Some of these places wouldn’t be a home for long, renovations that have to be approved by a historical group literally take forever and things must be done according to updated standards etc. If it’s listed as a historical place to see, then everyone will be parading through all the time! I saw a program where a couple did this and said never again! If they are so historically significant then why the hell doesn’t the local government grow some balls and allocate money for them!
Plas Gwyfnfryn, in Wales is another one that’s a tear down. Bulldoze it. It’s way way to far gone and it suffered a massive fire that not gutted it, but I assure you it weakened all the rock and its foundations. Fire is the number 1 thing that weakens rock / stone homes.

And most real castles went out of fashion and use when black powder and explosives and the ability to rip them down in minutes became a possibility. Most tower houses in Ireland and Scotland were more of a castle than the ones you see here.
I do not know why, But if I were a Billionaire, I would like to buy that Moroccan estate and completely put it back to its former glory. I do not know why, as I already said, but there is just something about the place. Jeff

Is it me or there something odd about the narrator's voice? It sounds like he is computer generated. The rhythm of his speech sounds clipped and assembled somehow. Or is it that he read copy that was actually longer than the final version and the clipped sound is due to editing?
So sad, we can't perserved these historic castles. I wonder if is cheaper to take them down and moved them to another country and rebuild. If is somehow cheaper to that way, i wanna do it. Save the good material and throw the bed on. Also is so much regulation about old buildings so it will probably be no idee, no matter how you do it. These huge castles is no point even if you are rich, who say you or your son later can afford it or anybody that wanna buy it, some buildings are just to big to have.
