    WOW! Perfect video. Explains everything in detail. I just bought this set with my .432 Ranch Dog .44 mag molds. This answered all my questions.

    I use a 1 pound plastic coffee can with a snap on lid for lubing with the liquid alox. The 'ol lady don't like lube & bullets in her tupperware. You can cut the alox with thinner also. A little goes a long way.

    @duelist1954  11 лет назад +2

    With the Lee sizer you have to lube the bullet first. Don't run un-lubed bullets through the sizer.

    Seems like a bit heavy on the Alox. I use probably 1/4 of that and have no issues whatsoever at target velocities. I also cut with maybe a 1/6 ratio of mineral spirits to help spread it out. You can barely even see the Alox on mine aside from some in the groves. I'm a bit unconventional. I don't size either. Only issue I ever have is occasionally a oversized boolit won't fit the case snugly and gets thrown back into the pot. If your not irritated yet, I shoot them out of factory Glock barrels.

    You can pan lube them. Personally I just wipe the alox off of the exposed bullet before putting the loaded rounds into the storage can.

    Thanks for your videos Mike. They sure have helped me a lot. Lee sure makes some awesome products for reasonable prices. I own a lot of Lee stuff and I have no complaints about any of them. I have several Lee bullet molds (best molds hands down) and I'm using this method to lube. I have no sizers yet but Lee says you only need them if the bullets are too large and none of mine are. I was concerned I wasn't getting enough lube on my bullets but looking at yours, I think they're about perfect. I think for the rest of the Lee molds I need, I'll buy the micro groove bullets.

    THey cast very close to .452, so you could get away without sizing them, but I prefer ti run them through the sizer.

    I would not use alox on black powder bullets. You will end up with very hard, baked on fouling. Black powder bullets need to be lubed with a mixture oil or grease and wax. 50%-50% beeswax to olive oil works well. I use a mixture of 2/3rds lamb's tallow to one third beeswax.

    • @SteelDinger
      @SteelDinger 9 месяцев назад

      So you recommend NOT to use Lee Liquid Alox on cast lead Boolits that will be shoot with Black Powder

      @@SteelDinger that is correct.

    I thin my Alox with mineral spirits to make it runnier, making it spread more evenly.

    I like the look of this system because you don't have to buy what amounts to another press - it's just another die to screw into the one you already have. Also, you're only putting pressure on the bullet from the base end, therefore not so many worries about deformation. Question - instead of tumbling from bowl to bowl, can't you just put the lid on and shake like hell? Also, when MUST you use conventional lube rather than Alox?

    I have Lee push through sizers in five different diameters. I have found they seat gas checks more squarely and evenly than the lubri-sizers. They are inexpensive and very quick to use. Afterwards, I lube with Thompson Blue Angel hard lube in a traditional sizer-lubrisizer (Lyman, RCBS, SAECO) Takes a bit more time with the two step process, but I'm retired and have plenty of time, and not in a hurry. Besides, all steps in the reloading process are enjoyable.

    I take it that the Lee sizer has different sizes for each caliber that you need like for my Rem 44 Magnum Cast Bullets a size of 429 ot 430 for the Keith 240 Gr SWC Bullet etc.

  • @fbrieden
    @fbrieden 3 года назад

    Just my approach with .452" Lee 6 cavity 228 Gr. 1 R and 200 Gr RF: Cast - Lee sizing die w/thin coat of Alox on internal constriction - Size - Tumble lube w/Alox slightly diluted with mineral spirits (first coat) - Dry with forced warm air - Re-tumble lube with same concentration previously mentioned (second coat) - Air dry over night.
    No problems/abnormal resistance pushing bullets through the die.
    I have used this method on 5,000+ bullets and have had no leading issues. My standard bullet mix is 16 pounds of wheel weight ingots and 2 pounds of Roto Metals linotype. Powder charge(s) slightly above mid-range of suggested start and maximum: Bullseye, Unique, and 231.

    Question: What roll does balance play when people design or create molds for bullets? Do they make them nose heavy or base heavy? Do they balance them based on the bullets center of gravity? Look forward to your answer. Thanks for the videos, AGW

    I'm just starting in bullet casting and have cast 25-30 .357" 148 gr wadcutter bullets. My resizing kit arrived with NO alox bullet lube. A-holes. How am I supposed to use my new resizing kit without the lube? Anyway, just to save a little money, I'm only going to roll the bullet sides on a lubed pad, not wasting lube on the parts of the bullet that don't contact the rifling. Thx.

    I would be curious how much of the alox is required. I could read the bottle but the alox is being delivered with 2 Lee tl molds and a 20lb lee pot ect. I have Everything coming except a thermometer. I hope that wasn't a big mistake...

    ok, then this works even better for me, as I am a Beekeeper in N.E. Oklahoma and run 30 to 40 bee colonies right out our back door. No shortage of Bees wax here! ha! If that's the case, you use the same (lambs tallow & bees wax) on the wads, correct? same ratio for the wads?

    I am going to use gas checks for my 7.62 x39 lead cast bullets. The only bullet mold I was able to get was a lee 155 grain regular lube bullet mold. I want to pan lube my bullets. I ALSO have a lee .311 alox and resizing kit. My question is that is the right way to proceed ? Do I resize and gas check first before pan lubing, or do I pan lube and then gas check and resize.

    Another question, do I need to use a specific type of lubricant (like Lee Alox) for tumble lubricating or can the same type of lubricant used in pan lubing be used for tumble lubing?

    • @duelist1954
      @duelist1954  9 лет назад

      No. You need to use a product that flows easily and leaves a thin coat. Liquid alox works. Something else might work too, but I'm unaware of it.

    I read somewhere that the issue with tumble lube is the bullet may gum up the magazines. Now, I do not believe everything I hear or read but what are your thoughts on this? I also read in the same article that this person wiped the exposed area of the bullet after reloading. Thoughts??

    • @BigD-jc6rj
      @BigD-jc6rj 6 лет назад

      It depends. In a rifle it will be easier to run down the bore. If using sabots it doesn’t matter though.
      With a cap and ball revolver, if using pure soft lead, it will shave the bullet as it is seated in the cylinder. This is what you want, as it creates a seal and prevents chain fires.
