Just saw blink in Houston Saturday and Travis went off for the entire set. Dude never let up for a second. Back in their heyday I didn't think much about it, but after finally seeing them live, he's the engine that drives the band.
As a 32-year-old who just purchased his first electronic drum kit, and recently getting into blink 182 for the first time ever - I absolutely love this man

There’s an album called the “mark tom and Travis show” it’s a live album. I used to run it day and night his parts were so different on all the non “signature fills” loved it! Heard him say that he’d do half the tour with the studio drums the other half like he’s talking here. I love this man. Great drummer no matter what style you’re into!

I’ll have to admit I was blessed in the Travis barker early 2000’s when he first got hooked up with OC drums, toured with which is probably one of my favourite kits ever, the yellow and black trim with black starts, amazing kit, amazing drummer, his name is Travis, my Name is Travis, we both play drums and conquer the world, ladies name your son Travis 😂
Blink 182 is one of those bands that doesnt sound that hard to play along to on the drums. Then you sit down and try playing through first date and your hands are cramped into hooks and you dont know what the hell happened
First date is wayyy harder than it sounds😂 I mean if I take the time to practice it, it's not so scary, but when you try hop back into playing it after a long time away it'll humble you 😂
My brother who is a great black metal drummer, when we went and watched the transplants at the Warped Tour in 2004, nobody could take their eyes off of Travis Barker playing the drums on those songs

One of the best drummers in punk/rock without a doubt. The overall song structure in Blink songs was simple, but the drums are incredible and definitely way more complex.
People claim Travis Barker is overrated because he plays “generic” sounding drums for a lot of songs. However, if you watch his solos/warm ups, you realize he is actually a phenomenal drummer but just doesn’t showcase it that much. Is he the best? No, but he is a lot better than people give him credit for.

Never was a fan of blink 182. But I love Travis barker as a drummer. I use his signature drumsticks too, longer, lighter, and hard mtha fckn Stx, thyre slightly tapered with a ball at the end. Perfect. Jose Pasillas uses similar stix and so did Taylor Hawkins
Also shoutout to the mixing engineer, the drums are very much not in the front of the mix when he's playing the busy stuff, and it's all blending very nicely and almost creating like a soundscape. A lot of other bands couldn't get away with drumming like this, and I think a lot of it has to do with how big and in-your-face the percussion is for so much rock based music

He's been doing that forever, and as a drummer, I love it. I remember seeing them when I was in high school with another drummer friend of mine. We had(and probably still do haha) encyclopedic knowledge of all his drum parts, and whenever he'd mix it up we'd just look at each other and nerd out.. It was awesome!

I live this short. As a non musical person I wondered if drummer’s memorize the grooves and beats and play them the same, but Travis answered this for me. The big parts are the same and o guess he just ad libs in the style of the song to keep it fresh. Interesting
I'm a bassist, not a drummer, and i view travis barker similar to how i view Flea. Are there better musicians? Absolutely. But they have done a TON for their instrument in terms of getting people interested in learning, and being a gateway for more advanced techniques than your typical rock/pop musician.
One of the most creative drummers I've seen. Creativity is a skill. His playing in most of their songs are not just in the pocket but also interesting to listen. I create music too and a drummer in a band and it is really not that easy to make songs perfect and sound NOT boring. But at the same time, don't over think and just let the music flow. Change things here and there then get over. Just like how it is better for Mix Engineers to mix the song faster. It's not how fast you finish though, it's about NOT losing that target sound in your head that makes sense for the song.

I’m a bottom heavy drummer I use a lot of double bass. He is a VERY versatile top heavy drummer. There’s a lot of greats but he’s way up there. 💯
