Prime era in general imo
I don't care what decade it is. There's ALWAYS someone looking into "loopholes ".
As you should. If your not the predator you’re the prey.
in 1990 I was with a friend who we went to see a lawyer who told me There are loop holes in the stystem they were put there for us to find and ever since--I looked for legal loop holes and sure enough--I found plenty.. I did not break the law--I used the Law to my benefit.. Sad many folks have no idea how simple.. it is many laws put out specifically for us..
This is why a global prison is in the making. With loopholes only for insiders.
The punchline "THEN HE RAN FOR PRESIDENT!🎉🎉😂😅😂
The greatest Con Artist is Donald Trump look what he managed to do to an entire nation with Russia and China help.
He is POTUS hes been ripping us off the tax payers 50+ years
The Bush regime rolls on.
Then? He's ALWAYS running... for pres or whatever, or even from the truth!
As an American, I totally believe 911 was an inside job! I know, off topic but I do believe it!
How can someone get 20 years in prison for petty crimes but a scammer steals millions and only get 40 months
Or murderers get set free or only get 3 years in prison
Simple, it came out of Seattle, a liberal safe haven where crooks are in charge.
What is a " scammer " , if you don't mind me ask8ng ??
@@dewalt4595 A scammer is a conman, a trickster, a fraudster.
@@dewalt4595 Someone that is selling something like a product or service yet when the customer pays for that service or product the person selling the product takes the money and never delivers what they were selling.
Ie: If I'm a shoe salesman and tell you to buy these great shoes for a good price and you end up paying me for them before I actually give you the shoes I promised and I run off with the money you just gave me I am now a scammer and have scammed you out of your money.
I assume you are not American?
I love the moment he recognized who he was trying to hustle 😂
Been loving this program for many decades.
Nobody was better than Mike Wallace "60 Minutes" had some heavy hitters too. Lol. Thanks for sharing.
I love those way those car hucksters laugh.
The credit card jail guy was funny as hell even though he’s robbing people blind.
he counts on that.. most con artists hav high charisma.. bill clinton
I’m sure he murdered the person with a chuckle as well.

“To bear children into this world is like carrying wood to a burning house.”
― Peter Wessel Zapffe
I don't agree. The child that you bring into this world may CHANGE the world for the better.
Well the stove has to be fed but I doubt the stove will be changed by the wood. Reverse metaphor?
"Tax free" made me laugh. They expect him to fill out a 1099
That jailhouse con artist is pretty ingenious. Got to give the guy his props. Still, I'd love to see Law Enforcement go after Big Businesses that con employees/consumers.
Yeah, we'll that will happen... never. Don't bite the hand that feeds you and all.
We need an update on con artists. This came out when I was a baby, things have changed so much!
They r mainly cybercriminals now. It's profitable

My father was as honest as they come. He grew up with strict morals on a ranch. Everyone hated dad at the Ford dealership, except the owner. Dad wouldn't sell hardly anything all year long, but once every year like clockwork all the ranchers, and farmers Pops grew up with drove into town specifically to trade-in their old trucks for new ones, and they refused to do any business with anyone else. He hated the job which gave him nose bleeds, headaches, high blood pressure, and he started drinking. Eventually the toxic work environment killed him at the ripe old age of 41 of a massive heart attack. No good deed ever goes unpunished they say.
Wish the world had more good men like him. RIP
Love the way guys dressed in the early 90s. leather jackets, tight blue jeans, mustaches, aviators
nowadays when you wear that.... someway, somehow, a boomer appears out of nowhere, yells "SKINNY JEANS" and calls you a metrosexual
That was mid to late 80s actually

I love his Gulf Coast accent. You don't hear many like that in the Houston area anymore. There's a saying in Houston, "...dirty as a Washington Ave used car salesman."

I've been looking for this for a long time. Thank you!
This is excellent journalism! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to your careers back then! The best exposure time ever was the 90s! Before journalism was tainted by corruption! ❤
Actually, I believe internet access and citizen journalism undermined mainstream journalism even more than any corruption.
@@mattskustomkreations That's why they're after it and label everyone who gets too close a conspiracy theorist. Just like they did with critics of the Warren Commission and the NIST report.

