It's easier to mix your milk and yogurt together and then add the cereal to the bowl and then put your mixture on the trays. I actually put mine in rectangular bar shaped molds, freeze them, and then remove them from the molds and place on the trays, then freeze dry. It's easier to package and to eat that way.😊
While watching this video I said to my husband "I knew there was a reason I liked Pam... She loves Lucky Charms too." He was quite amused. A couple of years ago I started mixing my own using Cheerios and dehydrated marshmallows. Yummy!!!
This was hilarious, love you two, your sense of humor is great, Jim may have fell over laughing, and so did I. You two are so cute. I appreciate that you try these things that are so different than the healthy stuff😂
For my grandkids’ soccer tournaments we do oat cereal, whole milk, peanut butter powder and sliced bananas. Mix it together first and then spread on the sheets. The kids love it!
Darcy on purposeful pantry dehydrates marshmallows all the time and they say they're really fun and good. I haven't tried them since we don't eat sugar or many carbs, but i bet they'd be great❤
Fun idea! Could the same concept be taken, but do it with plain/greek yogurt and fruit, like mango pieces or berries and perhaps some granola, possibly using some honey as sweetner where needed?
Oh,no! Leftover cereal! 😮 Jim sounds so disappointed!😂 Look up a recipe for "Bottom of the Box Cookies". It's a basic chocolate chip 🍪 cookie recipe that uses the cereal (crumbs and all) instead of the chips. My sister used to make them when her boys decided that their favorite cereal no longer was and she got tired of wasting it. Not sure if she made it up or if she found it somewhere.
What a great idea!!! We are going on an RV trip in a couple of weeks to the mountains and we will have some whacky cereal with us. Thank you so much, have a great day!! 👍🏽💖😀🙏🏽
I'm glad that the marshmallows survived. I wondered how freeze dried food would react to being freeze dried. Glad they turned out. They look (and sound) great!
This got me thinking......what if I put corn chips and salsa and other ingredients and freeze dried those into healthy lunchtime snacks? I realise you were doing 'breakfast' but my mind wandered off to other applications :) xxx
I just had to try this. I mixed up blueberries, greek yogurt, almonds and cinnamon crunch with just enough milk to make it wet. I freeze dried it and it turned out great. I then tried rehydrating it with a little milk and it worked well. You have to eat it rather quickly to keep the crunch. Not sure if it would work this way on the trail, but for a fun breakfast at home, it was great.
How fun. Like you and Jim I generally don’t buy cold cereals but when I do it’s usually Wheaties, Shredded Wheat or Cheerios. But I have to confess Lucky Charms were a favorite when I was younger. Loved those little marshmallows.
Pam: Next time you may want to use either plain or vanilla yogurt so that it does not change the taste of the cereal. I am glad to see you doing something fun, I am sure your grandkids will get a kick out of this mixture. Your and Jim's videos are just so much fun to watch.
LOLOLOLOL It's such a joy to watch you have all this fun! As you already stated, Whacky snacks are a nice change once in awhile. I know that you are eating mindfully, which makes these treats all the more fun. 36 hrs, the time will go by anyway, so why not be whimsical? ChiefTuckabuckaway loved it that you had to cleanse your palate. Well, I did, too, but he said it outloud first. Thank you for sharing and for the laughter 😃.
Oh how fun! These will be a great treat! And yes all cereal is so expensive. My favorite is Lucky Charms. I would always wait for sales and use coupons for "special " cereals when my kids were little. Otherwise it was the store brand cherrios!
How fun! I dehydrated mini white marshmallows and they turned out fantastic! Then I discovered multi colored ones, and they are prettier to use. Will be used in making up some snacks with dried fruits, granola, chocolate or butterscotch chips for our camping trips. Thanks for the great videos, love every one of them!
Just something you can do with the extra - Fruit Loops taste great on ice cream for a treat! We lived not far from the Kelloggs factory in Michigan when I was young as we used to go for school trips or family day trips for a factory tour back in the day - they don't do them anymore. At the end of the tour you would get a treat and for a while it was Fruit Loops on Vanilla ice cream. It became a family favorite and my kids who are all grown still do it with their kids. :) I imagine the others would also all taste great on ice cream.
I made these but made them in my square individual molds and they were awesome. Being small squares made them easy to handle. Took to the beach with the family. They loved them. I used almond milk.
Goodness, you reminded me of how long it's been since I've had cold cereal. It's got to be somewhere around 10 years. My husband will still eat some occasionally if he sees a good deal.
I would try tossing the cereal with the yoghurt mixture in a bowl instead of pouring over. You could probably make the yoghurt mixture thicker that way too as it would be more evenly distributed from mixing.
I’ve tried these with Honey Nut Cheerios and vanilla yogurt. They turned to dust when you bit into them. My grands did not like them because of that 😕 A tip. Mix it all together than put on trays. I used tray dividers to make them into bars.
Maybe they would stick together better if you moisten them in a bowl so everybody could be coated and then spread in your pans.Same bowl used over🤷🏼♂️

I WAS THINKING THE SAME.
While watching this video I said to my husband "I knew there was a reason I liked Pam... She loves Lucky Charms too." He was quite amused. A couple of years ago I started mixing my own using Cheerios and dehydrated marshmallows. Yummy!!!
Fun video. I loved that Pam cracked you up, Jim! 😂
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would love to try this with granola instead of cereal. It would be an interesting type of granola bar.
I hit the floor when you cleansed your palate. 🤣🤣 Finally, an end product that justifies the cost of a freeze dryer. Bring on the Cap'n Crunch!
LOL! thanks.
I was thinking the same thing lol. My grandkids would love these.

