Wow, that explains why my country (Antigua) has started mining and dredging sand and exporting it! It never made sense to me. I never knew that desert sand was unusable. I learn so much new stuff every day!
I live in the Godavari delta region of India we get sand from the river bed of Godavari in the past, it was dirt cheap and used as a filler to make the floor even now the demolition of old buildings is done carefully and and the sand is reused in the cement for the building and the the demolition waste as the filler showing the changing landscapes
You mentioned Florida losing its beaches. I’ve lived in Florida all of my life and can confirm this. Especially after hurricanes. They pull back tides which erodes the beaches and the strong winds as well. Usually after them the city has to pump in sand from about a quarter to half a mile out onto the beaches.

This man made an otherwise tasteless topic - sand - into such a graceful and entertaining video. There’s intelligence and knowledge in what he does - yes. But there’s also poetry, storytelling, visual captivation - overall, a work of art. What a lad.
I've seen over 10 videos from major RUclips channels covering this exact topic, over the past 3 years only. I thought it's become common knowledge by now.
Once sand has been rapidly depleted, the price will eventually reach a high that makes it cheaper to buy an alternative, I think this crisis will balance itself out eventually, but obviously poorer developing countries will suffer the most due to infrastructure costs going up.
@@ImTHECarlos98 Beaches in most tourist areas and developed nations are protected and maintained, I doubt they’d ever be used on a mass-depleting-scale.

There's a lotta sand wasted in the world. Those empty islands in Dubai, heaps of trashes around dumpsites, and old abandoned buildings. It would be a really big deal if we could recycle them for new material but the problem is a lot of companies would not be happy with it even if it could give a good effect to the environment.
I feel like you would make a great video about electric cars and their environmental impacts. The directly release no pollution, but indirectly do a lot of damage. The electricity they use is made by burning coal, which pollutes the environment (wind and solar power aren’t efficient enough yet so plants rely on coal mainly). Also, the worst part is lithium. They use lithium batteries which the mining and manufacturing of them is awful. Mining them causes toxic pollution and runoff water that poisons nearby areas. Much of this is in Developing countries that have little to no regulations, especially for those that will fill pockets of those with power. This hurts local populations. Additionally, the manufacturing process of lithium ore into batteries is inefficient and uses much energy and causes pollution So no, you aren’t being a great human by buying a tesla

Finally a sensible comment about the shit we’re in. I learnt something very interesting about the earths coral and what it’s function is for the ocean. The pretty colours and flower type foliages are just a byproduct of the plant. When the oceans become to acidic from excessive Carbon Dioxide the corals will die in order for the alkaline that they are made of can be released and combat the high acidity rates. wouldn't sand from the southwest U.S. be able to be used for building? Its a very hard sand, and requires pickaxing the ground before you can start building on it because of how well the sand is bonded together.
