I got a Leatt helmet, some Fox elbow and knee pads plus a motorcycle jacket for when it's cold. I took a face plant and got up with out a scratch. Gear is good. I found a pair of 8" work boots that are awesome at preventing ankle bite which is the worst thing you can get learning, I learned from experience.
You are SO right about how EUC users need to be perceived as responsible operators. The first reaction to most is that they are daredevils. This is a legitimate way of commuting about our cities. Thank you for posting.
Wow ! The image quality of your video is impeccable ! Good job on the topic of safety gear. I might add that knowing how to fall is paramount. The more crashing you do as a child and while growing up the better off you are at 60 years old..
To me the most important gear is: Helmet, Wristguard and knees pads. By the way, your are so cute😻. .. I love your videos. I watch every single one!... Ride safe! Regards from 🇧🇷
My parents got me a new helmet for my birthday last month! It’s a Troy Lee Designs Stage. It’s so much lighter and has many more vents than my old motocross helmet, I like it a lot. Thanks for the video!
Very sensible and stylish too. I wear an open face cycle helmet for 15mph or less, full face motor cross helmet for up to 30mph - I don't go faster, wrist guards, elbow guards, knee guards, high ankle shoes. My rides are a KS-6X, S18 and a Ninebot One E+. I'm considering a jacket with protection built in. The light grey jacket Adam wears looks good. Good video, soft professional style, you obviously put some effort into producing them.
Ugh the pink. I still ride without chest protection because I cant find anything that fits or its covered in pink. I'll give the Alpinestars jacket a look though!
Good video on gear. Because it's hard to find gear for EUC specific, you end up with a lot of gear for different varieties of riding. A quick trip versus a long fast ride, and weather.
Don't worry. all they give guys is blues and blacks mainly...we all are limited.....dont get me started about clothes shopping. There are no stores that just sale mens clothing....there... i said it.
I crashed on my Monsyer Pro a week ago. I would have been hospitalized without gear, possibly even dead. As it stands I'm merely badly bruised. It was only a 23mph crash but due to a control board burnout I was slammed down extremely hard onto pavement.
Great vid! I request a Monocat stickerset! On a more serious note, always happy to hear people advocating for better safety gear, especially if there's such a discrepancy in the availability for male and female bodytypes ^^
Thank you for this information. I wear regular skating knee pads and elbow pads as well as wrist guards and a second hand downhill bike helmet that I found at the thrift store . I always think it looks cool to wear all black- I think it represents the EUC coolness better than random jeans and hoodie- like it gives the impression- this chick is sure of herself yet safe and serious. I'm glad you have made the point about EUC's being new and how we should try to always exhibit safety and coolness to make EUC's generally appear safe and desireable as a mode of personal transport. I am just starting out and only go at low speeds, so I don't get armored clothing yet..
I come from a KS14S and got an MSX 84v. I was riding with a simple skate helmet and motorcycle gloves. I will have to upgrade if I want to take advantage of the 50 kph cruising speed.
I recently bought the Beyond Riders shirt, they have CE1 or CE2 padded protection for back/shoulder/elbow that's stylish and comfortable. They have men's and women's in flannel version for winter and mesh version for summer.
Great video! You and Adam are what got me into riding electric unicycles, so thank you very much for turning me on to this amazingly fun and practical Sport and transportation option. I'm in the US, but my family are polish immigrants so I love seeing the scenery when you guys ride.
My worst fall was at 40-50 kmh when my V12 had its pedal snapp off at the 4 screws. I had zero gear that day and got away with bruises on the usual spots + sprained wrist which is still healing 1.5 months since the incident. Today bought Leatt knee guards (they're awesome!) and a full size warm motorcycle jacket with built-in elbow and shoulder guards. Looks fantastic, is a bit heavy (good workout) and provides me the confidence to be between motor vehicles in not too busy traffic. As an added benefit, I must repeat what cat said regarding other road users to take a geared-up euc rider more seriously. Oh yeah, and I have a full-size motorcycle helmet with jaw protection though something less bulky will be needed for summer months (motocross helmet likely).
