im in the same boat. i would love to own one but the second hand prices are still wild. i would love for carryology to make a dragon 2.0. maybe a smaller version? the design i think is awesome. everything is very functional.

I definitely feel you about the hunt as well - I missed out on a bag I REALLY wanted the other day and I will honestly probably never see it again. When it comes to something like the Dragon I would say be patient. They're not cheap, but prices can be all over the place. Eventually some people will let them go for a reasonable price, so unless you need it asap, I would just set a ceiling you're willing to pay and wait for the right deal. I've got another mod vid planned for the Unicorn 2.0, just waiting on some fasteners to arrive! And @atlxzsx I think an updated Dragon 2.0 would be amazing! I bet they do it eventually, the question is just how long will we need to wait for it?... Cheers fellas! Always appreciate the support!🍻

Realistically, I'd say current prices on the low side for a pack in good shape is probably $600-$700. Not cheap, but I've seen some people ask $1k+ and I definitely would not pay that right now. I do think it is the type of pack that will hold its value well, and probably continue to trend up in price until and unless a better Dragon 2.0 comes out. Who knows for sure when that will be, or if it will actually be a legitimate replacement or just a different option. IMO, the Unicorn 2.0 is not a Unicorn 1.0 replacement if you like the Unicorn 1.0 size. Hope that helps! Happy hunting!🤙

Not 100% sure I've got it right, but I believe retail on the Unicorn was $350, and retail on the Dragon was $450. Unfortunately, I didn't buy these at the drop. The Unicorn came out in 2020, with the Dragon to follow in 2021. Both go for significantly more than their retail prices now, with the Unicorn typically being more expensive. Hope that helps!🤙
Found a BNWT Dragon early last year and was in love with it. Didn't give the Unicorn v1 much thought given its after market price was ridiculous and it doesn't pack as well as the Dragon. I am a father of two and the side water bottle pockets on the Dragon was essential. But then the Unicorn v2 (Pegasus) came and I just had to order it, I digged the look and a sucker for Olive Green. But like most, I find it a bit small in terms of capacity and the way how it looks on me (6 ft). Guess what, a week after picking up the Pegasus, I ended up picking up a Unicorn v1. Though it still doesn't pack as well as the Dragon, but it has been my EDC to work and travel when I am just by myself. Just really dig the way how it looks and it is def more work appropriate when compared to the MCB Dragon. But def Dragon is the far more superior pack in terms of how well it packs, the capacity it offers when you have go out / travelling with your kids.
Appreciate the detailed, thoughtful, and insightful reply! I definitely agree, especially if you're a Mystery Ranch tri-zip fan, the Unicorn 1.0 takes the edge on looks. And no question, generally more workplace appropriate. I work in the Defense industry so I have a bit more latitude in that regard: basically anything camo I can bring to work just fine and no one will ask any questions. Some packs (the Unicorn 2.0 being an obvious one) are objectively more difficult for me to use than others, but I keep them anyway because I like them for whatever reason, and I find excuses to use them. Part of the fun of the hobby! And where I was first thinking the Unicorn 1.0 wasn't for me, now that I have one I'm interested in giving it a fair shake in the real world to see if I'll come around. Hi! Thank you for the comment! I had to use a translator to see what you wrote, so I hope I reply correctly. I am 5'11 with a long torso, so the Unicorn 2.0 size, even with adjusting the harness is right on the edge of being acceptable for me. I made another video that shows what I am talking about. The lower padding that sticks out on the bottom of the Unicorn 2.0 just barely makes it to the small of my back. With the Unicorn 1.0, the size is much larger, and so for me, it sits on my back more comfortably, even though it very obviously feels like a larger backpack. I tend to prefer smaller packs in general, but in this case, both size and comfort wise I find the Unicorn 1.0 to be the better choice for me. I just wish it had the color options of the 2.0, the rear laptop opening, and the beaver tail. All that said, if you are happy with your Unicorn 2.0 then I say just continue to enjoy it! I find with packs the more you use them the more you get familiar with them, adjust your packing method, and appreciate them in ways you didn't right at the start. I hope that helps!🤙
Got lucky with a local seller that had both the Unicorn 1.0 and Dragon brand new as a second unused set that he purchased at the original drops. It wasn't cheap, but he still gave me a great price on them, and is a super cool dude to boot. We drank some coffee and talked bags for a bit. I'm really appreciative he sold them to me so I could make this video and see what both have to offer! Obviously, they're pretty difficult to come by otherwise...

I have the 2.0 and i really like it but i do think it fits into a different carry type than the dragon. The 2.0 really is kinda odd for me because its too big for an EDC bag (i carry the cerberus) but its too small for a weekend bag. I usually dont go for a 'middle size' bag cause it cant do either EDC or Weekender well. but it brings me joy when i look at it. it makes a great office and gym bag. The dragon is probably imo the best design. i would love love to own one but i dont wanna have to sell a kidney. I also love the water bottle pockets you mentioned. I consider myself a 'dumper' meaning i just wanna toss something in and go. without having to go through pockets or opening the bag up. as a dad of a 2yo, the easier you can get to stuff, the better.

What is the retail prices of both of these? Curious of the difference.
