Its important to note that , many people play this game purely for its singleplayer and that the multiplayer has had a rocky start for a few these days. Perhaps what we saw in those stats there is more kills with trebuchets due to campaign missions , than double boar lures in dark age.
this reminds me of a conversation I was having with my friend the other day, he was talking about the DE achievements and how I went out of my way to get the "dark dinner" one, meanwhile I was just "but dude, getting both boars is a must lol"
@@codesuzakugeass If I'm not mistaken in most build orders you have at least one or two on wood before you lure the first boar. All you have to do is make the wood vill build a house, if you watch yourself you won't be housed.

@@apple-on5pq im not a pro, but why on earth would you use berries when there are deer? isnt it more useful to skip berrys until feudal and take deer with more villagers and make use of the higher collectionrate?

First time I built a treb I realized I could snipe villagers my enemy (AI) had mining gold with one behind some trees and decided to have some fun by leaving it there doing his thing while I boomed to see how it would react. After a while I just got the achievement and proceeded to laugh my ass off.
I have probably actually killed many more than 25 units with trebs but in HD edition. I have barely played Definitive Edition and yet have that achievement. I agree that it looks bugged.
Once I watched the Pros do this; clicking up to the Feudal Age has never been faster! Thanks for the tips T90, TheViper, and ZeroEmpires! Happy hunting!
HONESTLY. I always do boar in the feudal age. Sheep is for the dark age boar and deer for the next age. UNLESS their is a boar very close to my town center during the start, i mean REALLY CLOSE where no luring has to be done pretty much.
AoE2 authors "In this work, we conjecture that the rise and and fall of medieval civilizations may have been due to a paesant failing in luring a boar in town. We support our argument with a computer simulation."
If you time the lure right before finishing the 4th sheep, you can shift click the villagers under the TC to the boar, and they will start attacking as soon they finish the sheep. No need for fancy control group micro.
Another thing worth mentioning is screwing up your opponents boar lure with your scout. If you manage to make your scout last hit the boar, they get nothing. If you manage to block the luring villager, it will disrupt their lure and kill their villager. If you manage to take their boar, you can scout lure it from their base to yours. Pretty much no matter what you do to mess up their boar situation, it hurts them significantly.

We're grateful to you president ZeroEmpires, for making real the election promises at 21:48
Wowie, I was already doing the teenager strategy, with the sheep gathering and one at a time technique. I just figured it'd be most efficient, and I'm super new :o The expert level doesn't look too difficult with the garrison to minimize food loss. I'll try it out!
if you attack the boar twice to lure it wont change aggro when you get it back to the TC so you wont run the risk of losing a low health villager to the boar (unless your lure villager is low because of distance or mistakes)
I feel like if this were a sotl video he would have mentioned the gothic and Aztec resource carry bonuses as well... if there hadn't been so many claims that the beginning about this being the most complete and definitive video ever on the subject I would not have expected bonuses like that to be mentioned quite as much, but the standard was set pretty high by the intro. Also, the berbers villager speed bonus means they can lure these animals farther... Just saying, I feel like there was even more completeness that could have happened here. Overall, this was an amazing video and there was a lot of detail I did not expect as well! Great job, ZE
Extra note on the goths, the extra carry weight for hunters makes the numbers work out so 7 hunters can carry a full boar, so even if you kill it off your town center decay won't be a problem, only the walk distance (in theory you could send 7 vils forward and lame your opponent, but that would be costly)
If you dont want to lose a villager just set gather point near the boar und then attack it and you can directly move back to your tc. So you wont forget.
Some people play the campaign where you get too use trebs but not be in the dark age. Therefore can’t get this achievement. So far I have finished the Spanish and french campaigns and am now working on Barbarossa.
actually if you start playing the campaigns you get the treb achievment really fast, but you never really have to go for boars. They are mostly multiplayer (i played through 2 campaigns and didnt need to hunt for boars, but needed trebs, according to my achievments)
I must say, I have got the 25 kills with trebuchets but not the 2 boars one. Reason is because of the campaign, in the campaign that I played you barely ever had vills.
Did you know if you format the description timestamps in MM:SS and include 00:00 first (named eg "Introduction"), the timestamps will automatically mark the playback timeline on youtube?
Very good video. There are many videos with tips to play better, but in the common game, playing in the standard way. However what would be the best way to play and the best order to build in Regicide mode? I love to play this mode with friends. Can you make a video to help me?

not necessary in the definitive edition for villagers. It IS, however, still necessary when using any other unit (like your scout that wants to lame a boar)
How are the statistics calculated exactly? For example, do rhinos and elephants count as boars? If not, then is that 25% calculated only out of the players who had at least two boars in the game near their TC-s in the Dark Age? What is the minimum amount of food you need to get from a boar for it to be considered "eaten" (or if it runs out of food, does it count as "eaten"?)? There are other questions as well.
Question: Is it worth hunting the extra clusters of boar on Black Forest? They're usually in groups of three and far enough away that you have to mill them. Seems obvious if you're Mongols or Goths; not sure about everyone else.
Could be because they play the Campaign where there aren't any boars laying around yet there's plenty of maps you can use a trebuchet. I don't quite recall there being many boars where an established farm isn't already present.
I object! The math at 17:45 is incomplete!! To lure your boar, you need to take a village off your 5-6 starting villagers. This reduces your mining speed for - let's say 30 seconds to by about 20%. If you factor that in, into the 0.41 gather rate - then it gets complicated. However, let's work wit the simple timings you provide for 8 villages at 17:35. 4 villagers should then be able to gather half that amount in the same time, right? So factoring in that one villager is missing for luring the boar for the assumed 30 seconds, we will need to reduce the base gather speed of 0.41 by: 0.41 * ((3 [villagers] / 4 [all villagers] * 2:41 [minutes]) + (1 [villagers] / 4 [all villagers] * 2:11 [minutes])) / 2:41 [minutes] = 0.41 [gatherrate] * 95% = 0.39 gatherrate per villager In case you have more villagers, it gets more efficient, like, for example for 8 villagers, you get an effective gather-rate of: 0.41 * 0.98 = 0.40 gatherrate Bottom line: Do not take your boar right at the beginning of the match, but a few minutes in --- Duh! ;-)

Hey sheep, why are you queuing up like that? Sheep: "oh we are simply waiting for the villagers to finish with the boar, so that we can be led to slaughter one by one."
If you have about 10 villagers after taking the sheep, another idea would be to send them over to take the boar and then they will come back with all the food...
