    I could see myself stealing for survival, but not for the sake of having NICE THINGS. I grew up in a very wealthy adopted family and had all the material things I wanted. I left due to abuse and I'm disabled now due to epilepsy. and I've been right at the poverty line for my entire adult life. I haven't had nice things in over 20 years, but for me, I've never felt the urge to be dishonest just to have THINGS. I'm content as long as I'm fed and have a warm bed. These people need a hard dose of reality and what it's like to be truly broke, they're taking everything for granted.

      This tribe in Africa was asked if they wanted anything.Answer: WE HAVE WHAT WE NEED SO WHY DO WE WANT FOR ANYTHING! They were extremely happy, no drug addicted kids, etc. In USA so many keep thinking they'd be happy if only they had an expensive toy, when really all the love they can share brings them true bliss. Even when whole family struggles to keep a roof over their heads & fed r happier than those with all the gold! Water will be the new gold, global warming. When a loved one dies is not the time to realize tomorrow is not promised. So sorry u were abused! Summer Wells case has my soul bc I can see she was abused, & craved LOVE!

      Yeah I agree. My family wasn't wealthy by any means. Free meals at school, never name brand clothing ever lol. But ( unlike you unfortunately) there was so much love. I'm still not rich! Shame what a sad story.
      Sophistication is a lie. These people are slaves to their need to be considered as a member of the elite club. They are scared of rejection from their so called peers. There is a very good story about people's perception of wealth which goes like this.
      An old couple were sitting one night with their teenage grandson having some tea and cake. The grandson was excitedly talking about all his grand schemes to become super rich. Then he told his grandparents how he would spend al this new found wealth. He said he would buy his grandparents and parents a new house with the latest furniture and also a new car.
      The grandfather looked over to his wife and they smiled knowingly together then the grandfather spoke to his grandson.
      "Young man I want you to answer a few questions for me."
      "Sure grandad." The youth answered.
      Then the grandfather started his questions and answers.
      Question: How many roofs can a trillionaire sleep under in one night?
      Answer: 1
      Question: How many meals can a trillionaire eat in one day?
      Answer: 3 or 4
      Question: How many sets of clothes can a trillionaire wear at a time?
      Answer: 1
      Question: How many cars can a trillionaire drive at a time.
      Answer: 1
      The grandfather smiled at the youngster and sighed before continuing, "Yes, I have worked hard for what I have got. But, I have a good house in a decent area. I have enough to eat and also enough clothing. I have a reliable car and enough money put away for a comfortable life."
      "But Granddad" the youth interrupted.
      His grandmother put her finger to her lips and said "Shhh, let me continue from your granddad".
      "We have a very comfortable life with what we have. No we do not have a mansion, designer clothes, expensive jewelry or motor cars but when you consider that a trillionaire is human and his needs with what we have we are as rich as a trillionaire."
      Her grandson did not look convinced or happy but his grandmother was not finished.
      ",Sweet heart do you think that these super rich people are happy? Do you know that in Bill Gates house every door is a bank vault door for security reasons? If someone visits him they have to wear a clipcard which constantly monitors where they are in the building. Every corner of his home is covered by surveillance cameras and there is a squad of security officers monitoring the entire residence 24/7. His children have body guards with them 24/7. They are terrified of assassins, burglars or kidnappers. Do you know that the elite people make the psychiatrists rich because they have to visit them so often and they spend fortunes on sedatives so they can sleep at night? If there is a stock market crash a large amount of these people commit suicide. The poorer people are used to working to survive and in these hard times they make a plan to overcome their problems.
      No dear, we have enough and we are as rich as trillionaires"
      The youngster by this time looked more thoughtful and his grandparents could see their talk was successful. This was confirmed when he gave them a cheeky smile and asked for the last chocolate biscuit on the plate.

    It's funny how in the UK middle class means "pretty well off" and in the US it means "not in abject poverty/ racking up debt so as not to appear desperately poor"

    • @sluttymctits4496
      @sluttymctits4496 4 года назад +49

      My thoughts exactly. But I wonder just how true this description actually is in the UK, what regular non-media types think, as this video seems to really try to portray more upper-middle class people as plain working stiffs. In the US, you can live paycheck to paycheck and be unable to afford any vacations/fancy extras/healthcare, but as long as even the most basic food is on the table, _that's_ middle class. And that's sad.

    I used to deliver pizza as a teenager. Back then, a lot of pizzas cost $19.95. Lower middle class people were usually kind and usually tipped. Upper middle class .... they'd say things like "You owe me a nickel". My boss said we roll quarters. We roll dimes. We never roll nickels. "Upper middle class" people didn't tip and they wanted their nickel.