Are you baking this? Or freeze drying? If baking what temp and how long? Sounds good.
@@susanm9078 freeze drying
The small crumble type pieces could easily be used as a topping for yogurt or ice-cream.
Darcy on purposeful pantry dehydrates marshmallows all the time and they say they're really fun and good. I haven't tried them since we don't eat sugar or many carbs, but i bet they'd be great❤
Loved that you did something fun I have learned so much watching you and fun things are nice sometimes

I use chocolate milk, vanilla yogurt, and a few mini marshmallows with the golden grahams.

Interesting idea. You will have to try that and let us know how it works!
I have watched your video many times, everything here is very good, I feel it, wish you well.❤❤❤
Clever. Fun.
Lol. Pam needing to cleanse her pallet. 😂
LOL! Thanks.
Such a great idea!! i love cereal, so my mind is going crazy on all the different cereal bars to make! Thank you Pam & Jim!! Awesome idea!!❤
You are welcome.
Loved your remark clean my palate and loved your husbands reactions

LOL! Thank you!
If you do do it again, you can mix the cereal and milk mix in a separate bowl then put it on the pan
That might certainly work. Thjanks.
I wish we had 1 but I would do that cereal lol. But I'm glad it worked, cool idea
You two are so fun!
Thanks! We do have a good time together!
Great idea, I’m thinking granola fruit and yogurt. Yummy
Great video ⚘️
Oh how fun! These will be a great treat! And yes all cereal is so expensive. My favorite is Lucky Charms. I would always wait for sales and use coupons for "special " cereals when my kids were little. Otherwise it was the store brand cherrios!
I forgot about coupons--it has been years since I have used them. Great idea! Thanks.

How interesting! thanks for sharing.
I remember the plant tour! They also gave our 6 pak of a variety of cereals. It was fun to see cornflakes made.
I will try this one, probably adding more fruit, because I will use a less sugary cereal. I am thinking honey bunch of oats and adding strawberries.
That sounds fantastic!
I made these but made them in my square individual molds and they were awesome. Being small squares made them easy to handle. Took to the beach with the family. They loved them. I used almond milk.

I think it will be another 20 years (if I live that long!) before I eat them again!
What a fun video. I'd live to try these.
LOL. Glad you liked it.
Such a fun video❤
Thanks.
How fun eh…..wheni was a kid I used to love alpha bits. They would be delish too. Great fun video…Pam and Jim 🌷🇨🇦
Fun!
Agree!
Bet they’re gonna be yum😊
I think so!
Those look great and sweet and yummy. I had a thought that maybe you could use a keifer instead of the milk and yogurt. Love your videos.
I'm thinking golden grahams, vanilla yogurt, and mini chocolate chips. Something like s'mores.
This is very interesting
It was fun. Probably won't do it again, but I did learn a few things.
This diabetic old lady is somehow craving "me Lucky Charms." 🍀 Ugh, I better not go there 😂
I would try tossing the cereal with the yoghurt mixture in a bowl instead of pouring over. You could probably make the yoghurt mixture thicker that way too as it would be more evenly distributed from mixing.
They do look very pretty in the jars!
Thanks.
If I could get my freeze dryer working I’ll try these!!!!!!!!! And yes I’m all in with the lucky charms and golden gray as ms!
Love it!
I didn’t think you could still get Golden Grahams. One of my favorites. Fruit Loops/ couldn’t do anything that would make me like them !😮
LOL!
Wish I could afford a freeze dryer.
I saved up for 5 years to finally get mine. It was worth it.
i did some chocolate graham cereal with applesauce. it was really good.
That sounds great!
I’ve tried these with Honey Nut Cheerios and vanilla yogurt. They turned to dust when you bit into them. My grands did not like them because of that 😕
A tip. Mix it all together than put on trays. I used tray dividers to make them into bars.
Thanks for sharing!!
Does anyone know, are the probiotics in the yogurt killed or preserved in the freezedrying process,
What is your metal steel scoop you used..what is that called..I liked it.
You can find it here in our Amazon store: roseredhomestead.com/amazon-trail-grazers
Im assuming the yogurt is sort if rhe "glue" fornthese bars. So if i dont like yogurt, probably couldnt make these with just milk?
I think i might add protein powder as well!!🤔🤔🤔🤔
Great idea.
Maybe they would stick together better if you moisten them in a bowl so everybody could be coated and then spread in your pans.Same bowl used over🤷🏼♂️
That might work!
Would that work in a dehydrator?
It is not recommended to do dairy like milk or yogurt in a dehydrator.
The issue with these cereals is not just the sugar, but the artificial coloring. That is one of the reasons why they are banned in many countries
The jars look great, but all that sugar not for us. Thanks for the experimenting for us.
You’re welcome 😊 Not for us either. Just wanted to try it!
I would prefer steel cut oats than sugary cereal
Me too!
Mix it with fruit
