom is not that much of a problom
Looking to fly from Washington (Dulles) to Dublin or Edinburgh...any recommendations? I've flown to London via Norse (excellent), and to Paris on PLAY (excellent also). Play does to to Dublin; however, I'm just looking for options. United is horrible and squeezes you into sardine seats with no legroom (and I'm 4'9 and saying that)! Hubby is 6'4...so we definitely need legroom!
I flew on B.A from LHR to LAX in business class, food/drink/ife/seating were pretty good all-in-all., but i found the cabin F.A service was pretty hit & miss almost like the f.a couldn't give a f**k attitude. I loved your flight review there Jack, upfront and honest., video review professionally well made too👍✈
Thanks for sharing video
BA pay their crew so badly that the crew don’t give a damn yet BA don’t care as they have your money already. I wouldn’t fly them any more and I am a former employee of theirs.
What's the seat number?
The flights out from London tend to be better than the return journies from my experience but obviously it shouldnt be down to luck of what crew you get.
I heard from other people here on RUclips that British Airways is not as good now as it used to be in the past-Unfortunately I never flew on British Airways-Do you think it is still the world's favourite airline,as British Airways used to say in the past?🥴
My family have all been crew for BA, the airline is a shadow of its former self. Budget cuts, cheap labour and laying off of older, more experienced, seasoned crew has led to a drastic reduction in standards and service.
Yh they kept the old IFE on the 200ER excluding the gatwick fleet
Pretty much every airline is like that. If you are flying in the economy, the service takes forever to arrive and forever to be collected. I have flown numerous airlines so far, and the economy service was always slow. If you move to the next cabin, it's definitely a different story.
6:17, Korean air and Air China, Boeing 777-300ER has the exact old In flight entertainment TV, outdated and almost not touchscreen, so gonna use the remote and it needs a refurbished.
Why did you not have it in Pounds?
The food is include?
great meal service. fantastic choice. On AA you do not get anything at all. Plus AA has no more international FIRST CLASS CABIN. Fantastic service here
Heathrow is a nightmare. The only thing about it is, the tube being connected to it, generally makes it cheaper to get into central london. And maybe perhaps a bit easier, depending where you are going. I was living in west london so i would always fly out of Heathrow as it was only 25-30 mins on the tube but i was almost always delayed going through it whether departing or arriving.
BA 777s are known to be cramped in economy but the worst is their BA 787-8s washboard seats
Thanks for the flight review Jack. Those 200 series 777s are ancient. Last time I took that route with BA, with the same aircraft type, was 20 years ago ! You are correct in that New York is a business-focused route. I believe it's BA's most lucrative route.
Thanks! Yes, the refurbishment is pretty decent though. Yeah, that's why they don't seem to care much about coach passengers.
@@JackRoaming On that flight 20 years ago I was travelling J (business) class and the onboard service was perfect. In fact most of the other J pax on the flight preferred to sleep rather than eat dinner ... they had obviously dined in the BA lounge before departure.
Seems logical. Need to try out their Club World product at some point!
@@JackRoaming Yes ... but so expensive ! You ought to try Jet Blue another time (although it operates A321s) JFK-Europe as it has received good reviews and, I believe, has good Y class catering.
Yes, I have heard good things about JetBlue aswell. Definitely need to try them out on my next transatlantic trip.@@alexmcwhirter6611
Thank you. Very eye opening.
Sad for it to be disappointing Jack! Great video, keep on the great content.
Thanks!
9:33, Yes, British airways is lacking, slow service and old In flight entertainment TV and it needs a refurbished and attentive cabin crew.
The seats are fucking brutal on their economy section. Really uncomfortable on long haul flights.
Wow what a large plane. Did you check in a bag or instead check in a carry-on for free at the check-in counter. How was the customer service and seat comfort. Food looks delicious.
100 % ABBA, no way i would fly with british airways again , they are a shadow of their former selves
Sadly after multiple recent experiences I can confirm that BA now stands for 'Barely Adequate' at best and 'Bloody Awful' at worst... pale shadow of its former self, especially compared with the big Gulf airlines and Singapore, etc, with their old-school approach to customer service. Most recently, I flew back from JFK to LHR overnight a few weeks ago and the entire central bank of seats on our ageing BA 777 had defunct audio-visual displays for the entire flight. The cabin crew were reasonably apologetic but still - just not good enough in this day and age, let alone for a flag carrier that still styles itself as 'the World's Favourite Airline'. I also fly the Atlantic on United regularly - which itself doesn't have a great rep in the US - but have to say even that feels much slicker than BA these days... (I also flew all the way back from Quito to London last year via Madrid with BA's sister airline, Iberia, on a brand new A350 with stylishly-dressed and attentive crew, felt light years ahead of the BA experience from an airline that I remember being a byword for mediocrity when I was young)
The fact you don’t like chocolate makes your review invalid 😂😂
Hi I love ur vlog i like you ❤
hol up u didn't eat the Chocolate Mousse? U know this is a crime, right? 🤣
totally agree with the result
British airways is one of the worst airways i have ever taken..... So many people around the world have same aweful experience as mine, i believe that those who think British airways Is the Best never experience something good.
Economy class for long haul / red eye flights is not a preferred way to go! I have status with B.A., and I fly Business Class only. I fly from Arizona to the U.K which is 11 hours...when I fly I eat & drink in the First/Business Class lounge prior to the flight. I NEVER eat or drink on the plane...I sleep throughout the flight, and usually awake about 2 hrs prior to landing.
I've adapted to the time change and I feel refreshed 😌...I'll eat breakfast in the first class lounge and get ready for the next flight to my holiday destination! Great video and great commentary! 👍
BA have great seats and food. However, old aircraft and average service
Agreed.
no BA is FIRST. And nothing can compare with them. Well Singapore in FIRST. AA has no more First Class. Primitive
THANK YOU! I will be flying from Nashville to Heathrow in September, basically the same as here. This is incredibly helpful to relieve my stress with British Airways!!
Como te fue ?
@@davidmarquina6648 I am fine. How are you? Did I get it right?
@@josephcollins6033 No, my question was about how it went with the airline.
@@davidmarquina6648 Oh, well, surely 'come' is 'how'? and, most words which look or sound similar to 'fue' have to do with 'to do" or "to make". 'Te' has to be some form of 'you'. Is it "how did it go?" as in How did it go for you? thanks.
Oh! Well, I won't go until September. Thanks so much for your video!
BA are trash nowadays. Their overbooking policy is beyond disgusting. Staff are so apathetic it’s like a sad comedy show. I won’t fly them again, I’ll book EasyJet who in my experience have been way better.
Every airline owned by IAG is shit except for maybe Aer Lingus.. and even they can be iffy..
I flew, February 2024 Rio de Janeiro to London Heathrow T5 on a Boeing 777 200, Economy seat 31 J an exit seat with plenty legroom (paid extra) which was my only saviour the seats were hard and uncomfortable and very slim I am noway large built 76kg the seats were terrible very narrow. Pillows and blanket provided. The food in Economy is terrible, Chicken casserole with rice and stewed vegetables along with Chilean wine, which was OK. I have flown other airlines with far better economy food. BA need to revisit their seats in economy they need to be wider as per many other airlines. Made for a very uncomfortable flight had I not paid for extra legroom the flight would have been unbearable.
😂