Anything can happen. I got into bike riding over the last two years. I have a lot of nice bike paths in my area where there are stretches of up to 10-12 miles where you don't encounter any cars. Even on the busiest days, there are not a lot of people on them. I was heading out on ride to the beach. I had a strong headwind so I tucked using my drop down bars. I try to keep my head down also to cut wind resistance. I am not sure exactly what happen, but I veered right on the bike path and when I noticed I was about to contact a fence that prevents you from going down into a large drainage ditch, I think I panicked to move my hand away so that it wouldn't hit the fence and when I did that, it caused my bike to swerve more and ram into a metal post. The bike stopped, my body didn't. Even though the event took a fraction of a second, I do remember thinking that it was a good thing that I was wearing a helmet during my brief flight through the air. Luckily, nothing severe except having a few spots on my body hurt for a week. I would never imagined that something like that would happen. I always envision a collision with a car, person or another bike. Maybe a freak mechanical failure, but not running into a metal pole because I just wasn't paying attention. When you are young and weight nothing, falls are much less likely do to do damage. But I was 59 years old and weighed 215 pounds naked, so accidents are far more dangerous.
You are Awesome great video .You are very informative and you have a very easy to listen voice.Hope you can find the right gear and wish you the best.Peace and Happy Riding Always Sister.😁👍
In California we have Motoport which is a company that creates custom-sized motorcycle gear. You can pick the design, color, add pockets, add reflectors, add armor, etc. for jackets, pants, and even jump suits. Unfortunately it's super $$$. Also, if I ever used them I would fly to their store to get measured because I don't trust measuring myself. They also alter or re-size gear if a person loses or gains weight. It's pretty cool.
Favourite gear is my helmet (Scorpion Exo-510) + Intercom (Cardo Freecom 4+). I ride a motorbike, so I interchange my gear between the two, but the helmet + intercom at EUC speeds means you get REALLY good audio. Recently been listening to audio books as a way to fill EUC time. It's like, "I want to listen for an hour, let's ride for an hour"
This video is about a year old now and I just came by it. I was curious about your chest bag so I started watching. Low & behold I see ME! I'm the dude with the reflective jacket @ 0:28
gearing up is one of the essential things riders must do. I hope you include in your list the Softgle Comfort. It will make your rides more safe while having fun and nothing to worry about discomforts or any unwanted debris that might blurr your visions.
EUCs are so awesome. I’ve had mine for less than a month now and ai never want to be without one again. Mine is a slow wheel though, the V8f. I have a Bike helmet and wrist guards. Now I’m looking around for what other safety gear to get for the eventual crash I’m sure will come at 35 kph. From what I see, lightest full face helmet I can find, pads for the joints and some abrasion resistance (perhaps lazyrolling will do).
Thanks for the video. The search for gear for my wife was a holy grail quest...thankfully it's done now :). The sizing is often really off for women gear, we had to return things more than once. We got the same kneeguards (leatt) and wristguards (decathlon) in the end; very good for the money. She liked the Predator helmet (DH6-Xg) in white and for a jacket we could find a dainese airframe D-1 (white with pink zippers) in which we put a back protector. She doesn't go fast yet so the jacket is fine for "basic gear" as you say, but eventually she might need a full chest protector like you have.
Great video ! Learn a few things and will be upgrading my safety gear--and yes I hear that a lot about the excessive amount of pink used in women’s gear…🙄
I had to travel overseas to get my gear! It’s very hard to find women’s gear let alone PEV-suitable gear. I wear the same Leatt knee guards but in the larger size or for slower trips I found some motorcycle jeans I like locally with slim but effective knee protection, though they’re probably a size too small as that’s all the shop had. My jacket is Street & Steel from the US and it fits ok, but as you point out still not a perfect fit. I can move ok in it. I managed to find one without pink! I sometimes wear Demon crash pads for hip protection which I actually bought for inline skating a while ago. I can’t wait for specific PEV protective gear and especially women’s fit to hit the market. Surely can’t be far off... right? Perhaps we’ll just have to design it ourselves.
Great video Kate. Gearing up is important and I usually always do unless I’m only going to be going extremely slow with some of my scooter friends on the bike path. Thanks for the conversion to mph too we US viewers really appreciate it. Hopefully there will be more company’s getting on board with EUC specific gear as the sport is growing fast. My favorite color is Pink so I like the pink gear and wish I could find more in my size. ✨🤷♂️✨I guess they can’t please everyone. 🤦♂️ Keep up the great content. ✨✅✨You and Adam are Awesome!
How cute is this Gal ? Amazing video couldn't be any better but I'm sure everybody would appreciate it if you would list all of this cool stuff. So they don't have to copy it off of the video. You're the best
Great video! I ride with safety gear also, despite being a slow rider. My Leatt gear however…the right one always slides down and over. I don’t notice until after my ride. I also saw one completely slide over in another video of a ride who had a minor spill. This makes me want to get shielded pants.
