== About Us ==
We’re Matt & Nat, a part-time, non-remote travel couple based out of Nashville, TN. In 2021 we visited all 50 US states & documented our entire journey on our blog & here on RUclips! After spending a full year focused on such a defined goal, 2022 left us feeling a little lost & wondering "What's next?". We continued traveling & creating vlogs but always with the "What's next?" question lingering. During one of our trips, we came across the book “1,000 Places to See Before You Die” & were immediately drawn in by it & knew that it had to be a part of our adventures. So, in January 2023 we officially launched our “1,000 Places To See Before You Die” series where we’ve set out to see as many of the “1,000 Places To See Before You Die”… before we die!
We hope you’ll join us on the adventure & find some adventures of your own along the way! And remember... It’s better to see something once (even if only for a moment) than to hear about it a thousand times.

As a Brazilian, I think the Portuguese food is one of the most underrated things ever.
Once you try Francesinha, Bolinho de Bacalhau and Pasteis de Nata, you cannot go back.
You guys legit need like a Netflix or Hulu series. Your editing skills are on point!
Aww… You are so sweet! Thank you so much!🥰🥰
💙💙
When I was in Portugal, the people are so nice - nicer than pretty much anywhere I've ever traveled! Love reliving all these foods with this video.
So true!!! We loved everything about Portugal! We can’t wait to go back! 🥰 Thanks for watching & for taking the time to write a comment!
@@AdventuresofMattandNat Same here.
We visited Portugal in 2022 Oct, was insanely beautiful, not crowded and the weather so nice.
From Porto down to Lisbon and many cities in between. Bathala Monastery, Aveiro, Coimbra, Obidos ... LOVED it
Thanks for those nice words about Portugal. ❤
For future reference the best way to get to Ponto Final is a ferry from Cais de Sodre and then walk for about 15 minutes along the shoreline.
Lisbon looks lovely. All the food looked wonderful but the last place with the seafood looked Delish!!
Oh my gosh it was like being in a movie! That last place was gorgeous! We can’t wait to go back! Thanks for watching! 🥰💗
Being Portuguese I love Lisbon and all the great food they have to offer!! Hope u guys had an amazing time !!awesome video❤
Awww love that so much! Thanks our day to hear! Thanks so much for watching & for your kind comment! Made our day! 🥰
@@AdventuresofMattandNat u very welcome!!🥰
Now I’m living in Boston and loved the video that u guys made about Boston as well !!
Portugal such a beautiful place. The food looks amazing. Another amazing vlog as always. Thank you both for doing what you do!🙏👍🧄🍷🥖
It really is!! We fell in love with Portugal!!! 💗🥰 still working on that Portuguese though 🤣🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤪 Thanks so much for watching friends! We appreciate you more than you know! God Bless you & your fam! 💗
Portugal it's special, the sites to visit, the food and the PEOPLE, Portuguese people are so welcoming and nice.
The entire country it's so welcoming, you find a table at every corner, the food it's so good, natural, tasty
Just a sugestion guys...to Ponto Final, get the ferry on Cais do Sodré in dowtown Lisboa (like 15 mins boat ride, no traffic and much less expensive than an Uber ride) and you'll be 5 mins walk away from the restaurant.
We went to Portugal and loved it!
Be aware, grilled octopus is going to be though. Grilled squid or cuttlefish is also kind of though and chewy. You have to add olive oil to the cod, so it won't be as dry.
You guys are so much fun ❤!
I learned so much just through this food tour with y’all! So fun and helpful!! Love y’all! 💕
Love this episode! So many wonderfully-described dishes that my mouth was watering. One might ask why watching people eat is such fun. We get to live vicariously, that's why...and not gain any weight. Totally a thumbs up outing.
The Portuguese people are so terrific. I grew up in an area of California which had a large Portuguese-American population...salt of the earth, family-oriented, religious and kind.
Y'all. So hungry now! Lisbon is one of our favorite cities ever and this video is SO comprehensive. But watching on a Monday morning before I had breakfast was a terrible, terrible idea.
🤣🤣We LOVED Lisbon! Out only complaint is that our visit was too short! Lol… Can’t wait to go back and see more of the country! Aww… Thanks so much y’all!!🥰🥰 That means more than you know! Thanks so much for watching!
wow! amazing video.. great job, with the writing and story line. everything was smooth to listen to and watch. alot of though went into this video
Hey Matt and Nat! Found your vid while researching for my upcoming Lisbon trip and have to say you guys have the best, most fun guide for Lisbon foody stuff I've seen. A proper authentic dive into actually going to all the places and reactions to the food and drinks. Love how you both were genuinely like "not sure how this is gonna, ... oh my god, that was amazing"! My itinerary has changed thanks to your post, thanks ♥
Love Lisbon: the food, the people, the food. Highly recommend. Great video!
