I think Sam and his position have evolved in faith since this interview, closer to the Orthodox position, thank God. Watching this debate, one can clearly see why the Orthodox claim that "sola scriptura" is the mother of all heresies. You see very smart people, reading the same text and getting very radical different positions. Reading the bible outside of the Churches understanding, can and many times will lead people to heresies

The Trinity is actually explained easily by science today. A single cell can divide many times yet each one is identical. Basic stuff really. If you believe God the father is almighty and is one with Jesus and the Holy spirit. Just think water can be liquid, solid and gas yet still retain its same essence and identical just in different forms.

I used to be a JW and became a born again Christian. I struggled for years with the trinity teaching. I realized that my salvation did not depend on understanding nor believing in the trinity .
I do now, because after years of studying my Bible I saw more and more that Jesus Christ is GOD .

In Scripture it is explicit that God alone is Creator, Savior, Judge and only God. Jesus Christ possesses every one of these titles in Scripture - and it is written in simple words. The root of the problem really is that some people do not want to believe that He is the Almighty God. They have hardened their heart to the truth.
If a king decides to work with his subjects that doesn’t mean his not still king, his just a king working in a lowered position. It’s quite easy to understand.

Omgoodness Sam these guys were gracious but they just did not get it. They kept using the words "two beings" to an Infinite being just like you said. An Infinite being who is not limited to time and space CAN share himself between three divine persons. We as humans do not know what an Infinite being is fully capable of as we are limited to time and space. I think these guys are projecting their creatureliness onto God and that is the problem. If flesh and blood can’t inherit the kingdom of God, but you agree that Jesus in his Flesh was incorruptible meaning there was no sin in his flesh, then it would stand to reason that Jesus was not referring to himself but to us who has corruptible flesh in the book of John.

There is a way to understand the Trinity rationally, at least most aspects of the Trinity, especially the oneness between the Father and Jesus. Take the example of a father and son. Suppose that if the father and son will not say or do anything regarding any issue, without discussing it between themselves and agreeing on what they must say and do, then they are functioning as one being even if they are two persons. Now expand this to three people doing the same thing and we have three persons functioning as one being. Between the heavenly Father , Son and the holy Spirit the level of unity ( oneness) is much greater than three earthly people. Their level of communication and agreement among themselves is millions of times stronger than the level of unity between three human people. This explains the oneness of God in three persons of the Trinity. The hierarchy can be explained by the same example of how an earthly father may have children who have the same capabilities and yet the father is the head of his household and has a higher rank because of which the children obey the father in all things. If an earthly family can show unity, though it is imperfect, the heavenly family of three persons in one God displays perfect unity.

Sam was very gracious with these 2. I heard them say that God the Father is one being and that the Son is a separate being. So 2 beings posits 2 gods this is heretical. Since scripture is the source of truth and over time the Holy Spirit has given the church a more clear understanding of the Triune God there is now no historical refuge for these heretics even if Tertullian had a similar not fully developed view of the Trinity.

@@Yuyup7334 only because your thinking of it in the finite.... at the very least the statement that Jesus is the same substance but a different person is NOT logically impossible. But I will grant it is difficult for us to wrap our minds around the concept because our limits.
Maybe an analogy (albeit not a perfect one) will help.
Consider a 2-D world, we will call it Flatlandia. The Flatlanders were created by a god who is outside of Flatlandia, in fact he goes by the name Cone. He lives in a 3D world but has been known to enter into Flatlandia on occasion because he loves his creation.
He reveals himself to Flatlanders throughout their history. In some parts of the revelation he looks like a Circle, in other parts he looks like Triangle and still on other parts he looks like a Square.
He is known for saying, "The Lord, The Lord Cone is one".
Over time debates brew among the Flatlanders some argue that those who say that Cone is 3 and 1 are confusing especially those that say Square (Cone) is of the same shape as as Triangle (Cone). Then they say Circle is also Cone. They retort, "that would make three shapes!"
But does it? Are said Flatlanders defining Cone by their limitations or by how he has revealed himself? In other words are they considering all of the data?
To the Flatlanders it would be confusing to perceive Cone as 3D because they simply don't have the mechanisms. In fact to say something is false cause it's confusing to you amounts to an argument from incredulity. Just because you can't perceive something doesn't mean its not true.
I should also point out the commenter didnt actually challenge my charge that his or her view results in polytheism, but just went on the offensive.
