I purchased one of these last year and just got around to using it. One of my hobbies is to smelt iron ore in a bloomery style furnace and I had been hand crushing ore before. Let me tell you this piece of equipment is a GAME CHANGER. It is super easy to use and would eat any ore I threw into it. I was easily able to process ~ 100lbs of roasted hard rock iron ore (lots of hematite) into a find sand consistency in about 2 hours. Even with all that material processed, the internals of the mill are in very good condition. Works like a charm and I would highly recommend to anyone needing to crush up rocks! 10/10

My video where I crush limonite shows my discharge tube attachment, and it's kooks up to a small 2 gallon bucket, with a vacuum. But I have thought about making a base plate that discharges straight into a 5 gallon lid....maybe in the spring I'll make it.
As a professional fabricator/welder. I would advise enclosing the impact chamber. The directional force just bounces the rocks around. That's why so much energy is being lost. And the wear would be less. It kind of does the job but I'm sure you don't get the right classification due to the impacting variable. Just my 2cents.. You can delete this comment if its not positive enough for your marketing. lol I won't be upset :)
I don't delete anything...I'm not one of those kind of people lol! I too am a fabricator of 30 years, and prospector of a little over 10 years, so the first one I made for myself was the standard round shape like everyone else does, and I found that I was being left with lots of larger material because it was just rolling around the inside edge and avoiding the hammers. After experimenting, I settled on the octagon because it forces the material to bounce around inside the angles. I got a much finer crush in a single pass than with the round body. Yes, it's much more work to build, but it works great. Plus, 4 years now, and several improvements, it's pretty dialed in. I'm working on larger units right now, for more production based mining, but still gearing towards the small scale/single miner category.
@@southernoregonprospector9074 sounds like your an experienced metal guy like myself. Great work though and with the videos too. I am planning on a separating screen before the outlet to maintain the classification. Maybe box off corner quadrants in the pipe to achieve the octagon shape... :) just thinkin out loud. I'm about 2 years into prospecting and 20 years in fabrication/welding. Built my own aluminum highbanker and just designing a portable jaw crusher and my final will be a portable mill like you have made. Love gold prospecting and so does my son. Definitely turning into a passion. keep it up talk soon again one day! :)
@user-bi8ux2ky2k Very cool! Once you have gold fever, there's no cure. Checkout my build video too, if you have an hour to kill. Plus my discharge tube with screens can be seen on my ebay page. Heavy pans!!!!
I have a bunch of home projects that I need to work on for July, so I should have more available in August. I do have 1 more unit that I'll be uploading tomorrow. It's the hammered light blue open tube model.
Thank you! The newest version has a much bigger discharge hole and more secure door. I love both placer and hard rock, but hard rock prospecting usually leads me to old ghost towns and long forgotten areas, which I absolutely love! I have a trip planned to the RMPA hard rock claim soon, I wanna do some vein sampling and metal detecting.
That's cool. Yeah those grinders are not designed for the stress of crushing, but they're cheap, so it's a wash. I'll be posting a video soon going over the best grinder I've found so far, and it works great with the mill! It's a variable speed, 5amp, and the best part is that it's not expensive.
@@southernoregonprospector9074 yea at $10. a unit , I buy 3 or 4 at a time ....can never have enough of em . Not putting my Mikita or Milwaukee on it .