I have to say, I think I like the night time view better at the restaurant, than I did the sunset. You two make me so happy watching you guys travel & share with us. Can't wait to see your next adventure.
So happy you made to Portugal. Best video thus far.❤❤❤
We love Portugal so much!! Thanks for watching & for your kind comment! Makes our day! 🥰
Thanks for the amazing food tour!
Aww thanks so much for watching!!! 🥰💗
Beautiful video just like you two!! ❤ Smoked sardines are our favorites!!!! Loved everything!!! Thanks for the memories 🎉🎉❤
Awww thank you soooo much! 🥰💗 we appreciate you watching & your kind comment more than you know! 💗💗💗
love watching yall. You all have the best travel videos on RUclips👍.
wow the food the scenery amazing!
Thanks for watching!
Food tours are the best. The pastel de nata looks heavenly!
Right?? And yes… They were amazing!!🤤🤤 Thanks for watching!
The bread of "Sol e Pesca" it's dry, because it is not bread! :) It's quite similar, but it's something called "broa", in portuguese! 😉
Ohhh! That makes sense! Thanks for the info! Just looked it up now that I know it’s called “broa”… Apparently it’s a Portuguese corn and rye bread often served with soups! Learn something new every day! Lol… Thanks!😊
Such a great video guys! Notes skip the cherry and get theChocolate cup!! You left me wanting more …and hungry lol. Congratulations on 50k too ❤❤❤
I really enjoyed watching your video... I loved watching it... congratulations
wow!...I really liked the video. congratulations ❤
Glad you liked it!! 🥰 Thanks for watching!
Another awesome vlog guys 😁
Thank you!!🥰🥰
Loved this vlog. I want to go to Lisbon now too ! All those foods and drinks, I know I’d enjoy ! 😊
Thank you! We love Lisbon! Such a beautiful and delicious city!
You guys are super cute! I’m happy I found you and subscribed. This video helped me relive the trip I took to Lisbon a few months ago. I started every day with pastel de nata. I was so happy to see you added the cinnamon and powdered sugar because so many videos show people eating it plain. Nat inspired me to try porto wine on my next visit. I’m not into wine but she really seemed to enjoy it. I brought home several tins of canned fish that I bought from a local grocery so I got a great deal. My next trip to Lisbon is next February and I can’t wait! Also, I didn’t like the cherry 🍒 either 🤪
Love the vibe. Hope you enjoyed Lisbon and return soon!
We LOVED Lisbon! Definitely hope to return! Thanks for watching!😊
Loved your video.
You two are too funny.
Beautifully done.
Awww thanks so much!! 🥰💗 We appreciate you watching & for taking time out to write us a kind comment! Means more than you know!
Love you both….Bloopers are too much😂. You’ll keeping it real. Great video!
Hahaha… Aw, thanks so much!!🥰🥰
Great Vlog! Would love to see a video where you go through the book and mark off the places you’ve been of the 1000 places.
The food looks amazing!!
It was!!!! Made me hungry & thirsty while editing this Vlog! 🤣😜🍷🐙
What a trip and video. I love Chorizo ❤
Thanks so much for watching!🥰
Morning Matt and Nat happy Monday and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter
What a great video😊! 17:54
Thanks so much!🥰
We loved ponto final! We used their ferry system (very affordable round trip) and it was a short walk from the ferry port!
I have to agree with Nat about a good burger….sometimes you just need it! ❤
Right?? Glad I’m not alone! Lol
Lisbon Portugal is one of my favorite places I've ever traveled. But I wasn't blown away by the food.
Then you lack any sense of taste.
Just found your guides. Absolutely fabulous. Just watched your Lisbon videos and have booked 10 days in June 2024. Not watched videos that are better edited or more educational. Many may thanksf4om a middle aged English man
Awsome food descriptions, detail of ingredients and taste notes. Stanley Tucci should watch your RUclips segments on food😊
You guys are the best! When are you guys gonna do knoxville ?!?!
i am in love with those cutttte couple 😍💕just look at nat eyes and matt smile after that wine feast ❤
Awww thanks so much! We have a lot of fun together! 🥰💗
1 of my favorite cities. Pastel de Natas are incredible
Right?? We LOVED both Lisbon and Pastel de Nata!😍🤤 Thanks for watching!
