- These logs are so large that they are barely movable and its time to put them on the very top of my log home. It took me days to complete each log but I am very excited to share how they turned out! I also work on a very important beam that has a ton of character that is going to be a real centerpiece in this house! In the next video I will be working on the log floor joists for this house and then there will only be 1 round remaining before the log work is complete!

I have the pleasure of sharing my passions for the wilderness, building, fixing and all other things interesting with my great group of RUclips friends.
I have lived offgrid in the bush for over 3 years, but now I am moving to the next chapter in my life and am building a big log home as my next place to live. It is going to be an incredible journey building my own home. I am using logs I harvested myself and plan to do most of the work by myself. This project will be the main focus of my channel, with many other adventures along the way im sure!

Kyle I am retired from owning a marine construction business. I was strict about safety! Which you do as much as possible. But anybody who says they never do anything not safe ever in any kind of construction is lying. There is always that time when you need to go outside the box, I don’t recommend this , but you find yourself in a situation that you have no choice. The people that get hurt are the ones that never see the danger in what they are doing. You do have a grasp on what you’re doing which is good. Buddy please continue to be safe and take the time to see the consequences of what you do. You’re far from help! I have watched you for a long time. Love what you do and your videos! Lordy, Lordy. When it comes to safety, no price is too great. The electric chain saw, the second set of eyes, the ramp of dirt, the ratchet strapping so the log won't roll (in the one direction) then working from that side with the O'FCK moment - I'm as exited as you to see this build completed so I pray for your safety and am blown-away by your intelligence to find simple ways to achieve so much and so many safety methods and ways to do things. All of these things make you who you are and we all love your personality. Thanks a whole heap for everything you are doing. This Granny loves you for it.

when i was a kid i would watch shows like high chapparel,star trek,bonanza,daniel boone,etc.etc.etc. but now that i am near 65 this is the kind of stuff i really love to watch...i have much respect for you young man...be safe...if only i had it to do over again but we only have one life to live...

Try a long handled round mouthed shovel to help peel the bark of your logs when the sap is flowing. Turn the shovel upside down, the curve of the shovel almost fits the log and the long handle gives you lots of leverage. It worked well for me. Cheers from BC. Love your channel!