I'm sold on your invention as it is, but if I could use it to process even more recycling then you single handedly will have answered my prayers. I've been searching for an inexpensive option like this for years now. As soon as I can scrape the money together I'm gonna hit up your eBay account. Really excited about this.
@@DeliveryManBoy thanks, I appreciate the kind words! If you don't end up getting one from the current batch I'm making now, don't worry, I'll be making more in the next month or so. Take care!
When will the next batch be ready? I want to get one! We have lots of ore and quartz here in Northern AZ. Will any side grinder work? If not which one do you suggest?
So sorry I didn't see your message earlier. I just listed the last batch of 30 for the year...I think there are 27 left. Any 4.5" or 5" grinder will work, but I do suggest a variable speed grinder if you can get one. Run it on the lower 2 settings and this will make sure the bearing on the mill lasts longer, as it's rated at 5800 rpms. I'm also working on making an external bracket that will allow you to mount a standard 110v motor to the mill, and most of those run at around 3500 rpms. LOTS of new things coming in 2024, including new larger mills! Stay tuned!!!!
I don't see any USPS restrictions for that area, so if you put your address into the ebay listing area it should give you a quote for the shipping charges you would have to pay. I just sent one to Saudi Arabia last month and it was about $85 USD to ship...hope that helps, and thanks for looking!
I just got back from a prospecting trip and will update the ad in another few days. Check back often, as sometimes I'm so busy I don't have time to post when a new ad goes up.
Mainly it was because of the hardness factor of stainless versus regular steel. I think stainless has a 90,000psi rating, so they last longer...but I'm almost finished with making hardened steel hammers that are a direct fit for the mill, and they have a rating of over 250,000psi. The second factor was cost...I can get them in bulk, at a fairly decent rate, which I pass onto my customers and offer replacement sets cheaper than you can get anywhere. Third is availability...even if someone doesn't want to buy replacements from me, they can easily pick them up at any hardware store that sell standard 5/16" shackles...but they'll pay at least $7/8 per shackle.
Thanks! This was the original version, and the newest is even better, with a larger discharge hole and better cover. I just sold out of the latest batch but I'll have more available in about 3 weeks. Plus I'll be making a NEW version that has a removable lid instead of the anti-kickback lid...so customers can choose which one they want.
Just subscribed, really like the looks and functionality of your crusher. My only concern is the outlet, curious to see how that plug holds up over time. Otherwise, I believe you have a winner and looking forward to future modifications. Currently I crush with a dolly pot, this would be a game changer for me.
Thanks, I appreciate the nice comment and the Sub! This design is one that I played with personally for a few years, while crushing my own samples. The hole plug idea came after trying out different types of doors, release gates, etc. I've used the plugs for other projects, and when I tried it for this application it worked perfect. It's a simple pop in plug that grips tight with it's prongs, and you can simply spread the prongs open if it starts to feel loose. Plus you can get a new one at any Home Depot or Lowes type store. The plug on my personal unit has been good for over 2 years so far. Also, by making them all with the 4 screws around the hole, it leaves people with the option to build their own type of cover plate if desired, but it's mainly there for the feed tube mod. I'll soon be releasing the feed tube attachment which will make doing larger quantities of the same material much much easier. No more having to open the door or pop out the plug. Video on that to come soon too.
Just an FYI, the newest version of the Mighty Mill has a much bigger opening, with a solid steel door. No more hole plug! Link is in the description if you want to check it out.
Sorry, I have been out camping for the last week. The answer to your question is YES! I have several customers who use the Mighty Mill for crushing chips and boards. I will have new mills available on August 1st, just look for them on Ebay. Thanks for looking!
I believe that's a manual jaw crusher, which would work great with this. First jaw crush it down down to smaller pieces, then run it through my mill to make it powder.
@@kevinerickson2595 yeah, as long as you get something to get the job done, that's all that matters. Fyi I'll be coming out with a few larger models very soon...buttoning up the designs now. Hopefully they'll be ready by early September. I'll post videos showing those as well, very exciting!
The axle has a 5/8-11 shaft, so in essence it should be able to no problem...after some kind of base is made up. I'm actually getting ready to make a video where I hook it up to a 3/4 hp variable speed grinding wheel, which happens to have a 5/8-11 shaft. If it works out good, I will probably fabricate bases to support using a grinding wheel, which would be better for the bench top use option.

I'm keeping the price set at $375. Checkout the discharge tube attachment which is still available on ebay now.

Hey I have a question concerning an issue I am encountering. I'm using a makita cordless grinder and no matter how I hook it up it ends up on a slight tilt which causes the metal rings on the inside to hit the side walls. Is there a solution that you can think of to fix this? Or should I go buy a new grinder of a different brand? TIA.
I've seen some Makita's that have the beveled heads, which makes the handle look like it's at a slight angle when screwed in. If this is the type of head on your grinder than yes, it may be causing a slight twist in the grinder when attached to the mill, because it's trying to pull the grinder close to the brackets, which can cause the shaft to be off center. The only way I can think of fixing the issue is to look for some kind of a wedge type washer (thin on one end and thicker on the other), and use it to fill in the gap between the mounting brackets and the grinder handle hole. I could also research your specific model and possibly make you a specialized bracket just for your grinder...if you would like? Message me at soprospector@gmail.com and we can discuss it more in detail, and I can include pics if needed.

