Is this just for US residents travelling or would it work for Canadian travellers I wonder? We leave for Portugal in 2 weeks, Porto, Lisbon and the Algarve. Thank you for your videos, they are very well done!
Pasteis de Belem and pasteis de nata are different, similar but different. The ones from Belém have their own secret recipe (like coca cola ;)) they are only made in that pastry shop, they must be enjoyed inside if there is space, despite being large, you may have to wait. Eat with coffee or tea and add cinnamon and sugar, wonderful when warm, you can ask the waiter for the amount you want to take, you don't need to queue. Pastéis de nata, exist all over Portugal and begin to exist in many countries where the Portuguese live. In Lisbon, every year a competition is held to choose the pastry shop that makes the best pastel de nata.
@@MichaelCorleone562 Pasteis de nata should really be eaten as fresh as possible, but in case you do buy some as gifts, I would not keep them for more than two or three days - and you can place them in an air fryer or a microwave (although the microwave might soften them a bit), because they always taste better warm. I make my own, so I would always choose to have them fresh.
I had pasteis de Belem in that restaurant and I did not even finish one. I did not care for them. Pasteis de Nata in my hotel breakfast were better but still it's not something I would look for. I feel it's overhyped.
I absolutely LOVE Lisbon and its people. As soon as you touch down you feel peace overcome you. I can't describe it but it's magical. My favourite city in Europe by far.
3:58 one correction! CHÁ is the real name of the drink , TEA is the name of the Portuguese boats that send chá to England (and later to all the world), TEA means TRANSPORTE de ERVAS AROMÁTICAS or in English Transport of Aromatic Herbs, yes we are the responsible for the British start drinking it!
We stayed at an AirB&B in Alfama and every night we passed 4 or 5 Fado singers, some on the street, some in clubs. Lisbon quickly became one of my favorite cities
@bethanylawrence161 Alfama was by far my favorite area of the city. If you like narrow cobble streets and being in the oldest part of town, it's your best choice
Im from Portugal and noticed you liked the Pastéis de Nata wich is understandable😂 but there are other types/flavours of pastéis wich are really good and you would probably love perhaps even more than the pastéis de nata. There are Pastéis of curd(requeijão); carrot(cenoura); milk(leite); almond(amêndoa); bean(feijão); orange(laranja). These have a pastry that is really soft. There are also other types of similar cackes called queijada. The filling is similar to the sweet pastéis but are larger and shorter and the base is non crunchy, its more like a soft pastry. The queijadas have a filling similar to the pastel de Nata.
You guys did so much in 1 day! Impressive! I've been waiting for this video for a while and you didn't disappoint. Glad you liked my city. Keep up the good work!

Great vlog, great city. I was there about 7 years ago and did most of the things in the video- castle, Belem, Alfama, Fado etc. But I did everything in 2-3 days. Great job doing it all in one day. Hope to go back in the next few years.
I have to think of something new to say 😂 because if not it’s gonna be the same thing…YOU TWO ARE AWESOME!! No one does it better than Matt / Natalie 👍🙏✈️☕️🍮
A really excellent travel and gustatory adventure. Lisbon architecture is gorgeous (appealing red tile roofs are plentiful). The natural scenery is beautiful. The people seemed so genuine. I loved when many of them looked into the camera and waved or smiled. The boat ride was simply lovely...and the locals' singfest at the end made me tear up. Enjoyed it all. In December there are far fewer tourists, perhaps the best thing is at Christmas or New Year's Eve, to see the fireworks by the river. It can rain and be cold, there is no snow, we only have it in the north and in the mountains. Go to restaurants outside the central area, in the alleys, traditional neighborhoods, those terraces are tourist traps, expensive and common international food. If you have time, go to Cascais or Sintra, by train and see the palaces, especially in Sintra. There are museums with free admission on Sundays. and there are many, such as the Gulbenkian, Museum of Ancient Art, Museum of Coaches, Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Electricity, these in Belem. Wear comfortable shoes as it is tough to walk in the city and be careful on tram 28, pickpockets love it.
On the other side of the river, you can go up to the top of "Cristo Rei". You can also climb the "Padrão dos Descobrimentos" and there is a panoramic climb on the 25 Abril Bridge itself, see if it's working. Alternatively, you can cross to the other side by taking the train that crosses the bridge.

I was in Lisbon last September and we stayed in Alfama right next to that lift and it wasn’t working while we were there so had to walk up the steps continuously during our stay. The Castle and grounds are lovely… worth it for the view. Would definitely recommend Lisbon it’s a fab city.
Oh gosh that stinks! But I bet you got your steps in! 🤣 When we go back, we will definitely be doing the castle!! Thanks so much for watching & for your comment! 🥰💗

