      E.g Thane metro -- pillars but no sign of work since a long time . Project seems to be moving only in Govt offices for release of funds & on paper n news as update. But ground reality very different
      This status quo when Thane is the stronghold of CM Shinde & family since long !

      Dilli mere bhai... 😊
      Abhi baaki sab bachhe Hain metro/rail ke maamle mein...
      Delhi currently has 400 km of functioning metro lines and 100 kms in a very advanced stage of construction which means next year NCR will have 500 km of metro lines. And then there are other lines in plan.
      Now, You are still talking about Metro construction in Mumbai and other cities whereas Delhi is getting in fact has already got the next level of rail called RRTS or RapidX. The first section opened a few days back and full 82 km of Delhi Meerut line will open by 2025. Metro has average speed of 45 kmph whereas RapidX would have average speed of 100 kmph. RapidX and Metro combined would make travel much faster.
      We have Delhi Suburban also quite like Mumbai locals but it's barely needed and so in shambles, we cannot travel like cockroaches any more (sorry, harsh but true words).
      You have to beat Delhi, you beat in other areas but here every other city has a very long way to go before it comes close to Delhi.
      I really hope someday Mumbai has a better metro system than Delhi because it needs it much more than Delhi.

      @@contactpjoshi123 Agreed (although I don’t like the harsh words used).
      Delhi has by far the best Metro/and in the future intercity network (besides also having some of the best roads in the country), however the reality is that Mumbai needed these things much more than Delhi.
      Hopefully all major cities (and even smaller ones) get good infrastructure soon as this will make life for the working/salaried class much easier, and also promote business investments.

    Everytime I visit Mumbai something new has come up. What remains constant from 80's is potholes, traffic jams and water logging.

    • @BasedTruthSeeker
      @BasedTruthSeeker Год назад +8

      The reasons for all your questions. The potholes will constantly arise as its coastal land so bottom soil keeps shifting and sinking ever so lightly every year. Traffic jams will be constant as its a scientific law that more roads lead to even more cars and thus increase traffic. Water logging is obvious because of coastal low lying area and illegal past destruction of natural mangrove protection for Adani gold course and many more projects.

    • @backpropagation8365
      @backpropagation8365 Год назад +9

      @@BasedTruthSeekerlol…Tokyo is a coastal land and low lying. There are no potholes there despite Tsunamis and everything. Mangrove coastal theory about land stabilization is an enviro fraud unproven theory. Again major coastal cities in the world do not have mangrove forests. The reality is bad urban planning, not reclaiming land where needed and expanding land, allowing slums to take up large spaces, poor utilization of available land, poor mainland connectivity etc are the main reasons for the chaos in Mumbai. Mumbai just needs to look at Tokyo to solve its issues. Slums must be redeveloped and land put to high economic use asap, that is the #1 problem holding Mumbai back.

    • @BasedTruthSeeker
      @BasedTruthSeeker Год назад +1

      @@backpropagation8365 Dumb take, cant compare cities with 50x population difference. Usage and operating weights are tremendously different.

    • @KrishnaAdettiwar
      @KrishnaAdettiwar Год назад +8

      @@BasedTruthSeekerhow is that a dumb take? That person is pretty spot on. Where’s your 50x metric from? Tokyo is 2x the population of Mumbai, a very far reach from 50x… Mumbai is making great progress on its metro which I’m incredibly excited about, but potholes are definitely fixable if the right attention is given to it. There’s no excuse considering there are hundreds of coastal cities worldwide that have figured it out (yes, other cities that have higher population densities than Mumbai as well). Also, in your original comment, induced demand is not “scientific law” lol… it is simply a pattern. it’s not as true as the law of gravity itself hahaha

    • @BasedTruthSeeker
      @BasedTruthSeeker Год назад

      @@KrishnaAdettiwar You got what im trying to say. Scientific law- Pattern of Natural Numbers Tomatoe-Tomatoh. Either way the factors to
      Concider are far more than population. Its also about the natural geography. Mumbai was not a whole big island previously but an archipelago which was terraformed into one island in parts. Think of it as more like an island. Secondly the planning that had to be done in the 1960-1980s was completely missed to a large extent giving problems of land encroachments, mangrove destruction which act as natural sea and flood barriers for a particular business man’s golf course famously. So the bottom soil is not stable for a lot of required underground projects. Also another factor is the population density and zoning. You need to take a comprehensive picture. Im not saying its impossible to do scientifically, but all I see is Ahemdabad getting special privileges from what actually needs to be fixed.

    Mumbai's Suburban rail network + metro + monorail + road network + buses (BEST, NMMT, TMT, KDMT, VVMT, Maharashtra State Transport) + black & yellow taxicabs + autorickshaws + private cabs like Ola, Uber etc + privately run public point to point buses + electric point to point bikes for last mile + waterways like water taxi and catamarans (essentially a combination of all types of public transport) makes Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (M.M.R.) affordable and efficient. Things will continue to get better and faster when all stakeholders work together to improve all types of affordable, public transport in the entire M.M.R. and focus on inter-operability across all types of public transport (one card/ticket across all types of public transport in M.M.R.)

I also hope all cities in india are fitted with Large Sidewalks and decrease the car lanes to make a more livable city... This is the future, no matter how many lanes you build cars will keep on coming, the only roads I support are major highways and fly overs like in America where they don't take space on ground but instead on bridge. I hope we have Europe level standards where we never need cars and just walk and take electric skateboards everywhere like in New York and Europe. And that thing would anger people to another level. See, everyday 200 people migrate to Mumbai, so the population is increasing like hell. Moreover, not all people would be able to pay for the metro. Metro is costly! That is why people still move around in local trains or wait at the bus stop for half an hour just because the ticket costs only rs.5 for nearly 5 to 6 kms. Above that, Mumbai is built around the railway lines. Hone ke liye dheere dheere ho sakta hai, but transition mei Jo abhi ho rha hai. I live in the central line so will speak for it, Ghatkopar aur CST rebuild hone wala hai. Ghatkopar ka toh kaam bhi chalu hogya. If they can afford to give AC train services at the same nominal cost then it'll be sensible.

    Great Info video. Line 7 metro alignment is incorrect -> After Airport Colony it goes to Terminal 2 and not Terminal 1. Terminal 1 was an old on paper alignment but not in reality. Similarly line 3 and line 6 does not meet at Seepz instead they will at Seepz Village station. Seepz and Seepz Village (missing on the map) are two separate stations. Similar observation for Line 4 as well, they meet at Wadala station not Sweree

    You cannot have a city of 25 million people with only suburban lines. Look to how Tokyo it's done and how the Kanto area moves more than 40 million people a day. Your goals and targets should be to see what China is doing and aim for that level and see what the Japanese have already created.
    Public transport within Greater Tokyo is dominated by the world's most extensive urban rail network (as of May 2014, the article Tokyo rail list lists 158 lines, 48 operators, 4,714.5 km of operational track and 2,210 stations [although stations are recounted for each operator]) of suburban trains and subways run by a variety of operators, with buses, trams, monorails, and other modes supporting the railway lines. The above figures do not include any Shinkansen services.
