David did an amazing job as Niles ,some actors are not crazy about Hollywood ,and I deeply respect that ,we can remember him as a star of Fraser but life goes on and he can do anything he wants with his endless talent, good luck David H Pierce ! We shall never forget you
Acting is a hard profession. I imagine it’s emotional to keep doing the same character for years. I’ve been involved with acting and there’s the stress of rehearsals, the excitement of doing a show and then when it’s over that’s another whole set of emotions. Don’t know but maybe he just doesn’t want to repeat the past.
Listen Niles I'm a Christian against them that stole rainbow 🌈 however u r a superb lovely weird odd talent undeniably - look u went there in ur personal so pleeeez go there again w frasier ( trust me it's old n stale u can zest it up - couldn't u do it for Eddie 🐾 & ur dad in original as in memory of 🙏🤲
Without a doubt, my favorite episode is not so much an episode but the opening to one: The Valentine's Day one that opens with Niles waiting for his date and notices that his pants' crease was not perfect. What ensues is a progression of hilarity that culminates with him finally fainting at the sight of his own blood. I could watch that opening a thousand times and still laugh out loud.
A cameo appearance by him in the Frasier reboot would be an absolute hoot. He once did a comedic musical performance on stage at Montreal's "Just For Laughs". It was stellar. Just as described here, his timing was impeccable, and highly entertaining.
I absolutely adore Mr. Pierce. His dedication to his craft is evident whether it be on stage, on TV, or directing. His timing and comedic talent, to me, is unmatched, and I also commend him for his work with the Alzheimer's Association. What a legacy he will leave behind for all of us one day; one that he should be truly so very proud of.
The sheer energy David lent to the role of Niles Crane - especially in the first two seasons - was epic. If a spinoff series is to be successful, it has to stand on its own two feet and support its own weight without leaning too heavily upon the legacy of the series that birthed it. Every character has to pull their own weight in order to achieve harmony in a series, and the sheer energy that David lent to the character of Niles is really what lifted Frasier off the ground. He made his character so neurotically lovable from the very first scene, it’s difficult to watch the Frasier reboot without him.
To David Hyde Pierce, although you may never read this comment I still want to express how important you are in my life because your character of Niles, although fictitious, has been a foundation that helped me get through undergrad. Now, my later in life project has it's challenges just like your fictional son is experiencing. I'd love to see you return, if only to wish your tv son well, that would inspire so many. I truly am your devoted fan. First and foremost, please be well and stay well.❤ Happy Holidays

Frasier has been such a lifesaver for my family! We discovered it when moved to the US with my twin boys (10 years ago) They were teenagers at that time and we were all having a though time adapting us to a totally different life. Watching Frasier all together was our moment of joy as a family 🤗 it also created a communication bridge between us. Plus, my sons remind me an awful lot to Niles and Frasier! 😅 My husband and I usually exchange glances when we recognize them in them! 😂😂😂 They are even physically alike! 😝 I wish we can meet Pierce one day and tell him how much his outstanding work helped us to get through that time 🙏🏻
It's a shame the majority of his fans will be denied his beloved character Niles Crane. We can appreciate his amazing skills as an actor and love of the stage but the majority of his fans will never be able to see him in those roles. To try to mimic his style and talent as Niles isn't really right, even as his son. There will always only be one Niles Crane. He IS on a current hit show ‘Julia’ on Max & it just premiered it’s second season. He plays Julia supportive, sophisticated husband. Pierce is entertaining in the role and I believe it may become more complex second half of this second season. Julia is a wonderful show. ‘Frazier’ cast not regular, but she was just on a new episode, Dr. Lilith Stern.
I was going to say the same thing! I’ve always been a huge fan of David Hyde Pierce ever since watching him play Niles in Frazier and absolutely adored him in the HBO show Julia and was (not surprisingly) blown away by his performance in it. So I was taken aback by the title of this video??

