- Hi all! Today I made a nice foil shelter. I spent the night in it. Despite the fact that it is winter outside, it was cozy and warm in the shelter thanks to the stove. Enjoy watching it!

I worked at Home Depot for 2 yrs and never once thought about building a house with shrink wrap. That's amazing!
This is amazing! I've done bushcraft for years and this is as simple as it gets for winter. Hard work but what a satisfying feeling when it's done. Toasty warm for sure! Thanks for the vids!

Leave out square shape, the woods and sticks, and the plastic, and just make a snow shelter. Works just as well and zero materials needed, zero waste produced. Greetings from Finland. Come here next winter and I will teach you how ;)
Ive lived in a snow cave and a molded snow dome, this is a much more comfortable shelter

I wouldn't advocate for using all that plastic (to a lesser extent the foil) on a temp shelter unless it is an emergency survival situation. In context of enjoying the great outdoors it seems like poor stewardship of the beauty around you...just as disrespectful of a choice as if you were throwing food wrappers on the ground . However I do wonder if plastic could be harvested from our oceans and used for insulation in regular home building?
I am not some crazy batshit old woman finding fault and nothing else. Your building skills are great and you show a lot of ingenuity. Your video is also very well done! I hope you really enjoy your time outside.
An alternative to saran wrap for this? Maybe some weatherproofing plastic. Yes still plastic but it would last longer and could potentially be dismantled when you are done with the shelter and use for something else.

Double shell build is genius. Best way to insulate is with air.

Bushcraft should be ecological and in harmony with nature:(
The shrink wrap can easily be replaced by standard plastic sheeting. A big roll of 10 x 10 squares can be broken down into very small rolls tied off with paracord. Instant shelter and in extreme cold makes an insulating liner that will save your toes.
Saves time and energy if you need to put it up quickly. Can be packed back up and reused if not badly torn. I keep a couple in my bag just in case, lighter and easier to carry then a tent.
This brings me back to the days we used to build forts near the house for fun. Thanks for sharing

I enjoy watching your videos that even when you don't say anything or provide captions, your construction of huts with wood, saran wrap and use of tin foil demonstrators how simple a living or camping quarters can help you stay warm, of course with the help of a stove, but you seem so prepared to face the elements, even by your use of mother nature. You'll never see a dislike for your videos and of course your pasta and other meals always look yummy.

Yes, very peaceful and nice background music. I’m 72 and could not do what he does but I learn from his cooking outdoors or in the cabins. He is very talented and precise. I enjoy the building of the fires and how he uses a place mat or table cloth. So fun

I love being out side , every one needs some me time good to get our reflect on the days that are gone and what you can do today
Bushcraft is a skillset. The bushcrafter does not have to go naked into the forest and try to survive. Doing this every week is an unrealistic fantasy. In my opinion, bushcraft skills make hiking more efficient and fun ... and don't forget, it's a PLEASURE!

I made a double insulated one out of polyweave greenhouse cover and a inner 4 MIL plastic insert with a cast iron stove inside. My plants and I both keep warm.
I've worked on construction projects and it's amazing how much heat s simple sheet of plastic can hold in. It cuts the wind and holds the heat. I've been on jobs where it was below freezing outside and guys inside were working in flannel shirts and hoodies. All you need is some plastic and a good propane salamander or small stove. For smaller spaces you'd be surprised how much heat is given off by a Coleman lantern.
Seeing him wrapping his shelter with that plastic reminds me of my days at walmart and putting stock on pallets

@@susanenglander9977 it's not saran wrap lol. This is stronger plastic. He was using a metal sleeve around the exit of his shelter. It should help protect his shelter.

The reason I say it's spooky is there's a video of post mortem pictures where dead people are propped up with eyes open in poses and their picture taken and the video uses this same movie. That video gave me nightmares.

I got cold watching this.
I remembered shoveling the trails behind my house today. My feet got soaking wet. It was sooo cold.
This made me feel like my feet were still frozen so I turned the heat up.
