Think you’ve got to really know your equipment, inside out upside down etc etc....really impressive. So much gear live must be quite stressful, heard a lot of live performers have three or four bits of gear to keep the stress out of live gigs.

In all honesty looks like fun but almost all of this stuff is quite pointless and honestly very limited in it's sonic possibilities. I suppose it depends on what music you make. modular synthesis especially, but also drum machines and analog hardware. such an effort just to make anything slightly approaching interesting. Honestly makes me feel humble knowing all I have is a laptop and a set of speakers.

there is no right or wrong how to make music. stay with your laptop and set of speakers, see for yourself where you are at after 5 years, if still in front your computer then good, you have found your instrument for rest of your lifetime, but most of the time artists seek for inspirations out of their laptops after a while. it is just a different feeling of music creation. Floating Points has been using and I bet - he is still using computer for music production.
