    Tip: once you squeeze the lemon half, put it back through the other way, you’ll be surprised at how much more juice you get!

      I have done that and couldn't get much more, but I will certainly try it again. It might depend on the lemon.

    I've frozen my avocados in halves to make guacamole later but I've never thought to make the guacamole and freeze it in ice cube trays. Fantastic idea.

    This sounds like a great way to preserve guacamole.
    I put a deposit on a Harvest Right freeze dryer during their sale last month. 😊
    I wish that we had a restaurant supply store like what you have in our area.

    I don't freeze guac but I freeze pesto in ice cube trays all summer. A light coat of nonstick spray makes those cubes pop right out. You might want to try that.

      A freeze dryer is great but I was 77 when we got ours, so I was doing fine without one in terms of preserving food. It is great that there are alternative ways for preservation.

    Great minds I guess, hubby found the avocados on sale too. Mine are not quite ripe yet, so I have time to run a batch of onions.

    I love how you prepare this! I use the chunky mild pace brand in mine and a bit of sour cream. etc about all the same too! garlic and onion powders sometimes, depends on who helps make the avocado sauce.

    i just took out gravy from the FD - 50 hours to process! i hadn’t thought of doing guacamole…i just can’t justify spending the money on avocado. the ones you purchased look pretty good in size.

    • @trailgrazers3690
      @trailgrazers3690  Год назад +1

      I think most were about medium size, but the price was about 50 cents each so we got a great buy on them. We got them at our favorite restaurant supply store.

    I love this idea! I have always used canned petite tomatoes(drained) in my guacamole but the Pace salsa should be more flavorful. Thanks for the tip. Will this work dehydrated? I don’t own a Freeze dryer.

      I am not sure--it may turn the avocados brown before they dry, but you could try a small batch to check it out.

    Great video. If you have no vacuum sealer I n the road, how long will the guacamole cubes last?

    • @trailgrazers3690
      @trailgrazers3690  7 месяцев назад

      In the freezer I think you can count on 6 months. If freeze dried but not vacuum sealed maybe a bit longer.

    • @gorelowjeff5054
      @gorelowjeff5054 7 месяцев назад

      No i meant once its open. No freezer, just freeze dried, but with no option to vacuum seal again. @trailgrazers3690

    Hmmm- is there a reason you squeeze your lemons “upside down”? I do mine the other way.

    • @trailgrazers3690
      @trailgrazers3690  Год назад

      The shape of the squeezer fits cut half down better than the other way, but I will try your way to see if I like it better.

    Twice now my guacamole has been wasted - I haven't put them in a glass jar. We've put them in mylar - they come out beautiful but taste metallic - nothing I can do to make them edible - same kind of recipe - tried twice and avocadoes are expensive - I'm wondering if they have a chemical reaction with the mylar or is it the tray liner you are using because I don't use that either - what is the tray liner - I do not see it on your amazon page???

    • @trailgrazers3690
      @trailgrazers3690  Год назад

      Interesting. I am not sure about a reaction, but it sounds like that may be the problem. I use black oven liner rolls that I cut to fit. I just put it in our Amazon store so you can take a look.

    • @myrandabrown
      @myrandabrown Год назад

      Are you using an OA? The chemical reaction in OA causes the iron in them to rust and you could be tasting that.

    • @marilynweber7957
      @marilynweber7957 Год назад +1

      when i used tray liners i think it made them edible for the first time. only avocado does this to me
