Wow, WOW. Imperial age trebs used by a castle age player, half-and-half base trades, economy cripple-fights, a castle surviving with double-digit hp after a petard rush, tons of castle drops. This game really does have it all!
There are some crazier ones on T90s channel. But yes it may take the price for the year so far. I've been watching pretty consistently and can't think of a better 2021 game.

Blue played like a mastermind with clean plan and execution at the beginning then became a complete LEL once the castle is up. Guess most of his opponents did not make it pass that point, but Red held on and showed us why Bohemian is actually the one that needs to be adjusted(nerfed) for Arena situation.
This shows how insane bohemian monk+wagon can be. Monks are possibly the best unit for small fights, and wagons take a lot of hits from building fire. blue's push was very good, but he had nothing to folow it (rams? more castles?) and ignored the potential monks had of not only kiling your units, but giving your resource scarce enemy units and healing them
Damn, this is such a nice play right in the Bohemian spirit. There's a nice little saying from a comedic theater play us Czechs have: "A Czech will adapt." And this is exactly it :D
Hyped for top 10 games at the end of the year! If the other 9 games are anything close to this, that'll be one of the best aoe2 videos, no questions asked!
Arena games=best games. creative entertaining strats and you actually see a variety of units besides cavalry and archers. that 14 min castle drop build is insane actually.
Reminds me of the last Barbarossa campaign where my strategy always was - wall in, spam monks, convert every war elephant that looks your way, tear down Jerusalem 😂
yea that was a definite punt for me. something to note is that i dont have the information as to what was going on in the fog. i certainly thought that red had much more eco then he did and was booming on multiple tc's. i am also very bad at defending which is why i go for such agressive strats. the best defence is a good offence as they say
@@ethanbrown4167 Why didn't you go full scouts, after it was clear he has only monks? I know it is food intensive, but you had an eco for a long time, until he attacked you in your base.
@@fenrirr22 because i overestimated the economy of my oponent. i was afraid they would go to imp soon so i was desperate to kill his castles before he could treb mine. i definitly made a bunch of mistakes but i feel it was due to my incomplete information and poor reading of the situation.
@@ethanbrown4167 That is certainly an understandable excuse, it is very different when you watch something with full information, and we tend to forget, what the player can actually see or think.

I want to show this game to my father as a first game to show. It captures the freight of playing pvp but the logic of playing the game well and coming out ontop. It is much like chess that way.
Well, it basically turned a fairly unbalanced but even game into a completely lost game. Basically, it was all army and no eco vs. all eco and no army and blue gave red the one tool he needed to crush his defenses and eliminate the eco advantage from the equation. Not the biggest throw, tbh, because people have actually thrown games from an absolutely winning position.
@@naphackDT Looked at in a vacuum, yeah there might be bigger throws. But looking at ~1800 skill level players, i honestly cant see how you could fail more even if you actively tried to. The list of things he did wrong in these mb 100 sec is mindnumbing. 1) Sending trebs unguarded (massive mistake in itself) 2) Completely ignoring the fact they might get converted (although he alrdy had a taste of that with his rams) 3) Attacking a castle for no reason whatsoever as that castle was neither actively threatening anything nor did have a big impact to unit production due to lacking enemy economy 4) Not deleting the first 2 trebs before they can get converted 5) Failing to delete even the third treb 6) Rushing in with villagers (!!!) despite the fact that he is in imp and his enemy is not, which basically makes retreating and holding the push the only viable option. Could he have lost anyway, even if he held his trebs on defense? Yeah mbe, but a castle + 20 vills +3 trebs is pretty tough to take out for someone with only 5-8 wagons that is not even in imp (and will most likely not be in the next 15 min). If he relocated his economy to the enemy base, took enemy farms and the left over gold and stone with a mango or two, his chances might have been pretty good. See, im not dumping on Diante out of spite. I thinks hes a solid player and the game was really fun to watch. But that moment was so ... maaaaan ... its like seeing your favourite soccer player stand in front of an empty goalposte for the winning score and he "YEEEEET"s the ball into the spectator rows. -.-
Amazing game! ^^ Definitely confirms that castle drops and trebs generally do need army support. They put pressure for sure but unless the opponent panics (which I guess is less likely at this elo level) it's definitely not enough if there's no follow up after.
I think blue‘s main mistake was the decision of going to imperial so quick. There was absolutely no rush in doing this, red was fully cornered and blue mustve known also from his position that he was way ahead, even if he loses that middle castle. Instead of going to imp, he should‘ve dealt with the villagers outside and built up some basic military to not allow red outside on the map. 4-5 scouts or lcav would‘ve been enough. Going fast to imp is only crucial if you are a) behind and defending against a push or b) afraid that the other player might beat you to it. It just wasn‘t the time for that move and cost map control
@@Mr.Feckless I'm not saying "don't to to imp at all", I'm just saying at that point of the game (around 12:10), he wasn't forced to do that and was pushing it to the limit without necessity, going a big risk which eventually (with some other minor mistakes) lead to losing.