The grinder that you use is up to you, it can be battery powered, or the electric plug in type. The axle arbor is 5/8-11 threaded, so all US standard grinders will work with it, but if you have a European model grinder you will need an adapter. The adapters can be purchased on Amazon or Ebay for just a few dollars.
Can you give good reliable sources where a person can buy (through mail) good quality gold bearing ore in the size your unit will take at reasonable prices? I will purchase your unit in a second if I can locate trusted sources that sell good ore or even the finer type stuff you had in the baggy in this video at positive ROI rates. Thanks for your help (if possible) and I look forward to making a future order from you! One more thing would it be possible to be put on a waiting list for a pre-order if I send you a down payment? OR what do you suggest. Thanks again! Brent

@mtnman66 I hear ya. I'm working on setting up my own website this year, but for now I guess maybe we could work something out outside of ebay. Message me at soprospector at gmail.
It uses a 5/8-11 arbor, so as long as your motor has that thread size on the axle/spindle you should be good. You are right though, the cheap Chinese grinders do break quickly, but keep in mind that they were never meant for that purpose. I've had the most luck with a 5" variable speed grinder, set at the lowest rpm rating of 4,000 rpms.

Southern Oregon Prospector im curious about the discharge attachment... if the machine was to run continuously and you were feeding in rocks... would larger particles not escape? or is there a mesh to keep in the large particles and let small particles out?
@@TheSummersProject it comes with 2 screens, one has 1/16" holes and the other has 3/32" holes. The larger pieces don't pass through until they are crushed fine enough. You roughly end up with between 100 mesh and 200 mesh material. You can run it without the screens as well, which is what I do sometimes when I want to just quickly crush some material. I tilt the machine back a little, feed the rocks in, shake a little, and then tip it forward and it pours out the tube.
@@TheSummersProject yes, you can see photos on the Ebay sales page, just go to Ebay and type in "Mighty Mill" and then look for the listing that says discharge tube attachment.

Mill price is the same a when I first started selling them, $375. Shipping is free to the USA, but all foreign orders require shipping costs. I ship worldwide, and I would guess Tukey would be about $80-$90...but that's just a guess.
I am impressed and may want to purchase, except that 19 March 2021 There are zero units available on ebay on your first link and your second link is dead. Why is that? You did not show the the particles that did not go through the mesh for each material. That is important to show the efficacy for your demonstration. Why didn't you show that? Your warranty says 5 years yet you say we can hand it down to our grandkids and the casing will last forever. I expect it may take closer to 50 years for my grandkids to use this. A piece of metal (casing) may last a long time but a warranty is generally on ALL the parts of a stated unit. The moving parts are usually the most relevant parts for a warranty. What is the point of a warranty that does not include the parts that are most likely to fail? May I recommend that you do NOT bother with a warranty at all (other than standard consumer protections).
Sorry it took me some time to get back to you, but I was out of town due to a family emergency. I just updated the links for the newest batch of 20 mills that will be ready to ship on April 30th. They sell out fast, which is why the links are sometimes bad, but I try to fix them as soon as I have time...bare in mind that it is just me, I do everything myself, including building the mills, making any videos, and all ebay stuff. To answer your other questions, I will try to do it in order and as short as possible: -I didn't show all the particles for each material because I didn't think it necessary, they all came out the same -My warranty covers the casing (mill body) and the welds, not any of the parts that can break or wear...I think that is a good warranty, and I often give customers free or spare parts out of the kindness of my heart. My wife frowns upon this practice by the way. -All of the "consumable" parts can be easily found for good prices, such as the shackles, or even the bearing. I strive to make a high quality product, and am always looking for ways to make it better for my customers, all while keeping my prices low...even when the steel market shoots up over %75 like it has in the last 3 months. If you decide to purchase my mill than I thank you, and if you don't, then I thank you for at least looking. Let me know if you have any other questions, and make sure to checkout that new link, it's up now. Have a great day!

You have to get these to WA Australia the prospectors out there would go crazy for one of these
Actually Australia is one of my best overseas customers! Lots of very nice prospectors over there, and some ate finding great reef gold. I'd love to find someone to do a trade with :-)
You should make one with a screened dump port opposite the load port and have it dump into a 5 gallon bucket for continuous processing
My video where I crush limonite shows my discharge tube attachment, and it's kooks up to a small 2 gallon bucket, with a vacuum. But I have thought about making a base plate that discharges straight into a 5 gallon lid....maybe in the spring I'll make it.
Yup iam subscribed already your craftsmanship is the best I just bought some more chains my mill feel like brand new thanks again
Awesome to hear! I am working on hardened steel hammers now, and hope to have them available this summer. I'll post a video when they are ready!
Great piece of engineering !
Thanks! This is the original version, so the newest one is much better.
Cool equipment
Hi, when will you have new units available on Ebay? It's pretty much sold out, good for you!
I have a bunch of home projects that I need to work on for July, so I should have more available in August. I do have 1 more unit that I'll be uploading tomorrow. It's the hammered light blue open tube model.
Looks pretty cool. I've always been a placer miner but am very interested in hard rock. Great looking machine you have there!
@@southernoregonprospector9074 I really enjoy going to new places of history to me. I would love to meet up with you when you head up to the claim. ⛏⛏

I built one similar , same grinder ...lil tough on Harbor Freight grinder . But works well .