      That's how they became rich - by penny pinching. Also, they don't care/understand what it is to be in your position so they absolutely have no inclination to tip you. If you're what they considered poor, then it's bc you're lazy, didn't work hard enough, it's your fault and it's your bad luck. Nothing to do with them. People born into money just don’t understand what it is for others not to have any, so they don’t have empathy. And many wealthy people didn’t make it honestly, they cheat on taxes (hello Trump), bypass bankruptcy laws, undercut their contractors etc. and the penny pinchers are the worst because they’ll always be poor in their mind, they’ll never have enough money to be happy. To them money isn’t a tool, it is the end goal in itself. They get a sense of value from having it, rather than spending it on valuable experiences

I am 72 so that might be the issue. I also am surprised at how much more I was impacted by this video than the last time. I got angry watching this knowing at how many poor people are put in jail for years more than these people have gotten for the same crime. I also don't like how these people look like it wasn't no big thing. At my age I have time to think about my life and the things that pop up most are the things that I did wrong. I wonder if these people have a conscience as I do.

She paid for her goods at the counter but somehow failed to pay for the cardsand only found them unpaid for once she got home. The cards were just overlooked during the purchased and packed in the bag with her other things and she hadn't even realized it. She was back at the store the next day to pay for them.

Another wealthy lady would look around to see if anyone was watching and dump a whole basket of sugar packets in her purse.

She's probably in violation of the law in a few different areas, but if the people who are making and supposedly enforcing the laws are doing the exact same thing, who's going to make a big fuss about it? Honestly having seen what some rich people are doing it really makes you feel disillusioned about this country.

    When I was working at an upmarket department store there was a sophisticated lady from the most expensive suburb in town who used frequent the store. When she walked into the store we would professionally carry on with our work but keep an eye on her all the time and alert the manager of the store that she was there. Over and over again she was caught stealing. When this happened the manager would call her husband who would arrive with the family lawyer apologize to the manager who was also the owner, pay for the items stolen and take her away. We once asked the manager why he did not sue them or lay charges and he just shook his head with a grim look and said that the family was very powerful and to sue the family would not only be very expensive but they could also make every operation of the store suffer. We further asked him why she would do this and bring disgrace on her family and he said with an equally exasperated expression on his face that with her sophisticated life she was bored and this added an element of excitement to her full life. "But" he added, "if my wife had to do this I would divorce her and send her as far away from me as possible. She needs psychiatric help!!!"

      It does have something to do with where you’re from. You can’t deny that upbringing and social factors contribute to crime. It’s been proven time and time again. You’re right in saying it has to do with character. The truth is it’s a mixture of both of those things as well as your social circle, family, friends and genetics. These all contribute to an entire human being and altogether will determine what actions you take in the future. So to say it has absolutely NOTHING to do with where you’re from and EVERYTHING to do with character is a bit hyperbolic. It’s all of those things in different measures all mixed together.

There were employees who snuck away for a smoke or to do personal business every time a manager was gone. They spent more time out of the office than in it. Several were running their own businesses on company time and equipment. The management turned a blind eye to it. The owners were oblivious due to lack of involvement with the actual workings of the company. The worst damage in dishonest behavior is to the person doing it. We handled car accidents and so if Brown and Jones had an accident she would simply insert Smith as another involved party. Do this randomly enough over many hundreds of files and you can get away for a long time undetected. Eventually she was caught and her punishment? 250 hours community work for stealing $250k. The company didn't pursue it too vigorously because they were embarrassed by the media attention. It also left us workers with much harder jobs. Ten steps to make payments making the job much slower.

    41:20 this guy i can almost respect, a painting is valueless, the only thing that gives it value is how much someone will pay for it, and he should be honoured that someone would pay 25.000 for his paintings even though it’s a copy 😂

    Well shame on the credit card companies for not cutting Dan off and extending credit line after credit line--what are they thinking giving an obviously irresponsible person unsecured loans???

      Amelia G-T This is all so interesting to me! Do you mind explaining how one would go from lower middle class to upper middle class? It's so different from America where it's mostly all about the money you have. Thank you :)

      Amelia G-T I like how the tax system is handled in the U.K. though because it's income based. My question is does the lower class (poor folks) have to pay more interest in taxes if left behind or you just only pay the tax amount?

    • @momversation5826
      @momversation5826 6 лет назад

      martin corderoy Wow so if I'm not mistaken, income tax is every month in the UK vs annually in the US?? That's quite suprising! It seems quite hefty though as far as how much you would owe or take home.

    • @shananagans5
      @shananagans5 6 лет назад +2

      Momversation: In the US your employer withholds your estimated taxes. Then you file once a year & the Internal Revenue Service gets paid from the money your employer withheld. Then you typically get a refund check. Most employers withhold a bit more than you are likely to owe. You get that back in the form of a refund check.
      You really don't ever see that money. On your paycheck stub it shows how much is withheld & then you get a check for your net income.
      Self employed have to do a form either monthly, 2x a year, or yearly that essentially estimates your taxes & you send a check in with the forms. Most people do it monthly. The once or twice a year is for people making very little in a side business or something.
      They don't just send you giant bill at the end of the year. lol People don't have the self control to set aside 5 or 10+% of their income.
      lol Nobody would have it if they did it that way.

      Yes, if you have more take-home pay, you can use it for investments or whatever, and pay at the end of the year your taxes. So the UK's is heftier.

    To look at where the real problems with crime exist it's worth investigating the domestic and international operations of banks and governments to name just two.