Hi! The best way to go to "Ponto final" is to catch the ferry to Cacilhas from Cais do sodré... Then just ten minutes walking by the river! Beautiful view!
We unfortunately learned about the ferry AFTER our visit!😭 Lol… Next time! Thanks so much for watching! 😊
very entertaining!!!
Awww thanks so much for watching! 🥰
Love you both - beautiful people. How do you know where to go, was it self help or did you have a tour guide. Love seeing your beautiful smiles. That is what the world needs
Ugh, looks like a delicious trip! I need a vacation to eat Lisbon food, apparently!
Yes!!! You absolutely do!! It did not disappoint!!! Highly recommend it & it was super affordable which was even better! Thanks so much for watching! 🥰
Wow!!! I’m from Cape Verde 🇨🇻 I live in USA 🇺🇸, brother I went to Lisbon couple years ago and I love it great food next time order Bacalhau cod fish they have a thousand variety grill enjoy your trip
Hi. Just a few corrections. The name bica originates from the way the coffee flows, falling from the espresso machine to the cup on the tray,[2] an analogy with a water spring or fountain, both can also be called bica in Portuguese. A Prego is made with beef and the Bifana, is Pork. Glad you enjoyed Lisbon.
Hey Raymond! Thanks for watching! There are definitely different stories to how the term “BICA” came about, but the most popular seems to be that A Brasileira do Chiado was the birthplace of the term “bica” (a Lisbon word for a shot of espresso) which according to one of several versions of the story, is an abbreviation of “drink this with sugar” (“beba isto com açúcar”)… Regardless of which story is true, it’s delicious! Lol… And for the Prego & Bifana sandwiches… correct! As we stated at 5:43 in the video… The Bifana is made with pork and the Prego is made with beef! Thanks so much for watching!😊
Awesome video guys! When are y’all gonna do Knoxville ?!
Hi! Just stumbled on your video and loved it. Just a side-note about the Porto Wine, you're supposed to drink it as a liquor, about the amount (a bit more maybe) of the Ginginha and other liquors.
It's not like all the other wine types, where you can have a full glass, or two (or even a bottle).
But we have a LOTT of great wines, even the cheap ones are very good!
Loved your kindness and effort to know the culture/history behind every Food you tried! Got another SUB. ;)
I love you guys💛
Awww we LOVE you!!! Thanks for watching & for being here! We appreciate you more than you know! 💗
Hey fellow Nashville friends!
This makes me want to come back to Lisbon! We clearly didn't try enough of the food while we were there! Looks like an amazing time. Also, we quite enjoyed mead as well, only thing is it for some reason didn't agree with our stomachs...maybe the fermentation process? haha
Right?! We want to go back & eat & explore more! Oh really?!? That’s interesting, I didn’t think about that. Lol 😂🤷🏼♀️ thanks so much for watching & for sharing! 🥰
You guys r, great couple
Aww... Thanks so much! And thanks for watching! 🥰
you can take a boat from Cais do Sodré to go to the Ponto Final restaurant. It's cheap and fast public transport. Try it next time!
Omg looks amazing!! We are going end of September!
Love your videos. Natalie, off topic… what hair tools do you use internationally, or do you take an adapter? Your hair is beautiful
Oh my gosh!! So excited for you! We hope you have so much fun!! Oh my gosh you are the sweetest!!! So I use this when we travel amzn.to/44KViLz I do use a travel adapter for it but I just love that it’s a two in 1 tool & that it’s super small! Hope that helps & thanks for watching 🥰💗
The ginjinha you should have tried it with a small chocolate cup. Delicious
For Ponto Final, it's quicker to get an 8 minute ferry from Cais de Sodré Lisbon to Cacilhas, and walk along the riverside.
You should try Porto, Azores, Madeira, Braga and Algarve obviously 😊😊 we have much more to offer
We would LOVE to visit all of those! We loved our short visit and can’t wait to come back and see more of Portugal!😍 Thanks for watching!
Oi! No mention of Alentejo? Epic overlook fail on your part!