That was the beauty of the original 'Frasier". It wasn't the character of Frasier, but the incredible ensemble cast and great writing that made it such a hit. David Hyde Pierce can be greatly credited, with his iconic performance as Niles. The Crane brothers' friendship, banter, sibling rivalry was absolute gold, with Niles so often stealing the scenes. Pierce was a theater rat who had worked on a few movies as well, when he was cast for "Frasier". The role he'll always be best-known for. But, his first love is the theater. In regards to sequel series, Pierce had stated that he didn't want to play Niles again, just for the sake of doing it. There has to be real purpose. I respect him for that and can't blame him a bit. The new series has tried to fill that void some, by having Niles' and Daphne's son, Frasier's nephew, be a regular character. And of course, him have some of the same personality traits and nuances of his Niles. It's a rather lazy and desperate attempt on the new show's part, which frankly doesn't the clever, intellectual humor, interesting ensemble cast and magic that the original Frasier did. The original show didn't have to depend on guest stars from "Cheers" to help carry it. They merely complemented the series. Though the new series has had an appearance by Lilith, and soon one with Roz...it's depending too much on these cameos. An appearance by Niles or Niles and Daphne would certainly boost the ratings for that episode, but wouldn't help the show overall. So, there's no reason for Pierce to make an appearance, how long or brief the new Frasier is around.
Much as i would love to see Niles return, sometimes going back can never be the same. He clearly feels that his time has been served there and coming back might do more harm than good. The show was such a success because of the combination of characters who were all in sync with each other. They complimented each other and bounced off each other's personalities. It was the best show ever, i loved it, and it got me through a time of deep sadness after losing my mum to a massive heart attack. Niles was so funny and talented, and good looking. I respect his choice to move on in the direction he feels most content and happy in.
Frasier has to be my favorite TV show. I can recite by heart many of the episodes. David Hyde Pierce's portrayal of Niles is brilliant. My favorite episodes are probably "My Coffee with Niles" and "Moon Dance." I am saddened by the fact that he will not be in the reboot of Frasier, but I understand his reasons for leaving the character behind. I did get to meet him, and he was very sweet and funny.
Niles was they ONLY reason I watched Fraiser!! Niles and Daphne were my favorites on the show. I have the dvds and only watch the episodes with those two characters. Hope he embraces what he brought to that role. Love him for it!❤
My favorite Frasier episode is when Frasier gets a Life Achievement Award, has an anxiety and identity crisis, and talks with his mentor, Dr. Tewksbury. Tewksbury helps him through his crisis by having him play caller and Dr. Crane in both roles. It's my favorite Frasier moment when, after Tewksbury asks him, "Then why are you burying him in psychiatric exercises ?" Frasier responds to Tewksbury, "Because it's all I know !" Frasier then honestly responds to his "caller", "I'm sorry caller, I can't help you." I love when Frasier lets the air out of his windbag self, and this is the best example.
DHP is at the top of my long and distinguished list of great actors of our time. He passed my test for great actors with his ability to play great comedy then turn around and play a great psycho role (The Perfect Host).
Somebody pointed out that his comedian talent has so many similarities in gesture, mimic and timing with Buster Keaton that I was blown away. It is true. He is a great classic comedian with a perfect stone face in the perfect moment, and the right amount of slapstick + an awesome vocal delivery.
I always thought he should have had a spin-off. My favorite Frazier episode is “ Ham Radio” . Niles doing all the character voice completely impromptu was classic.
Best comedy of all time. The whole cast and writers were outstanding. You couldn't even pick a favourite. Niles, Frasier, Marty and Roz were comedy geniuses. Martys smile melted my heart. ❤
I would say that he is a phenomenal actor and it’s good to see him have fun doing all manner of things… Obviously it’d be so great for us to see about 50,000 more episodes of Niles and Frasier together again, because they truly were meant to play those roles… those pretentious Crane brothers! How brilliant they were… TV at its zenith.
I love Niles on Fraser! It’s understandable that everybody has to live their own lives for their own contentment. As a viewer we fall in love with the characters in a show and sometimes forget that they are actors playing a part! Yes I wish Niles would be part of the new series, but he is very successful in everything he does. Wishing him great happiness in his life and a big thank you for all his work that we enjoy. I will always have a crush on Nile’s though!🙏❤️🎼
A thoroughly decent and lovely man. Bless him. Loved Frasier, still do. It's hard to pick a favorite though I'll go with the Skiing weekend. Hysterical.
0:54 - _"He made his debut as Niles in the Cheers episode, the show where Diane comes back"_ -- What are you talking about? David Hyde Pierce was never on Cheers, nor was he ever mentioned on Cheers, because his character was created after Cheers had ended.
