I used Wise (formerly Transferwise) and had no issues when purchasing a home in the Algarve.
Same here, moved more than 100k through wise
I absolutely love this channel! I’ve learned so much from the videos, and the content is always insightful and valuable. Their email list is also fantastic-well worth subscribing to for even more great insights. Thanks, guys!
Thanks SM, you're a star ⭐
Great stuff as usual guys. The main currency transfer I have needed for years now is UK£ to euros, like most expats here, transferring your UK government or State pension into your account here in Portugal.
For years now I have been taking advantage of a system implemented by Millennium bcp, whereby they set your Portuguese account up with an account in the UK, with Nat West I think. Then when you want to transfer every month, you transfer £ to £ from your UK bank (mine is Halifax) into the "Nat West" account, and hey presto, the converted euros are in your Portuguese Millennium account in a couple of days. The rates are very close to actual conversion rates. Just my two cents.
So helpful! I had no idea this existed. The last time we went to Portugal, we lost quite a bit of $$ buying our euros through our bank. Thanks again, keep the info coming!
You're welcome! Super glad we could help.
Thank you.A very helpful video
I'm happy it helped! ⭐
This video is so important buying a house as you need to know this when you have to pay the 10% deposit, i Lost 5k going through my current bank when i transferred 250K, will use Currencies Direct for the final payments and going forward! THANKS GUYS
Cheers John 👍
Thank you, Nick and Nick, for this video. As I watched your video, I’d go online and review the differences between Currencies Direct and other money transfer services (like Wise). I see that Currencies Direct is GREAT, especially for LARGE MONEY TRANSFERS, such as when you’ve sold your home in USA and want to transfer the funds from that sale to Portugal to purchase a home there. I went online and created an account on Currencies Direct (using the link in your video’s description). Thank you.🙏🏼
Thank you so much Jay. I hope you manage to save a lot.
