I just watched the absolutely BRILLIANT and so so evocative Wham documentary narrated by George & Andrew on Netflix. Just the most joyful thing I’ve seen in a ling time. One & a half hours wallowing in nostalgia to the soundtrack of my years between 16/20 in the UK. My one regret was giving my brother my tickets to their final concert 😫😫😫😫 (because their last few releases had been a bit too cheesy for 20 year old me!!! 😫) What the hell was I thinking? Had NO idea how historic and epic that concert at Wembley would be 💔💔💔 I was a HUGE fan of George when he went solo (absolute LEGENDARY songwriter, and oh that voice!! ❤️🏆) Lucky enough to see him perform live twice, but AGAIN regret choosing not to attend his Albert Hall concert where he sang with the London philharmonic Orchestra!! (now one of my favourite of his Albums❤️💔) Little did I know that he would be taken from us just a few years later SO young and in Christmas Day! 🥹💔 (I literally sobbed the whole Christmas week like a family member had died, and for weeks after when his music was played on the radio. Still lose it now when certain songs play) But watching their documentary just made my soul soar. Everything about it took me back and reminded me of the BEST times❤️❤️❤️ Also showed how it was Andrew who was the power source behind Wham. Their relationship (from age 12!) was SO beautiful. Andrew was like the Sun, and the terribly insecure ‘Yog’ (George) was like a seedling that I really don’t think would have ever blossomed without Andrew’s irresistible ‘light’ shining on him, his magnetism and belief in them both pulling George in. The documentary is a beautiful testimony to their friendship ❤️
And so the Lord said " George now going to show the world their first look at a future musical icon , yes you might be controversial at times and might upset some people out in he big wide world. However they will love you, cherish the words and music you will create , but more importantly they will respect you and the kind person you will become in life. You will never brag about your success and you will never boast about the help you give to other people less fortunate than yourself , one last thing you need to know George I will call you when its time for you to return to me as am missing you right now here in heaven , but one thing is for certain when I do call you planet earth will never be the same again without you. " The Lord was so right we miss George more than ever , I cant find the words to describe how much hes missed Rest In Peace xx
Remember being unemployed and depressed at the time, but when I listened to this it sparked something in me to say f*ck it! Don't worry!!...I was a fan of his ever since. Incredible voice and generous man who changed so many lives, we share the same birthday!....by the way they were so skint he is wearing Shirley's jeans!...RIP.
Great memory, although by this point Andrew and George would have had more money in their pockets than ever before with two top ten hits under their belt (this, a reissue of their debut single that originally bombed the previous year and their second single Young Guns charting before this second issue of wham rap) and thus they would have been signed off many months before this totp show. Just sayin' 😉
Wow, that is a great memory. June 25th? Splendid. My sister has the same birthday. I was actually born the week of this perfornance. Wish I'd been a little older to appreciate the true awesomeness of Wham's carefully crafted TOTP appearances. Naturally I've ben a fan from a young age. Their contribution still holds up today in terms of aggressive optimism, energy, melody, production, exuberance, everything. A life cut too short but filled with outpourings of charity and tremendous music.
@@robhollywood647 Nah, Wham! had signed a dreadful contract and were both pretty much skint until their new management team eventually extracted them from it. They were both on about £45 per week even though they were one of the biggest pop bands in the UK

Never knew about this song until I watched the Netflix documentary. But HOLY COW...the bass player in this song IS the song. He's amazing. Do a show on him!
В Джордже Майкле погиб великий рэпер. Это правда, у него действительно здорово получалось исполнять rap, причем в то время, когда это еще не было мейнстримом.
I was 11 years and living in England and I remember watching this when it aired. Such good memories. I will always love them. RIP George. You are so missed.
The fact he was only 18 when they recorded this and 19 performing it here is absolutely insane, the confidence he already has in his performing. Is it any wonder that men and women alike were in love with him? ❤
@@matthewwilkes1973 “Young Guns” was the first time Wham! performed on Top Of The Pops. This was re-recorded specifically for this which was months later.

I remember seeing this and they literally exploded right out of my television and the next day at school we were all going “ who WAS thanks RUclips for having this one on here I just watched the george Michael freedom uncut documentary and suddenly had the urge to see it so here I am reliving my adolescence 😊
George, I always call him my husband. I would have gladly been his man. EARLY WHAM! forever, Wham! were soooo unique with the Fantastic era, such energy, political messages, a big 'f*** you' to society's rules and what was expected of kids in society. To write Wham! off as just 'POP' is not at all as Wham! should be remembered or credited as, because they were so much more. If people who are not Wham! fans such as I and other fans, they need to listen closer.
I have to say it! although I do not like Rap I admit that this song by Wham! I love! Above all and especially the chorus and the music itself, it is so catchy that it is impossible not to dance and sing it when listening to it, I like the extended version of the song remixed again as it was published in the great hits of 1986.
I didnt like this when it came out ..I was the same age as GM and AR back then..and I guess I envied what they were doing compared to what I was going...then I saw them live in Dublin, mid 80s..instantly became a convert ...saw George in Sydney 25 years later..still a massive fan of Wham and GM ...forever.. and I love the ongoing loyality of all the diehard fans...respect!
This is my everyday theme song😎....I wanna be your wifey Andrew...I might have to join the Twitter and follow you! It's not like I have a job, but paperwork for the unemployed😽
No they did young guns on totp first. Wham rap was released first but didn’t chart so they rereleased it after young guns hit it big and did this show then. Just read about it in Andy’s book.

Most parents were war babies. All of which were twats.
Just how George owns that stage with his moves. He wasn't born with that self confidence, but Andrew helped instill it. They were so damn good.

Fantastici Wham!!!
This is my all-time fave Wham track and mention must be made of Deon Estus's bass playing. Brilliant energetic performance on TOTP.
Deon estus is one of my all time bass players. Unfortunately that's not him on this recording!

Brilliant! But how many versions of this song did they perform? That's not the same version as on the album...
This is the original and video version from June 1982 I believe. Much better than the album version.
They had to re record for Top Of The Pops.
@@matthewwilkes1973 “Young Guns” was the first time Wham! performed on Top Of The Pops. This was re-recorded specifically for this which was months later.
As a young lad, I remember wishing they’d show more of Pepsi and Shirlie during Wham’s sets, always dancing and clapping but in the background.
Pure happiness.