Day drinking in Portugal 🇵🇹 that’s my kind of vacay 😂
🤣🤣
Yes that’s right, it’s honey mead and a drink made in the Middle Ages. Herbal flowers would be infused with water, then adding honey, yeast. It’s quite potent as you likely found out. Great to hear that it’s being offered in the 21st Century
Oh that’s so interesting!! Thanks for sharing!!! It really was such a treat to try!! That restaurant was like stepping back into time! It was awesome! Lol
I am happy you guys liked it here in Portugal! I am from Porto, and i should say that you should try Francesinha, it is iconic here :D
I just had to look up what Francesinha was! It looks delicious! We really hope to visit Porto soon! We loved our short visit to Lisbon and can’t wait to visit again and see more of the country! Thanks so much for watching!😊 -Matt
Oh the francesinha! Together with a nice glass of fino. Cumprimentos de Almada.
@@carlossaraiva8213 tal e qual 🤤
excellent
Thanks for watching!😊
@@AdventuresofMattandNat my pleasure iwill watch on daily basis..come Pakistan there is so much lovely palaces to travel and would be good for the your RUclips channel
“My fish has a face” made me laugh out loud
🤣🤣🤣🤣
You got to go to Buccees??? OMG I've ALWAYS wanted to go there!!! Wowsers!
Lisbon? Been there, done that cause I used to live in Europe 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣 hahaha we get so many comments the opposite too! So funny! Both are cool in their own rights! Lol 😜 Thanks for watching!
Im with you, comfort food. However, the custard desert, yum, and I'll tske the Cherry Cordial in a chocolate ciated cup. 😊
Yea, the Pastel de Nata was SO good! 🤤 And I’d like to try the Ginjinha in a chocolate cup as well! Never got to on this trip. Thanks for watching!😊
I hope among the 1000 places to visit it also includes the city of Porto and the island of Madeira, both in Portugal.
@ 28:57 is that Gordon Ramsey?! Thank you for the video ❤
Haha I don’t think so but that would BE EPIC if it was him!! I would’ve freaked out!
I was hoping you tried the Ginja! When we were there in 2014, that place was hopping in the evening! We had fresh grilled sardines and potatoes for dinner. You guys should go back to Porto some time. They have all of the Port Wine Houses along the Douro River and you can do tastings at any of them. Plus, the gold standard of all food tours is Taste Porto. A walking food tour and history lesson in one. Do you guys have a Trader Joe’s near you? They usually have Vino Verde and Port there. And Lidl’s sells Pateis de Nata.😋😋😋
Ahhh love that you got to explore & eat such good food!! Oh my gosh we can’t wait to go back to Portugal & explore Porto!!! We wish we would’ve had time! Thank you for all the suggestions that all sounds amazing!!! Ohhh we do!! We’ll have to check those out! Thank you for letting us know! I wish we had a Lidl 😭cuz I could eat so many Pateis De Nata’s right now! Haha 😂 thanks so much for watching! 🥰
All the big supermarkets have them, but they are industrial, nothing like the ones made in pastry shops. There is another pastel, similar, but only produced in Belem, pastel de belem
Absolutely great vlog guys!!! I’m going in October with my friend. We actually have reservations at Ponto Final. We were going to take an Uber there and we still might but there is still a long walk after the Uber ride? I just wanna know so I’m prepared 😅
Hey Cynthia! Thanks so much for watching! So glad you enjoyed it!😊 If we had to do it over, we would take the ferry over to Ponto Final. From what we understand, it’s way faster and cheaper. If you check out our blog (www.adventuresofmattandnat.com/amp/lisbon-food-guide-10-must-try-portuguese-foods-drinks) you can find more info on the ferry under the “Pro Tip for visiting Ponto Final”.
Also… If you do decide to use a ride share to get around the city, Bolt tends to be more widely used in Lisbon and it is typically cheaper than Uber, so be sure to download that before you get there. But the public transportation is also great!
Hope that info helps and that y’all have an amazing time in Lisbon! It’s one of our favs! -Matt
@@AdventuresofMattandNat awesome thanks so much!!!! 😊😊
To go to Ponto Final you catch the ferryboat at Cais Do Sodré fluvial harbor and go to Cacilhas which is the fluvial harbor on the other side of the river. Once in Cacilhas you follow the pier gowards the west and walk about 10 to 15 minutes and you get there quite easily. Dont take a taxi/uber/bolt when you can get there as easily by much cheapper public transport and a bit of a walk.