Frasier is my favorite show. When I heard about the reboot I was skeptical. But after seeing I I enjoyed it very much I like how Frasier is like martin a d now Freddy is the fraiser.. I enjoy Niles son too and yes I think it would be wonderful to See David back as Niles at least for one episode
He's a brilliant actor and I wonder if Frasier would still be the success it is had it not been for good old Niles, that character just not have existed had it not been played by David
So he DOES show his face. Just because he was not in Frasier 2023 or in several TV and film appearances does not mean he doesn't show his face. The title is misleading.
David should know that he inspired so many H.S. students in my classes. His biggest compliment was when they were asked how many years did they think Pierce studied acting, generally they said none. Why? Because it was an effortless, genuine performance. Bravo David!!
Absolutely! We feel the same way. Thank you for sharing your sentiments and for watching our content. What other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse?
He's a fantastic and talented human being. I'm sad I'm not able to see his physical comedy anymore and would love to see him in more things but I'm so glad that he's doing what he loves. I will watch the Frasier reboot regardless.
Cafe Nervoso where David gets to “Butterfly Net” Territory. I am sorry he doesn’t want to reprise his role, but if he feels this best, maybe it is. There is no way his character as Niles can be forgotten.
I always enjoyed watching Frasier. Specifically for the blooming romance of Niles and Daphne. Then, I saw his movie, The Perfect Host, and remembered thinking, wow!, he is a versatile actor. And Bugs Life is one of my kiddos favorite movies. I love to watch movies and guess who is doing the voices. Mr. Pierce, thank you for sharing your talents!
Favorite episode? FAVORITE EPISODE???? All of them!!! I dare say I've watched every episode 7..8..9....plus times. I applaud DHP for being true to himself and following his passions.❤ Ps. The rest of the cast was equally fabulous
I agree with you. Frasier is a very tasteful and tactful comedy show and really makes me laugh. I do have a very soft spot for David Hynde though and it can't be easy kissing women if you are a gay man. He should stick to comedy and if he was straight he is the kind of man I would fall in love with. 😊❤
Interesting video, never knew any of this. it sounds like he felt he played that character for long enough and was simply ready to move on, never really watched Frasier, but I knew friends who loved it.
Totally respect whatever stance he continues to make regarding coming back or not. He was perfect for the role and I have enjoyed his voiceover roles as well. He's an excellent voice actor, which is an underrated skillset.
I do wish the whole cast of Frasier would come back. However. Nothing would ever compare to my all time favorite show Frasier. The best show still on running
"The Show Where Diane Comes Back" was not a Cheers episode, it was a FRASIER episode-- Season 3, Episode 14. Meanwhile Niles made his debut on the PILOT of Frasier. What gutters do they drag for writers on these videos?
David Hyde Pierce was very good at the 2010 movie "The Perfect Host", a black comedy thriller. The original "Frasier" is my #2 favourite sitcom after "Seinfeld", and far more better than "Friends".
My favorite episode was when he was ironing his pants and chaos ensued- i about peed my pants laughing so hard. Id like to see niles again but it wouldnt be the same so God speed David!
One of my favourite comedy series ever. The acting was superb the writing brilliant. My favourite show was the one where Fraser is cooking with the chimp. You could tell the whole cast and crew were in stitches laughing. Brilliant! Niles was a fantastic character. Good Luck Niles with all your projects👍🇬🇧
Absolutely! We feel the same way. Thank you for sharing your sentiments and for watching our content. What other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse?
In 2010 he starred in a movie called The Perfect Host that showed his versatility in his craft. He played a nutjob police sargent and did so very well. VERY unNiles like.
Revivals are usually rather disappointing when compared to their originals, and that's probably the basis for Pierce's decision not to be a part of the revival. As for Frasier, wow! What an amazing TV show that was! In my opinion, vastly superior to Cheers. A lot more depth, and much funnier. And yeah, the sibling rivalry between Frasier and Niles drove the majority of the plots. It was so well done. I haven't watched the revival, and I'm not even sure I really want to. Revivals are like leftovers in the refrigerator, they just don't taste the same, not even when you warm them up in the microwave! In fact, I think watching the revival might ruin the experience of the original for me! As for my favorite episode of Frasier, that has to be DEATH AND THE DOG. It was an amazing episode where everyone in Frasier's family becomes concerned about Eddie's apparent depression, which leads them to reflect on their own reasons for their unhappiness. Then they discover that the best way to address sadness is not to constantly dwell upon it, but rather to think about all the things that we have to be grateful for. In my humble opinion, it was the absolute most poignant of the episodes, and really struck a responsive chord in me. All the episodes were wonderful! But that particular episode was EXTRA wonderful!
