I used to be unaware of the Trinity and imagined Christ as " springing forth from the Lord in history past". The Trinity has answered more questions than created them for me, as my knowledge of the Bible grows. To deny the Trinity is much more serious than most think it is.

I think what John doesn’t get, and Sam is making abundantly clear, that there are 100s of either direct quotes or direct references to the Old Testament in the New Testament as well as other writings like the Book of Enoch. The Apostles theology and understanding of who Christ is understanding the Old Testament as Christ concealed and their Holy Spirit writings as Christ revealed. The two go together.
