Let me take you along to Olbia Airport (LIEO) located in Sardinia, the second largest Italian island in the Mediterranean sea. With its turquoise sea, stunning beaches and green landscape, Sardinia called the European Caribbean for a reason! A cockpit view approach and landing in a Boeing 737-800 on runway 05 in Olbia airport. The video shows what it's like to fly a Standard Terminal Arrival Route/Standard Arrival Route (STAR) in a Boeing 737 800 to Sardinia, Italy. Interesting facts, approach landing charts and actual call-outs and Boeing procedures were added to provide a sense of everything that is going on inside the cockpit during approach, landing and taxi. Olbia, Cagliari, Costa Smeralda, Golfo di Orosei, Su Nuraxi di Barumini, Neptune’s Grotto, Asinara National Park and Nuoro are must-visits when travelling to Sardinia, Italy. Great video! I notice on approaches that you are holding the yoke long before the autopilot disengage horn! Why are you holding the yoke while the plane is on autopilot!??
Below 10.000ft its considered good airmenship. The autopilot can always disconnect suddenly ;)

Great scenery. Last time in Olbia in 1986. Head to Costa Smeralda to hang out with the rich an famous. Some of the yachts had helicopters on them. Nice landing.

It is beautiful but a bit over rated and strangely more expensive than anywhere else in Italy. Wife and I spent a month there traveling around the entire coast (did Sicily’s too) Had a great time as we do all over Italy 🇮🇹
We flew there in a spanking new a220 and the pilot gave me the grand tour of the cockpit plus gave me the flight plan (which I’ve used in my simulator many times!).
Best thing about Sardinia, almost as romantic as Venice 😊 and excellent boating/sea excursions!

Yet another excellent video and, as always, the details and thought processes are well illustrated and described. The big news from my end is that my daughter recently moved to a major airline here in the USA and has been assigned the 737 (previously A319/A320/A321). She started SIMs training today. Sardinia is a beautiful place. I was there in 2015 helping with some issues at Fiume Santo Power Plant in the northwest area of the island but also visited Cagliari to get some machine work done. All very good memories and great folks.

A destination I must add to the travel list!! Another perfect landing once again! What were you entering on your touchpad when you were steering onto the taxi-way? AMS is a great place to call home. The approach here into SEA if you can crew a flight into the US can be quite nice. Keep up the excellent work!
