Thanks ME for buying that ammo and posting this video
😂😂 thank YOU for acknowledging ME!!
@@RisenCitizen I've seen those new Rug Gen IIs from $529-650.00. Big spread. May I ask what yours was priced?
This one was priced around $580. So, smack dab in the middle of that range :/.

You're my favorite ammo sponsor for sure!
And a bow to you, my good sir 🙏.
My Ruger American Predator (Gen2) has proven amazingly accurate with factory ammo. I worked up some hand loads with Hornady's 53 Gr VMX, but have not had a chance to try them. Sometimes, you're hard pressed to beat the accuracy on factory rounds these days.
I've definitely shot some factory ammo that blew my mind with how accurate it was. I prefer to handload, but it can be a lot of work to do videos like this. Sure is hard to beat those vmax bullets for varmints, though.
Just wanted to give you a quick tip on all copper bullets. When shooting gilding metal bullets. It is imperative that you clean your barrel to bare metal everytime you shoot all copper, and then shoot a single fouling shot with the barnes. After you will see much better results with all copper bullets.
Thank you for the tip!
First time ive came acrossed your videos. Went through your page and i dont see a single video im not excited to watch. Great content so far, and love the vibes 👍
Thank you very much! That encouragement genuinely goes a long way!
Right now I’m between this rifle and the ranch… only reason I’m considering the ranch is that it can take both 556 and 223… great video! Thanks for sharing!
I think a lot of people are in the same boat as you. Thank you for the feedback!
I ended up choosing the ranch for that very reason. Gives me the option to use both calibers
Never heard of Rifle Kuhl before this video appreciate that.
as for the talk about ammo around the 16.5 minute mark, reminds me of a quote:
"In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is."
Well spoken!
Really enjoyed your Video Matt! Look forward to seeing more!
Thank you very much!
In my experience, it’s always best to test any mono metal(all copper) bullets out of a clean barrel that’s free of any other fouling. Sometimes they shoot crappy when fired through a barrel fouled with different types of bullets. Best to test those first!
That seems to be the consensus from many folks. I will have to keep that in mind going forward. Thank you!
I just picked up the same rifle last week only ran about 35 rounds threw it different ammo. I am very satisfied with it can’t wait to go to range again. Like you have to buy some more ammo first.
Pretty sure it’s a 1/8 twist.
That is correct. I will probably start handloading for it now that I have thrown some factory ammo through it, but it certainly shows some promise!
Ammo sponsor is me is the best statement of the day so far. Maybe someone will see this and send some donations. My vote is for the heavier bullets available from 68grains and up
Thank you very much! I'll keep that in mind 👍.
Mine loves the 60 grain a max. Doesn't group the heavier bullets at all. Looks like I should try the 53 grain a max also. Thanks for the video
I'll have to give the 60g bullet a shot. The 53g vmax was pretty hard to ignore for me.
Hands down, best ammo review on the Tube for the Ruger American Predator Gen II chambered in 223. Only thing you need is a better range with a full 100 yard. I did have a question. It appeared those last loads you shot from the Barnes were actually 5.56 not .223. Is your American chambered for the 5.56? I could only get mine in 223. I was not aware they made a 5.56.
My only petty suggestion would be you might edit chapters into the video and display the box so, people could jump past or to the ammo they are interested in. But as far as information, this video is outstanding ... and you should be sponsored. You're better than most on the net. Appreciate the info.
This is one of the best comments I believe I've ever seen on this channel. I really appreciate the words of kindness, and I am also grateful for the advice/info.
You are correct, though, regarding the ammo. One of the Barnes loads was a 5.56 loading. The rifle is chambered for 223, not 5.56. That was my mistake, and I'm glad you pointed that out.
Thank you very much for leaving this comment. It goes a long way.
I understand there is not a .556 Gen 2 Predator, only .223. (only Ranch & STD models are .556)
Barrel 1:8.
I know Hornady A-tip are supposed to be for 1:7 barrels, but would love to see how this rifle handles those 90gr loads.
Can you do Winchester 193’s?
Good video overall. Placing the ammo types on the video would be excellent just to see X or Y part of the review.
I look forward to seeing more content with this rifle.
I wouldn’t mind seeing some gold dots, 55, 62/64, and 75 grainers. Seeing how I have a shit ton of them. Hell maybe some cheap Tula/wolf 55 grainers. Good video
I'll have to see if I can get my hands on some to test. Thank you for the suggestion!
Matt, try the Barnes after cleaning the gun. Some are experiencing what you have with unimpressive groups only to have much better luck with a clean barrel. I found the same thing shooting Hornady 143 ELD X before shooting some 130 CX in 6.5 caliber. Next time out, clean barrel and shot the copper first and had much better results.
I will have to give that a try next time, thank you for the input!
I think you can and the rifle can do better. Being totally comfortable shooting from a good position makes all the difference.
For sure. There is always room for improvement!
Pretty sure its 1:8, twist, i want this gun, keep talking myself out of buying it
You're correct. I had to look it up after I filmed the video 😂. I don't know if it will suit your needs or not, but hopefully, this video helps :).
Next paycheck buy a higher end optic with more magnification. Nice test thanks.
I have better scopes. I wanted to keep this rifle reasonable.
@@RisenCitizen Gotcha, Thats a great rifle, especially for the $$. I would like to see how accurate their 7mmPRC will be. Keep up the good videos
@@jamesskinner762 thank you! It seems to want to shoot! I'd be curious to see as well!
What's the point of a fluted barrel? Does it cool off faster? Does it take longer to heat up? It looks pretty cool, anyway. Beginner question, I'm new to the scene only a few months ago.
Aesthetics, weight reduction, and it should theoretically cool off faster (I don't know if it really does).
Build a solid table
I really need to. I'm just lazy.
Great video, I'm considering a 5.56 bolt gun for shtf and the ar breaks down. Got to much ammo for it I guess. And is that an ar mag? Also how can Ruger chamber that in 223 and not 5.56 "cmon man"
There you go! It will make that ammo last a lot longer, too, lol. It's an AR15 pmag. They have their ranch rifle chambered in 5.56, but I actually prefer the 223 chambering. That was a big part of the reason I bought it :).
I would recommend the ruger ranch 5.56. The ranch has a 16" barrel and uses AR mags. 30rd mags are a bit goofy on it, but 10s and 20s don't hit the ground when shooting prone. My largest group was steel cased wolf 55gr at 2.81" five 5 shot groups averaged 2.68" at 100yds
What is the power on your scope? Very nice shooten!
Thank you! It's a 3-12 Athlon.
leaving your ammo in the hot sun can cause higher pressures, bad accuracy
Very true.
SAME HOLE! It will take a 30 rd. Then clean it thoroughly and then it will run good!
I like running the shorter mags for shooting prone, but you are correct!
can u take the muzzle brake?
It can be removed if that's what you're asking.
Will this rifle single feed from an open bolt?
No. The bolt catches on the follower of the magazine. I think different magazines will resolve that, but the pmag won't allow the bolt to go forward on an empty magazine.
Try fiocci 50 and 55 grain
Their vmax loads?
Try an air rifle at 80 yds
Or at 100 yds
I don't have any air rifles and honestly don't have much interest in them. I will leave that area of expertise to someone smarter than me.