Great informative vid! It's funny that my worst falls have been at slow speeds: < 20 kmh. Luckily, I haven't gone down faster. Even with ~8k km on three wheels. V8; Nik+; EX. I stupidly dropped my Nik+ in the ocean. The result of a freak fall, at a very slow speed, next to a marina. Oh, lithium batteries and seawater. Not a good combo! I've only gone down on my EX once when the main board died ~15 kmh. I get a new board Monday! :) My best piece of protection is my pro skateboarder pad shorts. I tend to fall onto my left side. My first fall, V8, I got a huge bruise that had to be drained at a sports clinic. Most of my gear is 3D and kevlar motorcycle gear. It's OK at best. I thought it would protect better. I still have gotten bloody from falls. I would like a full jacket protection yet it's too warm for me. I'll probably get and wear one as the temp drops, here in Maine, USA, as winter approaches. EUC girls! Wonderful! Peace...
The thing I am still waiting for is either a dedicated HUD for helmets or whenever all the smart glasses come out getting apps for those. Great quality lot of effort in these videos! haha not to set our standards too high.
That would definitely help a lot! Even if there is a display on the euc, I don’t like to take the eyes of the street just to look down and read the speed
Another awesome video there and alot of good points made too re it still being too male oriented. Hopefully with the onset of the new Moto IR and the brand new eSC racing that has taken off with both men and ladies categories, this will change soon. Thanks for sharing :)
4:15 hi there Kate, thanks for the video, on Alpinestars website and on RevZilla's video on the jacket there is no mention of abrasion resistance, RevZIlla folks recommend wearing it under a separate abrasion resistant jacket in the video and its comments, not sharing the link as comments with the link automatically disappear, could you provide some clarity on the subject?
Thank you for this video! It's great and I really appreciate you posting this for women. I am not a woman but when asked about PEV gear by women this will definitely come in handy. One piece of your kit that I am VERY curious about is your Pull & Bear STWD reflective chest pack. Where can I find those? I have not had any luck so far in tracking those down. Thanks again!
Having recently broken my hand in an EUC crash, I'm finding that the state of hand protection is frankly inadequate. Gloves and wrist guards just aren't able to keep your fingers and metacarpals from breaking if you hit the ground at 25mph like I did. Interested in anybody's thoughts on more aggressive hand protection strategies...currently toying around with boxing gloves and considering 3D printing some supports/guards to go with them. Only problem is they're awfully bulky.
@@monocat.1011 I wear bilt Dexter motorcycle shoes there cheap, look like sneakers, have a little padding on the outer ankle and best of all they have a side zip to take them off easier.
I bought it from pull&bear in a shop, but I don’t know if they are still selling it. I can only find it on the Chinese website now. It’s called “Reflective STWD belt bag”. Hope that helps :)
Thank you for this great video! I just started my EUC life and this was really helpful. However, the OC spray is illegal here in Finland, and as a 100kg boy I may just sit on the bully until police arrives. 🧐🥰
have you looked into any of the Knox motorcycle gear for women.. for me the company seems to be decent in body ergonomics design and cut(I have a lanky body style) I ended up with a summer friendly urbane pro mk2 jacket
Thanks for this one, we are just trying to get gear for my girlfriend who have ordered her first EUC and I was thinking to write you, since as you mentioned, there is not really much options for women :) well you were faster with video. Just from curiosity, did you try also Alpinestars Bionic Tech V2 (that one which is Adam wearing). My girlfriend was trying it and in store seemed ok, but since she is not rider yet it is hard to say if it could be also an option. Thanks
Hello! Great video. I am just getting into riding with my husband and have a begode 14". I am using gear I have from rollerblading and snowboarding right now but need to invest w/ better gear b/c my husband does longer/faster rides and I might want to be able to go up to 50kph at some point. At least i want to fall well, as I'm 52 yo :). I am reading a lot about level 1 vs level 2 gear and also about hard shell vs impact protection (ie/what is more important, sliding or crash protection). I am bit on the smaller size, about 62kg, 167 cm, so finding things to fit with level two protection is challenging. Also, we mainly have heat here (even in the winter, the coldest days are about 20 c- summers may be 40c +) Any pointers would be helpful. I live in the UAE and can have things shipped from about anywhere. Thank you!