Wish he would at least make one guest appearance as Niles. With a story line that would explain his absence. He was such a part of the original cast ... he is missed.
I saw him perform decades ago at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At that time, he was just another actor on that tiny stage. I do remember it was Shakespeare, but I don't recall which play. ( I am REALLY reaching back into the vaults for this memory.) He was the perfect Niles Crane and a joy to watch. I'm so glad he is following his heart's desire.
True, and she said as much at least once in the show, but I mean most of the time she did function as a kind of housekeeper. I'm probably a bit off, but I do feel that she was half physical therapist half housekeeper in the show
DHP is an artistic gem. While I respect his decision not to reprise Niles in the new series, maybe he'd consider a one off appearance or two. I'm hoping that happens. The young man who portrays David (Niles & Daphne's son) is terrific. The actor who portrays Frederick is excellent.
While I love Kelsey Grammer, that show would have never been a success without David Hyde Pierce's portrayal of "Niles". They both provided exactly what was needed for an absolute amazing show.
David Hyde Pierce is such a monumental talent. His passion at this time is theatre so that's what I believe he should pursue, however, I must say that "Frasier" remains my favorite comedy (of my lifetime!) and that's because I found him to be 'over the top' funny and entertaining.
Always enjoyed DHP in his high jinx!! Life is to be enjoyed for the time we rent on this planet. It would have been a joy to see him in the revival of the Cranes but, his choice for his path is just that. Good luck to his future paths . Very sure it will continue to expose even more secret points to an artistic journey🎉

He was great in The Outer Limits episode, The Sentence.
Apparently he doesn't realize that, as he did not come back for Frasier 2.0

Good point.
@Kulumuli seen him a couple bit-parts but no leading roles. Can't mind which filums they were tho, he has a nice presence tho on screen

One of our favorites too, you've got fine taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
Best comedy of all time. The whole cast and writers were outstanding. You couldn't even pick a favourite. Niles, Frasier, Marty and Roz were comedy geniuses. Martys smile melted my heart. ❤
I was so in love with Niles, when I was a teenager. I thought he was one of the main reasons to watch Frasier.
Wherever he performs, I hope he occasionally makes use of his comedic talents, because he's powerfully gifted in that way.
He is one of the best physical comedians out there.
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
Frasier is my favorite show. When I heard about the reboot I was skeptical. But after seeing I I enjoyed it very much I like how Frasier is like martin a d now Freddy is the fraiser.. I enjoy Niles son too and yes I think it would be wonderful to See David back as Niles at least for one episode
We're happy to know that you're a fan of the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
He's a brilliant actor and I wonder if Frasier would still be the success it is had it not been for good old Niles, that character just not have existed had it not been played by David
Just love this 2× speed of RUclips's. Definitely recommend using it on this clip, since this was recited at a snail's pace.
No one can ever be Niles, but good he pursues what he loves. We have reruns if we need a Niles fix.
So he DOES show his face. Just because he was not in Frasier 2023 or in several TV and film appearances does not mean he doesn't show his face. The title is misleading.
One of the best characters on television ever!
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
Niles was never on Cheers. The episode "This Show Where Diane Comes Back" is a Frasier episode, not Cheers. @0:54
When I heard that I said "What???"
David should know that he inspired so many H.S. students in my classes. His biggest compliment was when they were asked how many years did they think Pierce studied acting, generally they said none. Why? Because it was an effortless, genuine performance. Bravo David!!
Beautiful words, thank you for your message for David. We're moved. Be safe and have a great evening 💕
Bring Niles back a couple times as a guest, would be wonderful to see him again. Saw him in Spamalot, hilarious as always!

Yes, he should return as Niles!
Absolutely! We feel the same way. Thank you for sharing your sentiments and for watching our content. What other types of video would you like to see on Facts Verse?
@@FactsVerse How about short lived TV shows that deserved more time, like Quark.
I so hope Pierce returns on Frazier even if just for a few sporadic appearances- it would be lovely.
He's a fantastic and talented human being. I'm sad I'm not able to see his physical comedy anymore and would love to see him in more things but I'm so glad that he's doing what he loves. I will watch the Frasier reboot regardless.