I just saw that go through, and it's my favorite color of the non hammered ones 😁 Thank you!!!
@southernoregonprospector9074 I sent out the list of colors to friends and family, and the sky blue came back with 16 votes
You're welcome 👍
And I'm really happy you ship to Canada cause the only other crusher I could find was over $1000 Canadian, and I just couldn't bring myself to pay that much
Could you create maybe a blade attachment for grinding up PLA plastic? maybe. Just a thought.
I have thought about that....maybe I'll experiment with a few designs next month.
Can I change the bearing myself on my mighty mill ? I think It juste blew up
Hi from South Africa. Can it be shipped and how much. Thanks
I don't see any USPS restrictions for that area, so if you put your address into the ebay listing area it should give you a quote for the shipping charges you would have to pay. I just sent one to Saudi Arabia last month and it was about $85 USD to ship...hope that helps, and thanks for looking!
When are you having them back in stock?
Hi, is the thread made for 5/8"- 11 spindle?
Hello, can you pls advice when you can have one for sale since on eBay says out of stock. Thank you
I just got back from a prospecting trip and will update the ad in another few days. Check back often, as sometimes I'm so busy I don't have time to post when a new ad goes up.
Good video
Thank you! I'll have a new video out in a few days showing how I do quick on-site sampling. Spoiler...I found good gold too!
Why stainless steel shackles? What are the properties that made you choose them instead of steel?
Looks sick
Thanks! This was the original version, and the newest is even better, with a larger discharge hole and better cover. I just sold out of the latest batch but I'll have more available in about 3 weeks. Plus I'll be making a NEW version that has a removable lid instead of the anti-kickback lid...so customers can choose which one they want.
@@southernoregonprospector9074 sweet! 3 weeks I can wait
Can I use this for pcb recycling? After they have been depopulated ?
Sorry, I have been out camping for the last week. The answer to your question is YES! I have several customers who use the Mighty Mill for crushing chips and boards. I will have new mills available on August 1st, just look for them on Ebay. Thanks for looking!
I got the Krazy crusher, works ok
I believe that's a manual jaw crusher, which would work great with this. First jaw crush it down down to smaller pieces, then run it through my mill to make it powder.
@southernoregonprospector9074 and then I bought the cobra chain hammer mill to finish, it uses a Dewalt hand grinder to run it also
@@kevinerickson2595 yeah, as long as you get something to get the job done, that's all that matters. Fyi I'll be coming out with a few larger models very soon...buttoning up the designs now. Hopefully they'll be ready by early September. I'll post videos showing those as well, very exciting!
Since it can be mounted is there any way to have the option for pulley for a gas motor? Just a thought
Good idea. Thank's.

Hi, May I Know what is power source use for the grinder
The grinder that you use is up to you, it can be battery powered, or the electric plug in type. The axle arbor is 5/8-11 threaded, so all US standard grinders will work with it, but if you have a European model grinder you will need an adapter. The adapters can be purchased on Amazon or Ebay for just a few dollars.
Can you give good reliable sources where a person can buy (through mail) good quality gold bearing ore in the size your unit will take at reasonable prices? I am retired but with covid and my age it is hard to travel around but I love to process and pan at home. I FIND THESE GRINDERS BREAK DOWN WAY TO MUCH CAN THIS BE HOOKED UP TO AN ELECTRIC MOTOR???
It uses a 5/8-11 arbor, so as long as your motor has that thread size on the axle/spindle you should be good.
You are right though, the cheap Chinese grinders do break quickly, but keep in mind that they were never meant for that purpose. I've had the most luck with a 5" variable speed grinder, set at the lowest rpm rating of 4,000 rpms.
With a love joy joint you could put a motor on it. You can have this one for free. If you want any more tips it'll cost you.

To answer your other questions, I will try to do it in order and as short as possible:
-I didn't show all the particles for each material because I didn't think it necessary, they all came out the same
-My warranty covers the casing (mill body) and the welds, not any of the parts that can break or wear...I think that is a good warranty, and I often give customers free or spare parts out of the kindness of my heart.
