Where are we located?
- 945 12th St, Suite C, Paso Robles, CA 93446 (downtown, very close to the park, for anyone wanting to visit!)
Do we ship internationally?
-Not yet! We have sent a few packages to different countries but found that it is too expensive for us, at least for the time being. If we figure out how to ship books for cheaper, we will let you know!
The detective story was so good😭 I really wish the previous owner could get them back
You girls are basically Living your own hallmark movie!
The real question is...did Tom get his comics back?
Yessss, I was thinking this the whole time!
Not as far as we know, Tom didn’t want to start drama with the person who stole from him. He’s such a sweet, peaceful man and didn’t want any trouble. We wanted so badly to get them back for him but had to respect that he didn’t want us to get involved with that aspect of it!
😢
Wait, but does this known BOOKTHIEF still have a key to your store, @@bookshopbesties ? Might be worth pushing the issue just a tiny bit?
The first thing we did as new owners was change the locks, don’t worry!
Man! Loved the mystery solving. So sad for the building owner’s husband that he lost his books. I know it is a TON of work for you guys to make these videos. But they are so awesome! Hope you can make them more often than not.
What a story! You seriously honored the former owners in the entire process, where a lot of people would have given up or got others involved. Much respect.
So, essentially your bookshop origin is a cozy mystery! Unfortunately, as I read, without a happy endind for the previous owner's comics. You could even organise a "cozy mystery event" later on! Greetings from Greece!
Quite an exciting Scooby Doo adventure you had starting the business. I hope you have plenty of avid readers around and that you will be able to help grow the community with new ones.
I appreciate this time you two took to answer our burning questions! I have one for the next Q&A:
Given the sheer number of books that existed at the bookshop when you bought it, how did you parse through the inherited collection? How did you know what would sell, and what you might consider pap and just took up space? Or did you both just have good intuition on this?
My favorite line was " I didn't learn that in business school" I laughed so hard that I had to pause the video! There are a lot of things you don't learn in business school.
What a beginning! Well done!
You ladies are amazing! What a great story to share, right place right time. I wish you both the best, and love seeing the videos. Keep it coming! ❤
Living the dream ❤❤❤can’t wait to be back
I really loved this Q&A and learning more about the backstory of the bookshop!
You two ladies have taken a thing of my bucket list I am so jealous of you both I am wishing you all the best with your amazing book 📕 store love your Aussie family friend John 🧡💜🧡💜
I'm so invested in your story, I really enjoyed this Q&A. Saying hello from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Honestly, really inspiring. Love watching the whole journey. And we're rooting for you and the bookstore's success and bright future 😀
This is great and so inspiring. You give me hope that I could run a book shop some day! Thanks for these great videos!
Thanks for sharing! 😊
Owning a bookshop with friends sounds like such a cool job. What are your thoughts on a book shop / cafe combo?
Love your backstory! 🥰
Hey congratulations girls!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😁
Watching from Australia. I’m totally in awe (and a bit envious!) of the brave, smart way you have gone about realising your dream. Best wishes. I’m enjoying following your big adventure.
Thank you so much, that is so very sweet of you! We truly appreciate your support 💕
Oh, such a lovely story about how your friendship started. I wish you every success with your bookshop 📚📚📚.
Thank you so much 💖
Love it ❤❤❤
Wow, that was so much more dramatic than I was expecting!
Lol you guys are like a cozy mystery book... book owning amateur sleuths solving crimes. Lol love it.
Haha we love that! Maybe we’ll write some cozy mystery novels someday loosely based off of our experiences 🤣
Hi, watching you from the Slavic parts of south east Europe
Publishing your fictitious business name must be a state or local law. The IRS will absolutely recognize your business without having published anything in your local paper.
Yes, very true! I’m sure it varies even county to county!
I hope krama finds the thief in some form and def get cameras! You think people wouldnt break in a bookshop but it happend recently in my hometown. Needless to say they werent happy with their findings (not alot of cash there and easy sell able stuff) and they trashed the rest of the book shop :(
We wholeheartedly agree! Don’t worry, the first thing we did was change our locks and get cameras haha we have them pointing in every direction of the shop so no one can get away with anything naughty anymore!
So sorry to hear about your local bookshop, how horrible! I hope the owners are doing okay and were able to clean it back up alright ❤️
Didn’t realize you guys are about 3 hours away from me… I had a bunch of books to donate… but gave them away… now imma keep them and someday make the trip to you guys and give you guys the books
Umm, pretty sure that comic book caper was a Nancy Drew plot.
What a coincidence. I'm sure you can google it if you feel the need to verify their backstory.
@@Shantelle6253 Boom. Found it. Hardy Boys Adventure. #19. Dungeons and Detectives. Comic book caper. A callback by the Bookshop Backstory. 🕵️
@@BillyWhaler 🤣🤣🤣 Good job. But you do realize how many places get broken into over comic books right? As for me I just indulged in buying Nancy Drew 1-5 in the old yellow spines 💜💜💜
Wow that sucks that an affordable bookstore is now more expensive
Well we need to stay in business and have to make enough money to do so! It’s still very affordable. Like we said, our books on average are $7, which is still significantly less than a place like Barnes & Noble.
God damn you have to pay $2 more for something that will cost you 2-3x the cost anywhere else? Tragic
