enjoyable video. i find with this type of music im pretty bored of it after a minute, but after 5 mins i love it and after ten i don't want it to ever stop...
As an SH-101 owner I am pretty impressed with the SH-01. I haven't kept up with Roland's new offerings, first time I've seen it, but it sounds about right, and the interface is pretty close. Cool.
Surgeon's use of the 45000 reminds me of @Alessandro Cortini 's use of the tascam porta studio. It's also interesting the Lyra 8's delay unit, I assume, is affected by the OTO delay.
I use the Lyra 8 into a Roland MX-1 mixer and engage the sidechain. Everything that comes out seems musical in relation to the drums and melodic layers.
I am a long term Octatrack user (since 2011!) and have never found the pickup machines (the Elektron term for the OT's looper) to be reliable or intuitive enough to use consistently. Yep fun occasionally, but its not a friendly tool, particularly in something like a live set. The track recording functions are great for improvising with and if you check out people using the 'fader transition trick' that is brilliant for live work.
Yeah bummer if youre all warmed up, put on your best dance shoes and then end up having to listen to surgeon strangling an electric chicken for 3 hours...🧐

I love this - such a great live set up!
so are those the ikea bamboo dinner mats?
Again an interesting minimalist approach
Sugeon just has showed for what synthesizers was intend to be, not ordinary musical instruments, but a new way to be disruptive when making music.
Beautiful. I love the lyre 8 !
No electric chickens were harmed in the making of this video.
Wicked! I saw him on Friday (1/11/19) at House of God such a good techno night with a proper friendly oldskool crowd.
I like your wedding band Tony very nice!

it also has 4 voice polyphony! and you can stack the voices.

Hehe
@@gatorgoforth3097 good idea, sidechain is such a great secret weapon
well, abstraction does not require constant precision, i guess
I'd love a Lyra and Grendel for some wacky stuff to sample and mangle in my Octatrack.
DON'T STOP!
Why unlisted? P.s. lyrA+Looper=crazy stuff!
Surgeon x Regis x Ansome 💯🔥
nice rig
Why use the EHX looper when he has an Octatrack? Genuinely curious as I’ve considered the EHX before too.
Easy to use?
ease of use, got faders, …

Remind me to select carefully which type of Surgeon live set I go watch 🤔

Where is the Octatrack? Surgeon has some videos of using Elektron Octatrack with modular gear.
Anyone know the box in the top right?
oto machines bim
i thought my kettle was going; it was just the lyra 8
How’s it mixed though
I’m assuming the lyra is mono? So Roland into right, Lyra into left of 45000 and mixed, then output into bim
siiiick
wow
strangled electric chicken :D :D :D
Taking Brain Salad Surgery into a whole new dimension...!!!!
