Love your leviathon scheme
thanks for watching!
These tyranid tutorials have been epic so far mate! Really appreciate the time and effort you took making them❤
Thank you! I'll keep em coming
That scheme is nothing short of amazing. The depth to the red carapace with the black templar in the mix is great !
Thank you, I'm glad to hear that!
Great tutorial! Love your more natural and "brownish" take on Kraken, so different to mine!
Thank you!
I bought the Leviathan box and after watching many color schemes and tutorials, I think I'll follow this one! I love how it looks
Thank you! Good luck with your army.
Randomly found this. One of the best tutorial videos so far

Im still coming to this videos from time to time, wish we get any more video about something new, idk, like the swarmlord maybe? Hope you like the idea! Thank you for your work!
Thanks for watching! I'm hoping to get some more Tyranids in the queue soon. So much to do and not enough time!
@@MattsHobbyHour what do you have on the pipeline? If you dont mind telling me 👀

Thank you! Trying my best, it will come in time... I hope!
Amazing ! neurotyrant next please...
Ah cool, didn't know you'd be painting more of the Tyranids from Leviathan, in this scheme. I have not tried the scheme yet, but it's on the cards for the near future. It's great that you are painting the different creatures from this set, as it means anyone that want to follow your scheme has a range of examples. I'd love to see the big Psychic bug painted as well.
Thanks! Yeah I'll be painting the whole set as Kraken. Maybe some more models too, we'll see! Thanks for following
@@MattsHobbyHour I'd like to see how you do the Tfex and Haruspex. They're both great minis for 10th. The Zoanthropes are really strong as well, so a lot of people are going to be painting those.
Could always do a classic HT and guard as well. I'd probably not bother doing the flying version though, as it's not supposed to be as favoured, so extra work doing the wings, might as well just paint the walking variant, or maybe the swarm lord. I think most people are running walkrants at the moment though.
The Psychic Nid next. I'd like to see how you do brains. I've been doing them with talasar blue over white. it's nice and diluted paint so it only goes into the recesses. dead easy brains. you can go further with it if you want as well. I have terradon turquoise I thin a bit and add some darker colouration at the edges.
That sounds like a good color combo. I went with purple on mine. Will probably have that one out next.
@@MattsHobbyHour oh nice, will look forward to it. I definitely want to see the purple brain.
Another very nice, very achievable painting guide. Good work man. Only way I would personally tweak it would be to make the red highlights a bit bigger, but Tyranids are a horde army so I understand time is a factor.
Thanks! I'm sure bigger red highlights would look great too.
You go Matt
Thank you!
Great video mate! Really liking this series; I'm learning quite a bit for my own hive fleet once I get done with the space marine side of leviathan. I intend to do them in Kraken, as they are clearly the best, and I think I'll be using this color scheme. I like how it is a nice dark red brightened up with the orange highlights compared to a lot of other Kraken schemes that make them out to be waaay too orange or way too bright red. This is a nice finish. Keep it up. Subscribed for sure. :)
Awesome! Good luck on your tyranid project. Thanks for your kind words and for following!
Stunning! (I'm a lapsed painter of many years, looking for inspiration to paint my new Leviathan box!)
Thanks! Welcome back to the hobby, and good luck with your set!
Another great Tyranid video! You earned yourself a new sub 👍
Neurotyrant next?
Keep up the nice content! Love the way you show real time instead of sped up!
Thank you! Great suggestion, i'm leaning towards the Neurotyrant too
Really nice painting and video. What about Barbgaunt next?
Thanks! Good suggestion, i'll start building them next. I think the Neurotyrant is calling my name first
Awesome piece again Matt. Roughly how long did it take you to paint this? I just figure I'll estimate my own time by taking yours and multiply by 200%...
Thanks Ivan! Filming makes it take a lot longer so I don't have an exact number. But if I wasn't filming, probably like 5 or 6 hours including drying time. So I like to juggle a couple other things to fill time.
Thank you!
It's looking realy great (like the screamer-killer by the way). But for a bio-weapon like the fleshborer of a termagant for example, would you go the same scheme as the claws or a different thing? (not in detail but for the general scheme of color). Anyway, great work again.
That's a good question and something I haven't thought much about yet. I like the idea of a different color. Some schemes have really bright weapons which I'm not a big fan of. I'd probably go with something more neutral. Perhaps a similar color to the claws, black or dark grey, with a bright accent color, maybe yellow. Do you have any favorites or ideas?
@@MattsHobbyHour For the scales on the gun, we could keep the flesh teareres red/ black templar but make it a little more bright to differentiate a bit from the carapace. And for the body of the gun ... dark grey looks fine to me with yellow for eyes and inner part (like tube). Need testing to see if it looks good 🤷♂.
I WAS proud of my psychophage..... but now I'm inspired to get better. How long did this take? Mine took quite a bit of time and though it's good, it's not this good.
Thanks! If I wasn't filming, I could probably have it done in a day.
looks awesome but I cant imagine doing this for all 100+ models in my nid army
I wouldn't want to either! I'd save this kind of job for the centerpieces in an army.
Brain guy next 😅
Good idea!
Apparently finding the red is difficult in stores. What's a good substitute for red??
flesh tearers red is hard to find? That's rough. Great color. Hopefully it comes back soon. Blood Angels Red is pretty close, you could try mixing that with Black Templar instead. Try mixing a small amount first and see if you like the color. Good luck!
@@MattsHobbyHour Yes apparently ALL my local stores including GW are sold out. I ordered thru amazone and iy;s tking weeks to get...
@@skyraptor62 that's really unfortunate. I hope you're able to get some soon!
Phemonenal. How long did this paint job take you to do?
Thank you! About a day's work. Filming adds some time though.
@@MattsHobbyHour That's great! I got the Leviathan box and I'm busy putting them all together. I'm going to start painting the Tyranids, but I'm unsure what to do. How do you go about choosing a paint scheme? I was thinking something like sandy flesh with red carapace, or even grey flesh, black carapace with green highlights.
@@Cloudrunner1 those sound like great ideas. Choosing a color scheme would be a good idea for a video. It would be a lot to include in just one comment, but in short, I like to pick a light color and a dark color, let one of them be the main color and the other an accent color.
@@MattsHobbyHour yeah that would be a great video. Loving the channel so far and can’t wait to see more
Why does my magos purple always dry brown?
I'm not sure. It's very transparent, so its color may change depending on what color is underneath it. A second coat may help. Or you may want to try mixing in a small amount of an opaque purple, such as Genestealer Purple. Hope this helps! Good luck!
awesome. Very clean !
Thanks!
Please do the winged tyrant
