You didn't like the Norman "Hurricane" Smith version? His wife wrote the song. Norman was the recording engineer for The Beatles from their demo record up to Rubber Soul. The Beatles were going to record one of his songs for an album and it would have been the only original song recorded by The Beatles that wasn't written by one of the four. George Martin put a stop to it saying the album needed a "Ringo" song.
OH BABE, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY? (E.S. Smith) Hurricane Smith - 1972 Have I a hope or half a chance, To even ask if I could dance with you? You-hoo! Would you greet me or politely turn away? Would there suddenly be sunshine on a cold and rainy day? Oh, Babe! What would you say? For there are you, sweet lollipop, Here am I with such a lot to say, hey, hey! Just to walk with you along the Milky Way. To caress you through the night time, bring you flowers every day..... Oh, Babe! What would you say?
E. Smith was his wife. Hurricane Smith was Norman Smith, the recording engineer for the Beatles from their first demo record up to Rubber Soul. He wrote an autobiography "John Called Me Normal" in reference to John Lennon making fun of the way Norman would go to work in a suit and tie instead of dressing in the style of the time.
Reminds me of Michael Scott's proposal at the Diwali celebration where he's turned down in front of everyone. @@Chaosdude7111 definitely. Most of the funniest moments didn't have anything to do with gender. And why would we even watch the same thing with different actors all over again? The original is absolutely fantastic, but they should do something differently second time around.
@My Account Understood. I was born in the early 60s, so I was about 11 when it came out. The station my sister listened to played it to death and I quickly tired of it (and began imitating it derisively). I do tend to appreciate the "older" music, but this one just rubbed me the wrong way. But I appreciate your thoughtful reply and no offense meant.
True, but there's a certain something something about "Normal Norman's" voice ON THIS SONG that's captivating, or maybe it's the '40s music that my parents taught me to love (I was nuts about New Vaudeville Band in the '60s until they played "Winchester Cathedral" to death) that generations music. Gilbert O'Sullivan does a good job with it.
It's the way he says "oooh oooh" that kills me every time! Love it!
Always love it when Frasier sings and Niles dances.
He had such a great voice for standards and tunes in this style.

Funny, witty, intelligent, cultured, Frazier is amazing!
Amaizing voice
I love this song and the "Frasier version is the best one I can find.

Poor Frasier.
love his voice, totally. he could ve been a famous singer
Isn’t this one of the best bits of tv ever
I wish 0:44 and 1:30 were ringtone options.
I love this scene. I, too , identified with the humiliation of placing unreasonable expectations on a relationship. But I really liked the song too. 😬
@xspettacolare That is his voice. He also sings the shows theme song at the end (Tossed salad and scrambled eggs...).

Agreed -- now it's "More tech, less respect."
The woke police and loser libs would demand apologies for the main cast being all white
Great stuff
That actress is unbelievably hot.. I mean, REALLY hot.
MK Warlock Too bad she’s a bitch
@Air Aid XD She's a bitch because she humiliated Frasier in front of all these people.
@@megabojan1993 He was referring to the actress, not the character. There is a difference you know.
@@helenaville5939 Who cares. She still looks like a stuck up bitch to me.

The episode is called "sliding Frasiers"
BARF.

Kelsey Grammar’s version of this song is so much better than the actual singer’s
This happened to me once.
What did she said at the end??

Thank you for posting the lyrics to this song.
It's Yes oh baby I know
That elderly lady looks like Vera Lynn!
Ouch!
is that an actual song or written just for the show?
Hurricane Smith: Oh Babe, What Would You Say
Ouch..
Monica is played by actress Charlotte Ross.
I would of hid under the table!!!😜🙄
With all the Gender Fluidity these days ,,would a reboot of Frasier be in the making
What does gender fluidity have to do with this? Just a less heteronormative Frasier? I'd be down!
@@Chaosdude7111 definitely. Most of the funniest moments didn't have anything to do with gender. And why would we even watch the same thing with different actors all over again? The original is absolutely fantastic, but they should do something differently second time around.
There are talks of a new narrative with Frasier starring Kelsey. That, in my opinion, would be the only way to do it. Anything else would not compare.
It’s officially been announced!
Who plays Monica?
Charlotte Ross. She was on "The Five Mrs. Buchanans."
Ouch......
HE BUTCHERED Hurricane Smith's Masterpiece!!!
Ugh!!!!
Vaya con Dios
It’s a comedy…..
Better than Hurricane Smith's version!
At least he sang it better than "Hurricane Smith" did.
