Impressive speeds considering the radar gun was positioned close to the net. Pro serve speeds are measured right after the ball leaves the racquet, and by the time it reaches the opponents service box (but before it hits the ground) it'll have already lost roughly 30% of it's speed. That 113 mph serve would have been WELL over 120 mph if measured the same way as on the pro tour.
@@andreyofdoom I've owned several of these radar guns. That's not the way they work. The closer it is to the server, the higher the displayed serve speeds. The risk, however, is the closer it is to the server the higher the chance it'll pick up the racquet moving instead of the ball and display incorrect speeds.
Thank you, this gun is saying way lower than what they are actually serving, they pretty much all have close to pro level serves and Majeed's is easily not only pro level but a solid pro level.
Oh! Obviously the next one should be serving to cones. Whoever is the last to hit one. Also, maybe playing points off a feed, but you can only hit into a certain coned off area.
Always fun with serve speeds. Same every time though, you always hear or say, "That felt faster". Fun thing for juniors, or I used to do with the high school kids...change it to Kph and let them go 100+ :D
As said by "J W" in the most liked comment, the serve gun is off by quite a bit compared to the way it is calculated in Pro play. So add 10-15mph to all the serves/ at least 10-15%+
Haha this was amazing and Lotti spin twirl kiss good bye seemed like she practices it! Definitely interesting with the radar gun, I can't even begin to imagine the terror of returning a 130+ serve. Haha I remember practicing against old team mate and he definitely serves 110+ . Couldn't return it at all, and his kick serve was killer too 🤣. I guess being 6'2 helps
This was a fun video to watch and you are doing a great job growing the channel. Since you are creating content for entertainment and not instruction I'll offer my thoughts. You have a great personality and your potential to grow this channel could be huge depending on how much time you are willing to dedicate to increasing the production value of your videos. Since you aren't a tennis coach or pro and don't create "how to" videos, I suggest bringing some type of story line into your videos to make them even more interesting and fun to watch. Before the tennis match starts, you could do short interviews with the players who appear on your videos talking about their tennis background and how they developed their game into what it is. I'd like to know what gear you and others play with and why....shoes, racket, strings, etc. I'd like to see you and your opponents try some matches where you force yourselves to come to the net, or go for winners, etc. Watching 4.0-5.0 players is cool but eventually without something to differentiate you from others your channel growth will stall. Mountain biking is my other hobby and Seth from "Berm Peak" is a master at taking something that could be mundane and making it entertaining to watch by putting a story line into his videos. His channel has grown to almost 2.5 million subscribers and he started from nothing. People often comment that they'd watch videos of him feeding his dog b/c he has figured out a great formula for entertaining his audience. Best of luck and I'll keep watching and liking.
I agree, i was just about to comment how much potential this channel could have if a different approach was taken. For now it seems like there was just a camera set up and unattended for a hitting session, but if these players personalities were capitalized on more and more attention was paid to making the video structure engaging, this could be a lot bigger.
not surprised the dude with the shortest toss has the fastest serve. the higher the toss the longer the swing has to slow down in order to wait for the ball to drop. low tosses >
Ryan has nearly the perfect serve, More rotation, He has a serve that the great vic braden teaches, Placing the ball to the right will stop shoulder problems
Michelle was very close to becoming last behind Winston. Had she nodded made than one good serve she would have been. Whew she made it in with the good servers! Trophy!🏆
please someone tell the girl with the pink shirt that she foot-faults. that's a bad habit that NEEDS to be corrected. edit- ok seems she knows. looks like people didn't tell her early enough. it's a bad habit that is hard to shake.
Lol that was great. That's a Speedtrac, right? Obviously not 100% accurate, but doesn't look like there's any affordable option that is. Do you feel like it's a good tool to keep track of serve speed in practice? Have any other recommendations? I'm looking for something like that to use about every week
I use one of those sensors that attached to the butt cap. I think it uses some kind of algorithms to interpolate the ball speed so probably not accurate. However, I think it gives quite accurate relative speed which can be useful for improving your serve motions. For example, if you try the same type of serve twice, it can tell if one serve is faster than another, say 90 vs 95 mph. Unfortunately, you cant compare different types serves like flat vs kick, ... cause the kick tends to have faster racket head speed which will clock in higher mph.
Hate to say it, but your radar gun or its placement sucks big time. There were a good number of serves over 100mph that didn't register or registered much lower.
Winston, bit of advice on buttsup.. get your fingers away... if they hit it on the frame.. good chance you get a fracture! Have seen it happen. You guys have way to much fun to miss out on playing!
I'm sorry but I feel morally obligated to call out unfairness when I see it. Why does Winston get to use a racket shield during butts up? He should get nothing but his bare hands.
I was low-energy at a tennis 4.5 league match a few months ago (day after shoveling a lot of snow). I was at a court that had a radar gun so I decided to hit a decently hard serve. I was happy to see 110 mph on the serve, knowing I was low energy and hadn't warmed up the big serve completely yet.
Lotti
what? why? she dont serve fast low power
@@tennisone6376 I like her technique :). Also, I don't think that speed is the most important factor of serves.

What if the gun measures the object it sees moving so it’s still measuring at the shot?

Agreed. Speeds like light. Winston - did you try positioning the radar gun closer ?

Lol… using the racquet to block your butt is illegal!!! I’ve never seen that once in all the games of butts up I’ve played xD
The man, the myth, the legend.
Somebody buy that man a date haha
Interesting that Ryan, who has by far the most abbreviated action, was a very solid second. Shows how much can be achieved with racket head speed.

Thanks Winston, cool new feature with the super thanks. Love the channel.
Yo can we talk about Lotti's consistency though?! 😲
Fun game! Shows you it's not easy serving over 100 MPH!
As said by "J W" in the most liked comment, the serve gun is off by quite a bit compared to the way it is calculated in Pro play. So add 10-15mph to all the serves/ at least 10-15%+
That's way too much racket cover for the butts up haha. Gotta use just the racket handle to protect the junk and the rest is free for all
Whats the point of butts up if you protect your ass with the raquet
He's protecting something else....

I’d love to serve with a radar gun again. I did it a long time ago at Wimbledon but it wasn’t my racket and it was into a net. Still fun though!
Truth is he wanted to lose lol! Fun game tho, I wish I had a radar gun

Nice job taking one for Tiffany, we all know foot faults don't really count. ;)
what kind of radar were you guys using ? anyone got a link?
Okay, now I know im doing about 50 mph 😭😭😭😭
How accurate is your speed meter? Seems off.
yea its about 15 percent slower than it is in a pro tournament
1:48 Nice serve
We used to do a variation of this except the loser had to stand at the net while everyone served at them, but they got to try to volley for defense.
Beautiful California 😉
Is coach chase still in the mix. Wonder what his speed is?
Having fun with friends, Refreshing to watch
Michele is foot faulting every time
lol way to take one for the channel Winston. funny vid

Work on that serve Winston, just imagine how good you would be if you had 90+ mph serves with accuracy, possibly 5.0 and beyond.

Not sure how much the Speedtrac costs... I have a pocket radar for measuring. It's a little more portable.

just goes to show you, you don't have to hit 100 + mph serves to be really good 4.5 player, winston.
Suspect radar. 32? 🤣
How it registered Steven serve at 32 lol.. That 100 that went long was juicy though
Michelle, try not to let your right foot come outside your body, you're opening up your hips before hitting the serve, losing a lot of power.
Noted! Thanks for the tip ☺️