I'm from Houston and this explains why a lot of those "MOJO" car lots are gone off of 45 North. I left Houston in `95, came back in 5yrs later and they were gone. 90% of those car lots were used ones. It's all new car lots now with used ones. Wow.
I remember when I was a kid, watching my neighbor use a rollback device on a car he was about to sell. He was big time Jesus loving church going Christian of course .
He's been replaced or at least outdone by other believing con artists from other monotheistic faiths now.
Just like corporations, they don't pay taxes on their income.
2:16 "The heavyset fellow"
Something that would probably get you cancelled today.
I mean, it's not that rude, really.
Bro left a huge log in the toilet in the last segment
32:52 This guy knows how to make lemonade out of lemons 🤣
The district court determined the amount of loss per car as $4,000 and calculated the total amount of loss as $6,000,000. It thus added fourteen levels to the base offense level for amount of loss. The court added two levels for more than minimal planning; four levels for Whitlow’s role as an organizer or leader; and two levels for obstruction of justice. The district court subtracted two levels for acceptance of responsibility and arrived at a total offense level of 26. The court sentenced Whitlow to four concurrent 36-month sentences and concurrent 60- and 84-month sentences. It also prohibited Whitlow from employment in the used-car industry while on supervised release.

He is a con artist but tell me which Potus wasn't or isn't? Kennedy? LOL. I'd say Ron Paul could have been the first honorable man in office ever but of course that wasn't allowed to happen. He was labeled an extremist by the MSM while Dump, Buythem, Obummer, Skull & Bush and the Clingons all were and still are.
I have heard the corny line "a little old lady owned this car. she only drove it a couple times per month!" at least 6 times.
When nearly everyone who does business with Americans demands a social security number or refuses your service
In the modern world 🌎
You're forced against your will to do it in order to live.
But these same businesses of every kind get hacked daily, and criminals get you social security numbers, and you are the victim of an unjust system
When I got a social security number, it said do not share, do not use as I.D. so what happened.
I very seldom had to ever give it to any enity till I was 50 years old.
Now it seems that to do about 40% of transactions and as high as 90%, I'm am forced to do so against my will to survive.
It's wrong.

I was shocked by that! I live here. Yes, there are wh*te supremicists with businesses not far away who are overtly racist. Even signage is. But for 60 Minutes to just name that business without batting an eye. Wow. Not even that long ago too!
32:08 the way Mike kinda eggs them on is classic Mike Wallace. Miss that guy.
I will watch every episode of the new Dukes of Hazard with Bill Whitlow
They're still rolling back milege, mine was at Ford Motor Co in Batdstown, KY.
Insurance companies require your milage reading quite often and there is a record of it.some actually inspect the car and it's milage. Those records could be made available to buyers.
Is this on the 60 minutes merch?
Yes and we need more harsh penalties when you’re caught. 40 months is not a deterrent for doing this. Watching Tahiti’s infuriating. The honor system era is over. Too many scammers exit today to trust anyone with access to such a convenient way to collect cash. This should be a minimum of 10 years. 40 months is a joke.
All the car dealers want is plausible deniability... "Of course I didn't know...".
So, how do they roll back electronic odometers?
So incredible and embarrassing for the government.
It's very hard to roll back odometers today.
When is this? 1996?
R.I.P Bill Whitlow!!! Real H Town legend

Favorite TV theme song
When i traded in my car. The agency submitted my title with redused miliage.
A lot of these cars have been sold so many times. The dealers are actually going for the deposits on the cars. People buy them easy with a large down payment. Miss a couple of payments and the tow trucks come and get them. The dealers and the tow truck make a fortune. Some dealers even own tow truck themselves. Some banks go out of business and all the cars get repo even if the customer make their payment on time. A car can be repossessed in less that 2 seconds. Thats where the money is at. Selling to people you know can't make the payments.
I always loved the fake cancer scam stories since those helped me not waste my money
I knew it when I was 15 years old in early 90’s
Can't erase the miles off the ECM. Always have an ASE certified mechanic examine a used car before purchase.
Taxpayers can get a separate unique security number from the IRS that is mailed to them each year and must be included on their annual tax return (as a second factor authentication) for the return to be accepted by the IRS. I'm surprised 60 Minutes didn't mention that solution to the identity theft problem.
He the Boss Hog of the car business lolol
Nowadays, they pull the interior out, throw an old bezel in, run it for 300,000 miles and then put everything back in. This is so old fashioned, its a waste of time
Did you ever think of cleaning the numbers off the wall? When did they have phones in their cells? A phone on the hallway wall makes more sense. We've lost our minds about rights.
Crazy good.
This is a decades old show. I’m wondering if this still possible with newer electronic odometers and computerized title/registration records which often record odometer miles and ability to catch this nefarious practice.
I knew a lessee prior to turning in is lease he had his digital odometer rolled back so he wouldn't have to pay for the extra mileage.