Hahaha gosh they were amazing!!! We only get to eat however many we want on trips when at home we intermittent fast, run & go to the gym! 🤣🙄 definitely not as fun or delicious as eating on vacation! Haha
Lovely video ! The food and drinks are the refreshments for a beautiful city. Definitely added to my bucket list ! Btw, a new Buc-ee’s will be coming to Ohio, just north of Dayton in Huber Heights. That will probably be before my trip to Portugal 😊
You eat tremoços like this: you put the whole tremoço in your mouth, and inside, using your teeth and tongue, separate the skin from the tremoço. It is a technique that can be learned quickly. Then you spit out the skin and eat the tremoço. Tremoço itself doesn't have much flavor but it's very cheap. It is usually offered when you order beer. One final note to Matt: you are a lucky man!
@@AdventuresofMattandNat I like your energy, so I subscribed. BTW: I am going to Lisbon in just around 2 weeks (13th April) and I will spend there 5 nights. That will include a trip to Sintra and Cascais.
Its called Casa Da India due to the long presence of Portugal in India since the 16th century where we even had colinies there, the best known being Goa.
Great Vlog!!! We loved it. I have a few questions 1. What airlines did you fly to get to Lisbon? 2. How do you handle currency meaning how do you get euros or local $’s there?
Hi Susan! Thanks so much for watching! We flew TAP Air from New York (JFK) to Lisbon. For currency, we always get $50-100 worth of local currency from our bank before we leave the US. That cash is mostly used for tips then we use our travel credit card (Chase Sapphire Reserve) for all other purchases. Hope that helps and answers your questions!😊
@@AdventuresofMattandNat thanks for the info!! Yes it helps so much!! How was TAP we are looking at using that to fly to Barcelona. We are taking a 9 day med cruise on NCL (not MSC LOL). Have been watching you videos and sending them to our group of travelers!! Are you doing a Rome review?
Nice video! Does anyone knows for a 2 days weekend trip, what should I get for the transportation ticket? 2x day pass? And where to buy if I’m coming from Lisbon airport?
You’re from Nashville, so have to ask, did you ever go to the House of Cards in Nashville ? Awesome magicians and restaurant. I must admit, my son is one of the regular professional magicians working there. 😊 Great video, will check out your other videos and blog. 👍🏼
Hi! Thanks so much for watching. You CAN walk to almost all of these locations, but you may not want to with kids. You'll likely want to catch the tram or taxi up the hill to Saint George's Castle and you'll definitely need to take the tram/taxi/tuk-tuk to Belém. Hope that helps!
Right now, the only place in the UK that we have filmed so far is Northern Ireland and those videos will be out later this fall! We don’t have any others planned yet, but I’m sure that will change! Thanks for watching!😊

It seems that the link was broken... So sorry! Thanks for bringing that to our attention! Try this one... tinyurl.com/jt5dkv3b
I've also corrected in the video description! Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching! We hope you have a wonderful time in Lisbon!
This was very helpful for planning our upcoming trip to Lisbon. Nat, I love your coral color dress. Who makes it?
Impressive! Three pastel de natas each. I've eaten my way through Lisbon, and sampling the slightly different pastel de natas. Three each - amazing! 🙂
Hahaha gosh they were amazing!!! We only get to eat however many we want on trips when at home we intermittent fast, run & go to the gym! 🤣🙄 definitely not as fun or delicious as eating on vacation! Haha
Great video which can help us explore Lisbon.. just a silly question..wanted to ask if what made and shade is your lipstick..its really pretty
We are going on the Ncl Prima in 3 weeks and this is going to be one of the ports we are going to.
God job guys! 5 Stars (from a Lisboa guy)😊
Aw, thanks so much! That means a lot coming from a Lisboa guy!😊 We appreciate you watching!
Going to be there in a week...and it looks and will probably feel like I haven't Left SF bay area. But looking forward to it.
We hope you have so much fun! Safe travels! Thanks for watching!😊
You packed a lot for 1 day !
That’s what we try to do… see, eat & do as much as we possibly can! 🤣🤷🏼♀️ haha We’re crazy! Haha
@@AdventuresofMattandNat I like your energy, so I subscribed. BTW: I am going to Lisbon in just around 2 weeks (13th April) and I will spend there 5 nights. That will include a trip to Sintra and Cascais.
Beautiful Video,you are amazing couple,obrigado
I love that you love books Nat📚!
Love your content!! Would you recommend Portugal or Florence/italy if you had to choose one for a trip?
My city,Lisboa!❤🇵🇹
Its called Casa Da India due to the long presence of Portugal in India since the 16th century where we even had colinies there, the best known being Goa.
Great Vlog!!! We loved it. I have a few questions
Between the 2 places for egg tart, which one you prefer?
You’re from Nashville, so have to ask, did you ever go to the House of Cards in Nashville ? Awesome magicians and restaurant. I must admit, my son is one of the regular professional magicians working there. 😊 Great video, will check out your other videos and blog. 👍🏼
Odd question, but in terms of cleanliness what would you rate Listen 😁.
Beautifully edited video btw. Some lovely shots.

Thank you!! 🥰 So glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah we went to Lisbon May 2022 and we absolutely loved the experience. And I guess it's a lot cheaper to travel there than in the US. Haha
Can we walk to all these locations ? if not what is the best way to tour the city we have kids thanks in advance
Your nails look edible, so beautiful ❤😍❤ You two are very cute!!
Awww thanks 🤣🥰 We appreciate you watching!! 💗