❤❤❤❤
Ponto Final is in the city of Almada on the other side of the river Tejo from Lisboa. Almada is not Lisboa. The quickest way to get to Ponto Final from Lisboa is not by taxi over the bridge but by ferry across the river from Cais do Sodré to Cacilhas (the neighbourhood of Almada eith the fluvial harbor). You took the way longer route.
💗
Come and visit Philippines Mat & Nat ❤
I m from Portugal lisboa
I googled mead its fermented honey and water ..I bet it's really good
Ohhhh interesting!!!! It was good!! We’d have it again! Lol 😂
The cherry in the drink tasked like that because it's not really a cherry. It's a "ginja", therefore the name of the drink "ginjinha" (little ginja). It is also known as "sour cherry". What people usually call "cherry" is the sweet cherry. They come from different trees.
Ginginha is made from sour cherry, , maybe it could be considered bitter cherry, a species that exists around here, I don't know if in other places
Do you think you can bring back pastel de nata back to the US? Will custom allow it?
It's Liquor de Ginja and it is sour cherry liquor, NOT plain red sweet cherry. ❤❤❤ and I loved
We got it in Obidos
You have to visit Portugal properly, Porto and down to Lisbon and Faro, many cities in between. By train or by car.
I fell in love with Portugal, Portuguese people and the food.
Someone tricked you.
To get to Ponto Final you take the Ferry in Terreiro do Paço to Cacilhas and then just walk by the river until you get to Ponto Final. At evening it's way faster and there aren't any elevators involved.
I know you guys have been to Michigan, but if you like sweet wines, definitely check out wine country in Berrien county (southwest lower peninsula). We have a spectacular wine scene. I don't know if we can compete with Lisbon, but we're pretty good, and it's probably a little less expensive. :)
Ohhhh Thank you so much for your recommendation!! We’ll have to come & check it out!! Thanks so much for watching & for being a member! We appreciate you! 💗🥰
No, you cant compete with Portuguese wines and for at least one very good reason: we have a huge headstart as we have been making wine here since even before the romans arrived here in the 2nd century BC. As much as you guys think you are investing a lot in your wines, winemaking here is VERY SERIOUS BUSINESS. Like A LOT! Its both cultural, historical and a matter of national pride. We dont fuck around about winemaking.
You know that the founding fathers in the American independence was toasted with Madeira wine it's just like port wine
We did not know that! That’s awesome! Thanks for watching!
Those are a different kind of cherry kind of a wild bitter cherry
“It looked like he was sad when he died “😂😂😂😂🐟 💀
🤣🤣🤣🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Tap water is safe to drink there?
OMG - step up
Dudes, loved the video, but sorry to say you've only been to tourist traps, lisbon is not the reflection of our food but a compilation of it, if you want the real deal, you need to go out of lisbon and try the original dishes... next time if you can, go around our tiny country and enjoy original food
did you guys get a slight buzz after the wine tasting?
Actually we didn’t! It wasn’t that much wine in the tastings!
How do you make reservations at Porto Final?
We emailed them!!! You can either call or email, I believe their info is on their website & in their reviews on Google! But this is the email we used pontofinalrest@gmail.com 🤣😜 Hope it still works & you get a reservation & have the absolute best time!! 💗💗💗
Links to restaurants would be helpful oh well
Our blog has all of the info! www.adventuresofmattandnat.com/post/lisbon-food-guide-10-must-try-portuguese-foods-drinks
My city is so beautiful, but to eat the best food u must go to Porto
The best food is IN ALL OF PORTUGAL, not just in one place or another. Bairrismo is for idiots.
The place that you ate the sandwiches had a sign of cash only, did you use US dollars or did you have local money? did you find that to be the case at most places? will be in town for just a day and trying to make sure we are prepared.
Hey! Thanks so much for watching! We always carry a small amount of local currency since US dollars are not generally accepted outside the US. When in Europe, we recommend having 20-50€ in case you visit a cash only establishment (like O Trevo, the sandwich shop) and for tips and restrooms. Hope that helps!
In Portugal you ONLY USE THE EURO, that's our local currency. You want to pay in cash you have to exchange dollars for Euros or use an ATM to withdraw Euro bills with a bankcard with a chip and a PIN number. We are not some 3rd world banana republic who accepts dollars as an alternative currency, we are a developed WESTERN country that is part of the European Union and the Eurozone.
Im not a wine drinker either Nat
Lisbon pro tip: Don't take the bridge to Ponto Final, instead take the boat. Hop on the ferry at Cais do Sodré. No traffic or broken down elevators to ruin your reservation.