He is an amazing actor, so talented. Nothing more difficult to act than in comedies and he is absolutely MARVELOUS!
Cafe Nervoso where David gets to “Butterfly Net” Territory. I am sorry he doesn’t want to reprise his role, but if he feels this best, maybe it is. There is no way his character as Niles can be forgotten.
Dam that'll be a big suprise to him seeing he's on Hulu or Netflix show about Julia Childs as her husband.
Dan Akyroyd's portrayal of Julia Childs is epic
He did an excellent job as Julia Child's husband. See it if you can!
@@AutomatedPersonellUnit_3947John Candy did one as well on SCTV. In the ring as Julia boxing some pipsqueak. It was hilarious.
@@giovanna722 Cooking with LaRue 👍😂
I always enjoyed watching Frasier. Specifically for the blooming romance of Niles and Daphne. Then, I saw his movie, The Perfect Host, and remembered thinking, wow!, he is a versatile actor. And Bugs Life is one of my kiddos favorite movies. I love to watch movies and guess who is doing the voices. Mr. Pierce, thank you for sharing your talents!
We're happy to know that you're a fan of the show. In your opinion, what is its best episode?
He did a good job on the Simpsons as side show bob brother
Yes, we remember it too! Thanks for bringing back memories. What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
At 0:55 you seem to be saying that DHP first played Niles on Cheers but I am pretty sure that is wrong.
I've always adored him and would love to see him in a stage production one day.
Glad to know that you're a fan of David. Which of his roles appealed to you the most?
Niles was a regular cast member from Series 1, Episode 1. He didn't make his debut in 'The Show Where Diane Comes Back' which was (S3 E14).
I do wish the whole cast of Frasier would come back. However. Nothing would ever compare to my all time favorite show Frasier. The best show still on running
One of the best physical comedians ever.
I watch reruns and clips of Niles whenever I need a pick- me-up... which happens more often than is healthy...I LOVE NILES...
Its not like he disappeared. He is on Broadway all the time, playing fantastic roles.
One of our favorites too, you've got fine taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
My favorite episode was when he was ironing his pants and chaos ensued- i about peed my pants laughing so hard. Id like to see niles again but it wouldnt be the same so God speed David!
One of my favourite comedy series ever. The acting was superb the writing brilliant. My favourite show was the one where Fraser is cooking with the chimp. You could tell the whole cast and crew were in stitches laughing. Brilliant! Niles was a fantastic character. Good Luck Niles with all your projects👍🇬🇧
The best episode, when Nyles was ironing a pair of slacks.
Flipping hysterical!!😂😂😂 One of definite favorites.
One of our favorites too, you've got fine taste! What other types of video would you like to see?
Comedy gold!
You were perfect as Niles Crane. No one could ever replace you. Please come back.
I love Niles! He was brilliant as that character and I hope he returns on Frasier!
Niles character "made Frasier successful" they should have called it Niles...
I really miss Mr. David Hyde Pierce as Niles on Frasier.
His acting on Frasier i was always in tears😂! Miss his acting on screen!!
thanks for the update and the show must go on. All good things make the people fun to watch.😉
DHP is a unique and amazingly gifted actor. His portrayal of 'Niles' in the Frasier series is awesome.
He is an accomplished musician in piano and organ. I would love to watch a concert of him playing the classics.
I loved you as Niles you played the role beautifully, thank you for the memories David.
I saw him last November off broadway doing the last Sondheim. Didn’t love the play but adored David Hyde Pierce!!!
Interesting, thanks for sharing your life story! What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
Daphne was not a housekeeper. She was a healthcare provider for their dad….
In a time when America needs to laugh it would be fantastic to see him on the new show!
Well said, we strongly concur! Thank you for watching our content and for sharing your thoughts. What other types of video would you like to see?
Daphne was Martin Crane's live-in physical therapist, not a housekeeper.
David Hyde Pierce is such a monumental talent. His passion at this time is theatre so that's what I believe he should pursue, however, I must say that "Frasier" remains my favorite comedy (of my lifetime!) and that's because I found him to be 'over the top' funny and entertaining.
I just got to see him in Julia on MAX and he’s wonderful! The show is only getting better with each episode.
Niles, Daphne, and Martin really made that show in my opinion. Not to take away from Frasier, he's always fun to watch.