I 100% expected the Hussite wagons to carry Red at the end of the game. Red also had a fair bit of idle time with the monks through out the game too, so it's not like the Bohemians were the only civ that could've fought back, which is nice to know.
new(ish) player here, i used to play over a decade ago as a kid and getting back into it now. these games are stupid fun to watch and definitely teach me a lot, super grateful for all your content ive been binging!
A counter point: If blue actually saves his trebs, he will have them available for later. But more importantly, red wouldn't have any momentum with his big pushes. He would have no threat against donjons and castles, he would be able to hunt down scattered blue eco with his wagons and monks, but how far can that really take him when he doesn't have a tc or is ever gonna be in imp? Blue could simply, if nothing else, turtle up behind his still existing castle for like 10 minutes, and totally outboom red and just wipe him off the map. However you look at it, just handing over those trebs for free was such a throw 11. In general through the entire match, blue just had horrendous micro against red's monks. Like, it was as if he didn't even try. He just gave mangos, trebs, rams, vils, etc to just a few monks. Literally supplied red with all the army he was in desperate need for to hang on. Blue was way too impatient to get the match over with quickly, felt like he wanted to rush his victory and wouldn't believe that a few monks and some wagons could actually put up a fight. Textbook example of quantity vs quality in terms of decisionmaking. Blue was all about making tons of bold decisions, but none of them had true quality in their execution (except for the initial castle push) All this said tho, kudos to both players! Surely made the match entertaining and one of a kind :D
That comes off kinda harsh to blue un some ways, but it's also kind of amazing that they are good enough that these kinda details are what's wrong (instead of silly things like supplies)
@@beebajazz Yea it's definitely harsh for sure, I just felt bad on blue's behalf because from the outside perspective he had this nailed, and I see tons of potential for improvement (if these gameplay aspects are frequent). But anyone who can be regarded top 1000 in DE are definitely no joke for sure!

I feel like they should need castle build speed for all civs tbh. I hate when someone's under attack they see units coming and force a castle in ten secs. It's so freaking unreal. They need to be pre built and strategically thought out before a attack
Instead of Trebbing Reds Offensive Castle he should've gone for the monastery holding the relics, then kill the monks coming to pick the relics with light cav
I've played 2 vs 6 AIs on the hardest difficulty with my brother and we've gotten to where one of us had a single villager left, and made comebacks more dramatic than this.
I think Blue should have trebbed down the market before going to the castle (and losing trebs in the process). Red had no wood income, no TC, no lumber camp, just tons of gold. Without market, he wouldn't have been able to produce anything, basically

Insane. Absolutely insane game. WP to both players. I feel like if blue had just stuck it out and made some more farms at the north tc he might have had a chance, but what do i know.
Blue could have probably still won the game if he didnt send all of his vills to deal with those two trebs. He had plenty of time and manpower to shift his eco to something like cav to just hunt down red's vills and monks, which would have left red with a very slow army that he cant replenish. Still would have been funny too, all that chaos just to end up on the opposite sides of the map making a traditional unit comp like nothing ever happened.
In this game yes. But twice as fast castles will basically set them up as the castle rushing civilisation, just as the 2x hitpoints Town Center sets up Persians as the TC rushing civilisation.

Bohemians don't need a TC to win most games. IMO the gold/stone bonus is just a little too much for a civ that has so many great things going for it.

UNO reverse card moment is what makes me enjoy AoE2 MP.
I don't play this game but I think monks are kinda OP, as well as sicilian's ability to build a castle in ur face on a 30 secs basis.

Blue could have probably still won the game if he didnt send all of his vills to deal with those two trebs.
He had plenty of time and manpower to shift his eco to something like cav to just hunt down red's vills and monks, which would have left red with a very slow army that he cant replenish. Still would have been funny too, all that chaos just to end up on the opposite sides of the map making a traditional unit comp like nothing ever happened.
Sicilian bonus is perfectly fine. Those first two castles would have been up for any faction
In this game yes. But twice as fast castles will basically set them up as the castle rushing civilisation, just as the 2x hitpoints Town Center sets up Persians as the TC rushing civilisation.
the level of messy gameplay in this match will be very hard to beat it, even to match it.