Hey, thanks for your comment! For going up to 50kph, most mountain biking or motocross gear will be enough in my experience. I like to wear mostly motorcycle gear, as most jackets have multiple layers and can be adjusted for colder or warmer seasons. For higher speeds I’d definitely recommend getting a good pair of motorcycle boots and a jacket (and maybe some pants) that are abrasion resistant. :) Hope that helps!
I just got a lazyroling armored reflective 21 jacket and its super great but way to hot still at 18 c ;P I have wrist guards a pass helmet and no knee pad.. hate wearing those. xD does those white things give your knees some kind of mobility and / or bloodflow?
I guess a belly bag would be better. Its healtier and more comfortable to carry weight with your hips instead of with your shoulders. Center of gravity would be lower also.
They "love the feeling of road rash on their skin.."
I'm dying🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I got a Leatt helmet, some Fox elbow and knee pads plus a motorcycle jacket for when it's cold. I took a face plant and got up with out a scratch. Gear is good. I found a pair of 8" work boots that are awesome at preventing ankle bite which is the worst thing you can get learning, I learned from experience.
You are SO right about how EUC users need to be perceived as responsible operators. The first reaction to most is that they are daredevils. This is a legitimate way of commuting about our cities. Thank you for posting.
Thanks, was looking for this. i'm thinking of buying protection first before going for my first EUC
-you make safety gear look cool… which is extra cool.

Wow ! The image quality of your video is impeccable ! Good job on the topic of safety gear. I might add that knowing how to fall is paramount. The more crashing you do as a child and while growing up the better off you are at 60 years old..

safety absolutely no.1 priority, you never know when you need it. thanks for sharing and about time i get my chest pouch and proper Alpine suit.

Nice video! Keep up the good work.
Monocat looks surprisingly like the 'girl version' of Adam. Nice content, MC. Keep up the good work!
First I’ve heard that hand protection is inadequate. That’s something to think about.
I also have motorcycle boots which helped in a car accident, because that's where the impact was.
I also think about buying motorcycle shoes, to have that extra protection. Which one do you use? :)
@@monocat.1011 I wear the Sidi ST. They give protection all around the leg and still allow for walking easily in a grocery store.
@@monocat.1011 I wear bilt Dexter motorcycle shoes there cheap, look like sneakers, have a little padding on the outer ankle and best of all they have a side zip to take them off easier.
Great video. Truest quote- 1:04 atgatt
I love that black gear you wear in your videos. Is it hot in the summer though?
Surprisingly not that much. Even though it’s black, it is well ventilated so as long as I’m driving it it fine :)
Where did you buy the chest bag? I like it a lot but I can't seem to find it available online.
I bought it from pull&bear in a shop, but I don’t know if they are still selling it. I can only find it on the Chinese website now. It’s called “Reflective STWD belt bag”. Hope that helps :)
I like the blk and green style.where can I order?
Great vidéo ! 👍👍
Thank you for this great video! I just started my EUC life and this was really helpful. However, the OC spray is illegal here in Finland, and as a 100kg boy I may just sit on the bully until police arrives. 🧐🥰
Thank you for feeding the cats👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
have you looked into any of the Knox motorcycle gear for women.. for me the company seems to be decent in body ergonomics design and cut(I have a lanky body style) I ended up with a summer friendly urbane pro mk2 jacket
Thank you for the video!!! Where can i find the reflective bands you use???
FemPro have great protective gear for woman
Obviously all the gears increase the confident in speeding. I felt it straight away after buying a fullface helmet, feel secured at high speed.
Awesome gear
YOU GO BABY GIRL 1
Thanks for this one, we are just trying to get gear for my girlfriend who have ordered her first EUC and I was thinking to write you, since as you mentioned, there is not really much options for women :) well you were faster with video. Just from curiosity, did you try also Alpinestars Bionic Tech V2 (that one which is Adam wearing). My girlfriend was trying it and in store seemed ok, but since she is not rider yet it is hard to say if it could be also an option. Thanks
Helmet with chin guard is essential.
Girls clothes have the smallest pockets. Why?
Talk to a tailor and see how much they charge to take the jacket in at the waist.
Hope that helps!
Great video! Is there a place where I could buy protective gear and/or EUC in Bulgaria! Greetings from Serbia..
ikd how you fall but I ALWAYS impact my hip. 4:44
awesome keep it up
What alpinestar top are you using? Do you have links for this gear?
Liked, subscribed.
What brand + model are the elbow guards you are wearing for your basic gear?
We also need more companies making EUCs for cats. There's a disturbing lack of EUCs and protective gear targeted at felines.
About how much can one expect to spend for all the safety gear? Thanks
